Jenny Frost tells Mother&Baby about her twin girls being in hospital before presenting the Big Heart Awards in association with MegaBloks.
Delivering her twin girls at 34 weeks pregnant was a ‘very scary time’ says Jenny Frost as she was preparing to present the Mother&Baby Big Heart Awards.
Talking to us exclusively before the Big Heart Awards, the ex-Atomic Kitten star said, ‘It’s a really scary time as a mother when you give birth to your babies prematurely.
‘I was very fortunate, there were no complications and the girls just had to stay in hospital for a week, the twins needed to stay in the special care baby unit just for heat, they were feeding on their own and they didn’t need any help breathing or anything like that so it was purely just to keep them warm because they were tiny,’ she said.
‘I went into auto-pilot so I kind of took it in my stride but looking back in hindsight now it was a really difficult time but as a parent you find you do that, when the going gets tough you just get on with it.’
Talking about who she could count on during that time, Jenny said, ‘It’s not always quite as simple as it was for me, I had a great support system – my husband was amazing with my little boy at home and my mother-in-law came over and helped but not everybody’s fortunate enough to have the help around them.’
And it seems Jenny’s husband Vicente is still a great source of support. ‘He’s just amazing,’ she says. ‘He lets me sleep in in the mornings, he gets up with the girls, he does more than his fair share, he’s really hands-on and he’s incredible.’
