She has been very open about her weight problems in the past, and now former Steps star Claire Richards has revealed the reason behind her recent health kick.
The singer, 36, told Loose Women this morning that she and husband Reese Hill want to try for another baby – but she didn’t feel she could start trying to conceive before shedding some excess pounds.
Speaking to Myleene Klass, Ruth Langsford and Linda Robson, Claire explained that her recent weight loss, which saw her drop from a size 20 to a size 12, was spurred on from a desire to expand her family.
‘This time there is a personal reason and it is something extremely personal to me, but my husband Reece and I, we decided that we want to try for another baby,’ she explained.
‘Me being overweight was causing us a lot of problems so I went to see the doctor and he advised that I lose weight. So that is the one and only reason why I have done it this time.’
While Claire has not yet got her BFP, she went on to say she was hopeful it wouldn’t be long before she could announce a new pregnancy.
‘I actually realised that whenever I have become pregnant, I was slim,’ she added.
‘I’ve never tried when I was overweight before and this time it just wasn’t happening so we went to find out what was going on and that was the first thing so from this moment on we’ll see what happens…’
Claire and Reese are already parents to Charlie, six, and Daisy, four.

Any of these sound familiar?
