Shakira: ‘How I Cope With Being A Working Mum’

Section: Celebrity Mums

There are days when we find it difficult to even brush our hair before we get to the office, let alone having to be camera ready at all times. So how does Shakira juggle being a mum with her career?

It makes you reassess just waht needs to be done, Shakira explained on this morning’s Lorraine show.

Speaking to celebrity journalist Dan Wootton, the Can’t Remember To Forget You singer revealed how she copes with her parenting responsibilities to one-year-old son Milan and her life as a star.

‘My son has taught me to let go of the reins a little bit - and be more punctual too’

‘I try to take him everywhere I go, just to be with him and nurture him as much as I can,’ she said on ensuring her work schedule fits around her toddler.

It comes after Shakira told the Today show that one of the most surprising things she has found about motherhood is that Milan has taught her so much about herself.

‘I've become a student of his in a way,’ she said. ‘He has taught me to let go of the reins a little bit and be more punctual too. And all of that has to do with the fact that he’s just a wise little creature.’

It seems Shakira’s relationship with partner Gerard Pique, a professional footballer, has only grown stronger since they had their son.

‘Sometimes I feel that at that time when we had met, I often felt like a princess trapped in a castle with a dragon inside and he was that prince that rescued me from the dragon,’ she told Lorraine.

‘I know that sounds super corny but that’s how I feel. I was searching for happiness for so long and I finally found it with him.’
