We know there's no such thing as a perfect time to have kids, but that doesn't mean we don't imagine it…
According to a new study, marriage, owning a property and being mature enough to have children are just some of the things women want to achieve before starting a family.
The poll of 1,000 women without children revealed a whopping list of priorities women feel that they need to tick off before getting pregnant.
One in five wanted to go on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, a quarter of those polled wanted to own a property with a garden and one in 20 wanted to be at the top of their game professionally, earning more than £40,000 a year.
The research also revealed women are meticulous in TTC planning, wanting to get pregnant at the best possible time, including timing school entry dates and working around work commitments (and even friends’ weddings!).
A spokesperson for OvuSense, who commissioned the survey, said, 'Nowadays women tend to juggle a lot of responsibilities in their lives and making the decision to have a baby is huge, especially the first time around.
'It's understandable that many busy women have certain things they want to accomplish before starting a family. It can only be a good thing that women are wanting to do things like clear their debt and see the world.
'Whilst the research showed that women want to get certain professional milestones under their belt, it's important not to leave it too late to start trying to conceive, everyone is different and it may take longer than you envisage.'
