Watch what happened when these adorable pupils broke royal protocol when meeting Kate Middleton

According to royal protocol, members of the public are only ever allowed to shake hands with the royal family, nothing more and that rule applies the Duchess of Cambridge too.

Yet yesterday, it seemed the excitement of meeting a real-life princess got too much for the pupils of Bond Primary School in Mitcham, who broke royal protocol by giving pregnant Kate a cuddle.

Kate was at the school to witness the work of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative and spend some time meeting the pupils. As she was due to leave, Kate can be seen bending down to shake the children’s hands, as they all lined up to say goodbye to the royal.

Yet after the first child in the queue gave the Duchess a cuddle instead, the rest of the class followed suit and ever the natural, Kate smiled and accepted the hugs from the children.

Kate Middleton is currently expecting her third baby, who is due in April this year.
