'New year, same me': Stacey Solomon reminds us why we should love our bodies this year

Section: Celebrity Mums

It’s the new year - and with it comes the typical ‘new year, new me’ spiel. Along with making resolutions to stop turning up to work late, or cutting out alcohol for Dry January, most people feel the pressure to change their bodies.

Even if you don’t actually want to change your lifestyle, when it feels like everyone else is hitting the gym or cutting out all refined sugars, it can feel tough not setting any resolutions.

Enter Stacey Solomon, who has reminded us all that it’s OK to keep on loving your body ‘no matter how hard society tries to stop us’.

Stacey - who is mum to 11-year-old Zachary, seven-year-old Leighton and baby Rex - shared a photo of herself holding her youngest son while wearing a bikini. And in the powerful post, she explained that she won't be making a 'new year, new me' promise - because she loves her body for bringing her kids into the world.

‘New year, same me,’ she wrote. ‘Because why change something that brought me the most happiness I could ever imagine. That brought me the smiley seven-month-old in the picture and the most amazing 11-year-old taking it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s to another year of loving our bodies no matter how hard society tries to stop us.’

Stacey's latest post is just one of the many reasons we love the presenter and her refreshingly honest Instagram. Always keeping it real, body positivity is something she preaches, and regularly.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, the TV favourite also shared a photo of her bikini body - but this time while she was pregnant, urging her followers to be 'body kind'.

‘This week it’s Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year is body image,’ she wrote. 'Something I feel so passionately about. So I’m posting to try and spread some body cheer… Our bodies are incredible. No matter what society makes you feel, YOU ARE ENOUGH. What we look like does not define us. I try so hard to make a conscious effort every day of being kind to myself and loving who I am inside and out. It doesn’t come easily but it serves a huge reward.’

Out in the garden doing all I can to cool down. Even though it’s only 20• however I feel like I’m in an oven! 😂 This week It’s mental health awareness week, and the theme this year is body image. Something I feel so passionately about. So I’m posting to try and spread some body cheer... Our bodies are incredible. No matter what society makes you feel, YOU ARE ENOUGH. What we look like does not define us. I try so hard to make a conscious effort every day of being kind to myself and loving who I am inside and out. It doesn’t come easily but it serves a huge reward. No one has the power to make you feel a certain way, that power is yours! So let’s take the power back and do all we can to reverse the damage that conditioning has done to us and how we view ourselves. Let’s give ourselves a bloomin break and try to accept who we are no matter how different! Stretch marks, veins, cellulite, muffin tops, scars, grey hairs, are beautiful and it’s what makes us US. We are ALL unique, and that is beautiful. You are the only you there is and THAT, in my opinion is perfection! 💙 #BeBodyKind
