Actress, singer and TV presenter Suzanne, 33, expects her second baby in October, a sibling for 10-year-old Corey, her son with Darren Day. Now happily settled with partner Sam Greenfield, Suzanne shares her excitement at the imminent arrival of baby number two.
There have been no similarities to my first baby, it's all so completely different second time around
My second experience of pregnancy has just been amazing. I've had a really easy time, although I'm getting very uncomfortable now I'm coming to the end. There have been no similarities to my first baby, it's all so completely different second time around. I was ill the entire nine months with Corey and this time it's been a lovely experience.
I’ve kept my pregnancy diet really balanced. It’s high in protein and fibre and I've been more than happy to cave in to my newfound love of chocolate! I've developed a sweet tooth I never had before.
Vitamins are vital and I've been taking Pregnacare Max Vitabiotics. But I'm gaining loads of vitamins from juicing fruit and veg as well.
I haven’t worried about gaining weight. To be honest, I've really enjoyed and embraced my growing figure. I'm making the most of it and can't wait to do it again.
It's sad to think any new mums should feel pressure to ‘get their body back’. I know I certainly won't
It's sad to think any new mums should feel pressure to ‘get their body back’. I know I certainly won't. I’m looking forward to being more active though, going for a long run and getting back to the gym when it fits in with me. If the weight comes off quickly, great! If it doesn't, I really don't care.
I'm having a home birth and I'm so excited. I've got an independent midwife named Virginia and her back-up midwife Jacqui. Both are so lovely and I feel very relaxed and happy that I've got the best support by my side. My partner Sam, my son Corey and my mum (if she makes it) will all be there. I have my birthing pool at the ready.
I had heard so much about hypnobirthing and thought that it would really suit me
I’ve also been taking hypnobirthing classes. I had heard so much about hypnobirthing and thought that it would really suit me. My life has changed so much over the past few years and meditation has become a big part of it. Just doing the Katherine Graves preparation CDs has helped relax me and get me into a really good state of mind. I really believe it's going to give me the best labour possible. I've not heard a bad story (about hypnobirthing) yet.
Corey is so excited about becoming a big brother. He’s a brilliant boy and will be the best big brother anyone could wish for. I'm so proud of my son.
We haven’t found out if the baby’s a boy or girl. We’re keeping it a surprise and I can't wait! It's been fun getting the nursery ready, though the only downside with not knowing the baby's sex is the lack of colour but it's been so lovely doing it all together as a family.
I have a brilliant support network. I've always had that from my family but now I have the support of my partner’s family too. We are very lucky to have such amazing people in our lives.
What does motherhood mean to me? Unconditional love, happiness, understanding and support.
Family is so important. I don’t have one favourite thing, I love all of it, the ups and the downs!
