Find out what our parent testers thought of Ella’s Kitchen six months range.

Tested by mum Sophia Procter for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would highly recommend this product as the ingredients are all organic and there’re no ‘nasties’ included. The combinations in this range are great, and help baby to explore more new tastes. I thought the size was too big, but my son ate all of it and really enjoyed them. He turned six months while I was trialing these and they were exactly what he needed, I really wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to another parent. The consistency was fab too.

The design of the Ella’s Kitchen six months range pouches are made with parents in mind. Easy to store and take out with you, and dispose afterwards (and fridge if necessary). I was also a fan of the different combinations of food – this gave me a much-needed break from cooking, and knowing all the ingredients are healthy and organic was great peace of mind.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

A lot of the range was very vegetable heavy, and since you can introduce protein, it would have been nice to see a bit of meat in some of the dishes. If possible even fish. It would have been nice to have a few different options, like steak stew, roast chicken dinner, ham sandwich and fish pie for instance!

The Ella’s Kitchen six months range food pouches are so easy to use, come in a range of flavours but most importantly they have no added nasties, just all naked ingredients. This is very impressive as I would prefer to give my baby fresh food, but this isn't always possible in a busy family life so this food range is perfect.

The Ella’s Kitchen six months range food pouches are so easy to use, you can dispense them directly onto a spoon with no mess and no need for a bowl which saves on washing up.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I cannot see that any improvement could be made. A+ product!

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

We’re big Ella’s fans here. Their baby food is 100% organic. The packaging is very cute, the consistency of the pouch was perfect. My 8 month old son was a little old for this range but we bulked it up by adding veg.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The pouches are easy to transport around, they also didn't take too long to heat up.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I wouldn't change a thing. Personally, I think £1.29 is a little expensive, but for the quality of the product it’s worth it.

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend Ella’s Kitchen as the product is so convenient and easy to use. I buy Ella’s whenever I know it's going to be a bit difficult to prepare something myself, like on camping trips or long journeys. I know I've got something to hand that is easily transportable, resealable, hygienic and usually the right amount to satisfy my baby.

Ella’s pouches are so easy to use on the go, they are even usable if you don't have a spoon! They make my life easier in that I can easily carry a few in my bag for emergencies when on the run. There is a good variety of meals and knowing they are 100% organic is a huge bonus too.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

There is nothing I would change about the product.

The resealable pouches are so much better than jars - lighter, easier to store etc. All ingredients are 100% organic and the food looks and smells so much better than any other brand available to buy (in my opinion). I was sent 5 different flavour pouches to try and my little boy LOVED every one of them.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I love the fact that Ella's Kitchen purees come in pouches. I'm not a fan of jar foods - I always found them to be quite watery.  If I've had a busy day and don't have time to cook a meal from scratch for my 8 month old, I don't feel at all guilty about giving him an Ella's Kitchen pouch. All ingredients are organic and nothing else is added in.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Absolutely nothing - Ella's Kitchen is the only 'ready made' baby food that I will be buying for my son from now on.  Yes, it's a bit more expensive than other brands, but I don't mind paying extra for quality.

My son absolutely loved each and every one of these. I was already a fan of Ella's pouches but these are even better. They are thicker which is easier to use, the sachets themselves are also easy to use. They can also be easily re-sealed and saved for another day.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I flew home on my own with a 3 year old and a 5 1/2 month old. Whilst feeding my youngest son, he managed to flick the spoon and because the 4 month sachets are runnier it covered the man next to me who was wearing a white polo shirt. The thicker sachets would mean this wouldn't happen which, when I was travelling on a train the other day, was a great relief!

These Ella’s Kitchen six months range pouches are very easy to use, look and taste good.  I really liked the flavours and I thought they tasted good. I used Ella's with my little boy and he loved them, and I really liked the way that they get gradually thicker and more chunky.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It is so easy to use these pouches as you know that the ingredients are healthy and nutritious and offer a wide range of new tastes. They are very easy to transport and feed baby when out and about.  I found feeding with pouches easier than making baby food.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

It would also be good to have more everyday meal options to link to the food we eat at home. They are also expensive, especially for when you first start weaning and baby is not eating much.

Tested by mum Karen Collins for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would highly recommend this product. It's easy to use, it reseals if the pouch isn't finished in one feed. The design is funky and appealing. The flavour combinations are excellent with the right balance of savoury and sweet. The texture is right for the stage of weaning and the food tastes good. It's clear that it's a high quality product. It's a desirable product for weaning.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The product is stored in a resealable pouch which is very handy for on the go feeding. The large variety of flavour combinations means that I can give my baby access to a large variety of tastes without needing to prep it all from fresh.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

This product is high quality but the price point is rather high. If it could be reduced slightly then this would make it more desirable.
