The actress announced news of the arrival of her second daughter to a US magazine yesterday
Drew Barrymore has given birth to a baby girl, a sister for her daughter, Olive, 19 months.
A spokesperson for Drew, 39, and her husband, Will Kopelman, 36, released a statement to People magazine in the US, saying,
‘Happy to announce that today we are the proud parents of our second daughter, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman. Olive has a new little sister, and everyone is healthy and happy!’
Drew had thrown a baby shower at her home on Saturday, inviting celebrity friends including Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow and fellow Charlie’s Angels co-star, Cameron Diaz.
She also shared pictures of her tucking into a Chinese meal on her Instagram on Sunday – perhaps hoping that the spice would help get her labour started.
With her first pregnancy, Drew kept it quiet for as long as possible, and never officially confirmed it. This time round she took a different approach.
‘Last time I never commented on it and people just stalked me the entire time. So yes, it’s happening, it’s true. I tried to keep it a secret for as long as possible,’ she told People magazine in November.
And we’re loving Drew’s down-to-earth approach to pregnancy weight gain.
‘You’re not supposed to look perfect while you’re making babies. Making babies is the perfection,’ she told Women’s Health magazine.
‘I don’t ever pose, ‘I’m just so fabulous and I lose it like that.’ I want to enjoy the pasta right now! What’s 10lbs?’
