This is an i-Size seat suitable for use from birth until around 12 months. You’ll need the Maxi Cosi 2wayFix base for ISOFIX installation. It’s travel-system compatible. The straps are particularly easy to adjust, and we like the cosy, supportive inlay that offers a comfortable fit and good lie-flat position.

Tested by mum Angela Cowley for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I absolutely adore this car seat for many reasons, not least because it is so beautiful! The seat is used in conjunction with the 2way family base and is compliant with the new isize regulations. The base can be used with this seat and then again with the next stage up. The base comes with isofix fittings or the seat can be strapped into the car using the seat belt.

How did this product make your life easier?

The seat is light weight which makes it easy to carry when holding an infant. And the best feature is that the straps can only be loosened when the harness is undone. This means that it cannot be accidently undone by the child. I have a Bugaboo Donkey and the seat was so easy to use with my pram. I just bought an adaptor so I could click and go.

In addition to being compatible with Maxi-Cosi prams it is also compatible with Quinny, Bugaboo and iCandy prams making it a good choice for anyone with these prams looking for an infant car seat. The seat is very well padded and looks very comfortable for baby, additionally the newborn inlay looks very snug and comfortable.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about this product is the price. It is completely worth its price tag however being at the top end of the car seat market it makes it quite pricey. Unfortunately this means that it could be out of reach for some families that would love such a sturdy, safe, comfortable looking seat.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would highly recommend this product to parents of newborns. Not only does it look fantastic but it preforms so well in all the areas I look for in a car seat. Not knowing if I was having a girl or boy, the colour options meant I didn't have to go for a dull, plain colour like black but could have a pop of colour without it being really bright (something that personally, I am not as keen on). It was so easy to install, helped buy a unique led light system that flashes up so you know that it is safe and installed correctly.

It has a number of well thought-out features to make life easier and I was proud to seen with the car seat which I think looks delightful. You have the option of both ISOFIX and seatbelt fix so it is versatile and easy to transfer from car to car if needed to without the need to remove the ISOFIX. This product oozes style and quality and is a wonderful step up from my previous Maxi-Cosi Cabrofix car seat.

How did this product make your life easier?

As well as looking good, the car seat was so easy for me to fit without having to rope in help from my husband! (It does come with an instructions booklet). Using the ISOFIX base made it easy to tell whether it was installed correctly due to the lights the base has to say when things are correct. Having the car seat adapters is very useful so you can easily pop the car seat on to your pram allowing a smooth and easy transition if you are quickly popping somewhere and don't want to disturb and transfer your baby into the carry cot part of your pram, a real time saver (once I got the hang of the adapters)!

The hood is a fantastic feature to block out some unwanted sunshine from my baby's eyes and I love the improved rubber eyelets which you use to hold the hood in place as my previous hood on my car seat didn't have these and the material hooks used ended up fraying and damaging, a small but great feature and very easy to quick tuck the hood away in the car seat. Having an easy to use seatbealt fix system made life easier when Grandma wanted to take the baby out briefly and this was easy to use with coloured parts of the seat highlight where to put the seat bely. And a small feature with great benefits, making life so much easier is the strap holder where you can open the straps and hook the straps out of the way for ease of getting your baby in and out.

It is great quality, from a reliable brand and has well thought about features. It is also iSize compliant, a real must for future car seats and brilliant in regards to safety. The fact it looks so stylish with great colour options just adds to its appeal. Your baby will be safe, well supported and comfortable whilst in this seat especially with the newborn insert and the jersey material that they have chosen to use. New features such as the mechanisms for loosen the straps are now safer where by they can only be loosened when the harness is undone, bump up the safety feature as you child can not accidentally loosen the straps. I found it so easy to use which is a must when you have your hands full and a new born! Maxi-Cosi have really thought about this product and designed it with parents in mind and all the little things add up.... even the little tape measure they include rather than a piece of plastic to hang the instructions off comes in useful when measuring your child.

What changes would you make to this product?

