Could The New Fish And Chip Pie Be Your Latest Pregnancy Craving?

The latest dish from Marks & Spencer could be the hybrid food your body's been craving ever since you got over morning sickness…

You announced your pregnancy and what was the first thing people asked you? Apart from 'do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?'

Hands up if you’ve been asked at least a dozen times 'so have you had any weird food cravings yet?' Have you? Have you wiled away the hours dreaming up (and eating) combinations of absolutely delicious things that totally go together, but everyone else looks on in horror? Have you wanted to chew on chalk or eat gherkins and a donut - at the same time?

Marks and Spencer have just announced the launch of their new fish and chip pie, and it’s exactly that. A delicious pastry case (to satisfy the part of your brain that craves pie), filled with cod, mushy peas and topped with chips (for the bit that is shouting ‘CHIPPY TEA, CHIPPY TEA’).

Obviously we all know how important it is to eat mounds of healthy food when pregnant, so while cheese and onion crisp flavoured chocolate (this actually exists in Ireland) pizza with mini bacon cheeseburgers in the crust (Pizza Hut, should you want to give in) and chocolate chicken curry might be on the tip of your tongue at all times, exercise caution and proceed with care.

That said, a little of what you (and your baby) fancies, does you good.

Fish and chip pie available at M&S from April 22.
