Mum of two Lily Allen isn’t afraid to say what she thinks and her latest song shows that she doesn’t care about achieving a post-baby flat tum
You’ve got to give it to Lily Allen. The singer has returned to the music industry after four years away focusing on her new family with husband Sam Cooper – daughters Ethel Mary, two, and Marnie Rose, 10 months. And there’s no sign of PG-ing her image now that she’s a mum. So, it’s probably best to watch this video when your kids aren’t around…
The singer’s new hit Hard Out Here shows that she refuses to conform to post-baby weight loss expectations. It comments on the music industry at present, sung in Lily’s unmistakable style. Lyrics cover the pressure to look a certain way, saying, ‘You should probably lose some weight, because we can't see your bones.’
It also pokes fun at the twerking trend that has taken over the pop world, the image of the women in music videos and puts a sarcastic spin on a Robin Thicke video.
The video for Hard Out Here opens with Lily, 28, lying on an operating table having liposuction. She’s heard saying ‘Um…I had two babies’ while the surgeon is ordered to ‘take more out’ by a corporate-looking male, probably meant to be her manager.
I am honestly on the verge of tears. So overwhelmed by your feedback. Thank you, thank you, thank you. #HOH— Lily Allen (@lilyallen) November 12, 2013
This song is a stark contrast to the sweet and dreamy Somewhere Only We Know track that Lily released as the soundtrack to John Lewis’ Christmas advert.
