2014 – Shortlisted for 'Best Specialist Car Seat' Award!

The Britax VERSAFIX is a comfortable, secure forward-facing car seat. It fits easily, with a car seatbelt or ISOFIX. The seat is covered in soft, high quality fabric and is very safe. The only criticism is that the recline feature is still quite vertical; little ones would sleep better if the seat tilted further back.

Highly recommended.

>> WHAT IS AN ISOFIX CAR SEAT?

A very versatile seat that can be easily attached using ISOFIX, seatbelt or a top tether fixing. On the downside, our testers thought it was a little on the small side and the buckle fastenings seemed on the flimsy side.

As the name suggests, this Group 1 seat is all about versatility – it can be fitted with standard ISOFIX, ISOFIX plus a top tether (a third anchorage point at the seat’s top for additional safety) or with the seat belt, depending on what’s available in the vehicle it’s being used in.

The VERSAFIX is a sturdy car seat but it has a couple of minor issues: it’s tricky to install and one tester reported that her toddler could undo the buckle. There’s a really good seating position though, reclined enough for sleep, but high enough to see out of the window and it’s easy to transfer between cars if need be. Overall, though, our testers found it a little disappointing for the price and were concerned it wasn’t roomy enough to last, as the seat was shallow and quite small.
