Boots Baby Electric Steriliser at a glance:

The Boots Baby Electric Steriliser is able to hold up to six bottles and sterilises in just six minutes. There’s also a helpful little tray to allow you to sterilise your teats and other accessories at the same time, as well as a built-in timer with a voice reminder to let you know when it’s done. The handy tongs allow you to remove the bottles after sterilisation without touching them. As long as the lid of the steriliser is kept securely on after a sterilisation cycle, the bottles and teats inside will remain sterile for up to three hours.

We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review...

How did this product make your life easier?

Ruth Alcorn says: I really liked it. It’s so easy to use and clean and I love that it has a timer and makes a noise when it’s finished its cycle. Really liked the quality especially as it’s much cheaper than other steriliser on the market at the moment. It’s quick to use and leaves my bottles and other things clean for three days. I like it.

Faye Stephens says: This product is amazing because it fits my bottles in properly. I have struggled using large mam bottles to fit them in a steriliser in bits and with plenty of room. I used to use the tommee tippee steriliser, but this one is much taller and easier to use. I've also noticed that the timer is really effective.

Nikki Swinburn says: This product makes it much easier and quicker to sterilise up to six bottles at a time. We have recently moved from five ounce bottles to bigger bottles and our previous microwave steriliser does not take the bigger bottles in large quantities. With this steriliser it takes six ten ounce bottles no issues and sterilises all of them in 6 minutes leaving me to have more time with my daughter, without having to do multiple loads and changing the water over time and time again.

Would you recommend this product to other parents?

Michaela Symes says: The boots steriliser has been a little temperamental when putting the accurate amount of water into the machine and set up was a struggle initially but it was just that I wasn’t putting the exact amount of water into it, however, once corrected the steriliser is quick to use. The plastic bottle holder inside the steriliser doesn’t feel solid when connected but it doesn’t affect the function. It’s a slim design and fits really well on our surface without taking up the whole surface top. This is such an important thing to me as we have such a small kitchen. Its easy to clean after each use but I can’t comment on descaling as I haven’t yet done this.

Sam Wallace-Long says: I would only recommend this to another mum if they were combi feeding and didnt have that many bottles to wash at the end of the day. It isn't too practical for purely formula fed babies due to the lack of space. you are also unable to remove the cord, so when it needs to be rinsed or throw away the access water, you have to take it to the sink with the plug which isn't at all practical.

Talia Webster says: It is simple and easy to set up, the instructions are clear and concise. The slim design means it doesn't take up too much room in the kitchen compared to other sterilisers that a bulky. The steam valve is at the top of the steriliser lid and so it steams upwards which is much safer as I have a toddler. Other sterilisers have them on the side and has always been a safety worry.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Jessica Williams says: I think the fact that you can fit so many items in, particularly large bottles, is fantastic it's also really easy to load things in, and the design means you're not constantly having cleaned items fall to the floor, requiring you to clean them again! I also like that is was so easy to put together, and the instructions were very clear. It would be hard to do things wrong with this product.

I like it.

Faye Stephens says: Yes, I've struggled to get my bottles in previous sterilisers and they've always taken up so much space. I think the price of this product is really good compared to others and I think that the price effectiveness is really good for families of a budget. The size is nice and compact and fits in the kitchen easily.

What changes would you make to this product?

Nikki Swinburn says: The biggest issue I have had with this product is that when adding water to the well to begin the sterilisation cycle, I have added it to the max indicator but the steriliser has cut off half way through the cycle without warning. A warning noise or just a sensor to say that it isnt at the maximum level would be more helpful instead of going to get the bottles to find the machine has turned itself off and there is no count down on the display.

Michaela Symes says: Since this steriliser needs an exact amount of water for it to work I would suggest either a line in the base to indicate how much water you need or supplying the buyer with a small measuring cup. I know a lot of people already have measuring cups but having a small one handy for the steriliser would be great.

Sam Wallace-Long says: I would definitely change the size of it so could hold more accessories, or the same amount accessories on the top tray than the bottles on the bottom. I would also make the plug detachable to make it easier to clean once it has been used. The product needs to consider that some bottles have more than just the lid/teat to wash and that some mums can use up to 8 bottles a day.