All car seats I have used seem to be heavy as your baby grows (although there are a couple of more lightweight car seats on the market) but I don't think there is any way around this as it needs to be safe but if I could have any other feature of this car seat it would be the ability to have my child in it for longer as the car seat is quite pricey and you do need to buy the ISOFIX base separately if you want to use it. The one thing to remember however is that Maxi-Cosi have made the base suitable for the '2 way family' so you would not need to replace it when you move up to the next car seat (Pearl) and you can have it both rear and forward facing which is an added saving there.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product as it looks good in the car and on the buggy too. It's very easy to move it from the buggy to car as you can unclick it using one hand. Having owned a 0+ Pebble the newborn insert on the Pebble Plus is much more comfortable and luxurious. The fabric is of excellent quality and I'm sure built to last. It would be useful if the sun visor extended further. It would be useful if the covers were easily removed for washing if there see any accidents

How did this product make your life easier?

It is easy to use if you are out on your own. It's easy to find adaptors so you can use this car seat with most buggies. My baby seems comfortable in this I can trust my baby is safe in this seat It would be good if it was compliant with more isofix bases. As it is isize compliant it will be good for years to come.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product is head and shoulders above other seats in this category. Maxi-Cosi is a well respected brand and market leader for a reason. It is a household name people trust. The seat is really high spec, being extremely safe, comfortable and luxurious at the same time. The only thing that is a holdback is that it is quite a lot more expensive than other seats in this category. Once you buy a base too, you are looking in the region of £400. I would recommend this seat highly.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would like a larger sun shade as it is not always effective or an option to extend it further, I understand this may not always be possible due to safety for the handle etc. It would also be good if you could turn the seat if you wanted to take the child out without removing the seat as a 20lb baby plus the weight of the car seat is quite a workout! Overall the product is very aesthetically pleasing and of a very high standard using good quality materials.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Very attractive car seat, like the colours, easy to use with the isofix base and the normal car seatbelt too. Lightweight with baby in the seat. Looks comfortable, my little girl sleeps really well in it and especially like the newborn insert for extra support for my baby. Looks very sturdy and safety ratings look very good. Straps very easy to tighten/loosen so I know my baby is secure in the seat. Like how you can buy adaptors for my pram to use it on my travel system, saves time and effort getting baby out of car seat for quick trips to shops.

How did this product make your life easier?

Easy to use, very quick to install the isofix base in my car and very self explanatory. Like the three lights going green and a beep when the isofix base and car seat are in correct position, very reassuring. I find that I can get my baby in quicker to the Maxi-Cosi than my existing Silver Cross car seat and I think it is lighter to carry with baby in. I also like that I could buy adaptors for my travel system to put the car seat on my pram base. This makes going to the shops for quick trips much easier.

Would you choose this product to win?

The best thing about this car seat is the ability to use it with adaptors for my Bugaboo pram which means I can nip out quickly from my car to the shops/nursery to drop off my older girl. I don't have to wake my sleeping baby which is always a bonus!

What changes would you make to this product?

It would be helpful if the car seat fitted babies slightly longer, as it is quite expensive I would rather be able to use It for longer to get my money's worth, especially with new legislation which says babies need to be rear facing for longer I think I will have to buy another rear facing car seat as I don't think my little girl will last in this one until she is 12 months. I do however like that the car seat comes with a measuring tape so you can be sure exactly when the baby has grown out of it rather than just guessing.

The Pebble Plus is easy to use and is so versatile, having the ability to be placed in the car securely both with and without the isofix base. It also is capable of attaching to several buggy frame eg Quinny and Bugaboo. The Newborn insert provides a comfy and safe environment for small babies and can be easily removed as your child grows.

How did this product make your life easier?
For me, this product makes my life easier primarily because I can take my baby out and about in it as a buggy and as we don't currently have a car, we are later able to put it in a car (either with or without the isofix) eg a taxi or relatives car, easily. We have also used the seat to rock the baby to sleep if they are unable to settle anyother way.

