A video, launched for World Down’s Syndrome Day on Friday 21st March, stars actors with Down’s syndrome telling mums-to-be what to expect
In pregnancy, we all have worries about our growing baby. But what if you were told your unborn child has Down’s syndrome – who would you ask for advice?
One mum-to-be, told her baby has Down’s syndrome, contacted the National Association of People with Down Syndrome with the following message:
‘I'm expecting a baby. I've discovered he has Down syndrome. I'm scared: what kind of life will my child have?’
The association responded to the woman’s question in perhaps the best way possible – with a video that has been viewed over a million times since it’s release less than a week ago.
Watch the video below and have tissues at hand – it’s a tearjerker.
The video features 15 European young adults and children with Down's syndrome, all who tell the mum-to-be what her child will be able to do.
In the UK, there are around 6,000 people living with Down's syndrome and 750 babies born with the genetic condition each year.