Would you choose this product to win?
Yes, I think the Pebble Plus should win this category because of its versatility to be used both with and without the isofix base and on the buggy frame. My baby enjoys going out in the car seat whether that be going in a car or in the buggy. I trust that my hold is secure and safe when we are out and about in the Pebble Plus.

What changes would you make to this product?

The one thing that would make this product better would be if it could be made lighter in weight. My child had a high birth weight and he has maintained a large size as he has grown which makes it difficult for me to carry him out to the car in the car seat because it is so heavy. Otherwise we have been very impressed.

Tested by Fiona Hatcher, 33, mum to Jude, seven weeks. She says:

The retracting buckle on this seat eliminates frantic rummaging beneath your baby for the straps, and they’re so simple to adjust. The newborn insert is brilliant – it cradles Jude like a swaddle. The base indicates if it's fitted correctly. The seat is bulky, although it’s light enough to carry comfortably. I found the sunshade fiddly and it offers minimal coverage.

Tested by Vikki Slattery, 33, mum to Aidan, seven months. She says:

I love this seat – it’s really intuitive to use. The base is easy to fit, and the seat is comfortable and well-cushioned, and Aidan seems very happy in it. The hooks that hold the straps back when they’re not required are so practical. It’s not particularly light when carried, but I did manage to lug it round the shops without getting cramp!

Tested by Mahjabeen Brammall, 33, mum to Zahra, 12 months. She says:

The base is easy to install and I like the reassuring ‘bleep’ when it’s fitted correctly. The seat looks comfortable and Zahra seems happy in it, and loves banging her feet against the footrest. The over-the-shoulder straps are easy to fasten. It almost deserves full marks, but I feel some other seats offer better value.

Tested by mum Kelly Ryan-Bates for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This seat is great, it feels well made and I felt that my baby was comfortable and safe whilst travelling. I trilled the black but noticed there 7 colour choices, with some bright fun colours. The harness was easy to use and make bigger and smaller and the hood gave extra protection from the sun. I found the seat easy to fit in the car with the seat belt, but also like the idea of using with an ISOFIX base. This seat is I size so you would be able to use for around 15 months.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

My baby is happy in this seat making travelling longer distances now a much easier task.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The straps on the back rest could do with being able to move up with your growing baby, if intending to use for a longer period of time.

Tested by mum Aimee Butler for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend to fellow mums. I love this seat it feels safe and of a good build. The best thing for me is the newborn insert I had a small baby 5lbs and this was perfect for her to lie in, I felt she looked much more comfortable, and in a more lay down position than in my original seat. I liked how easy the harness is to use, and also found it easy to buckle into the car. T

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I feel my tiny baby is comfortable and safe  in this seat, meaning I would now be happy to try a longer journey with her.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would like to be able to remove the hood for cleaning, or if this is already possible instructions on how to would be good.

Tested by mum Debbie Russell for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this seat to fellow mums, firstly it feels very well made, safe and my baby was comfortable when in it. It is I size so you should be able to use till around 15 months, I tested with my 14 month old and he still fitted the seat well and looked comfortable, I would however only use and leave in the car at this point as it was quite heavy to carry with him in. The harness was easy and quick to use and buckling in the car quick and straightforward. The cover was easy to remove and clean and dried over night.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This product makes my life easier as I can leave my child rear facing for longer ensuring him to be safe whilst out in the car.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would like to be able to move the shoulder harness up with my growing child.

Tested by mum Aimée Higby, 25, from Essex, is mum to Aiden, six weeks old. She says:

‘I like the newborn inlay, which meant Aiden could nap in this seat for longer than usually recommended for Group 0+ car seats.’

Tested by mum Helen Wood, 31, from Cambridgeshire, mum to Ethan, six months. She says:

‘Great value, and easy to use and adjust, both in and out of the car. I like the inlay, but separate head-and-back supports would be even more useful.’

Tested by Cora Fleming, 35, from Ipswich, mum to Lyla, 12 months. She says:

‘Lightweight and surprisingly compact – it takes up less than a full-seat width and I love the easy, no-fuss automatic installation. Brilliant.’
