Comotomo Baby Bottle

At a glance:

This soft, flexible bottle is a perfect shape and texture for little hands and is perfect for weaning as it simulates the breastfeeding process. The bottle is leak free and allows milk to flow steadily at your baby’s pace, helping to ease colic.

What they say:

“In designing our bottle, we set out to resolve all existing problems with standard baby bottles. We placed smart, non-leaking dual air-vents to prevent colic, made a truly wide-neck design for easy cleaning, and used hygienic silicone material so that you won’t ever have to worry about toxic chemicals. Above all, our bottle is designed to mimic breastfeeding to help babies easily transition back and forth from nursing to bottle feeding. It’s rescued so many families dealing with ‘nipple confusion’ and ‘bottle rejection’ that our Comotomo mamas coined the term ‘Breastfeeding in a Bottle!’”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I love this bottle - from the shape and feel, to the design. My baby got on so well with it as it was small enough for him to fit his tiny hands around. From my perspective, it was also easy to take apart and put back together. Milk flowed steadily and at my sons pace, which was great because he suffers with colic and normally feeding is difficult. He had no issues with winding after using this bottle.

How did this product make your life easier?

This bottle is easy to take apart and clean, which definitely made life easier. Also, the compact size makes it easy to transport and fit into a changing bag. My son loved touching the bottle and looked relaxed and happy when feeding. The bottle changed our whole feeding experience! Equally, there are no extra pieces to be added or inserted which makes the bottle quick and easy to use.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I most definitely would vote for this to win a Mother & Baby award now that I have tried it. It’s easy to use and has a soft and squishy, funky design which makes it appealing to the eye! This bottle is like no other I have seen before and I'm very impressed.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would not change anything with the bottle itself as I love every aspect of it.

Tested by mum Sarah Mackie for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product for its smooth design and flexibility. It is nice and soft for babies to touch and hold. Also, there are not too many parts to clean or to get lost which is great. The teat acts as a good transition from breastfeeding as it mimics the shape of a breast.

How did this product make your life easier?

As I have twins, I need to bring 6-8 bottles a day, out and about. The ones I currently have are big and rigid which can make closing the bag difficult. Packing these bottles makes life so much easier as they fit in better, due to their soft body – this has been so helpful.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes I love it!

What changes would you make to this product?

My only reservation would be the size. I was sent a 150ml bottle which was too small for the amount my babies feed, but I am aware that a bigger one is available.

Tested by mum Laura Shields for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This bottle is so comfortable and soft to hold, yet it seems durable, so I know it won’t leak in my bag. It's easy to clean out as you can reach all of the internal surfaces and the capacity is great too.

How did this product make your life easier?

It's very, very easy to use and even easier to clean due to the flexible bottle. The lid is reassuringly snug yet easy to remove and babies can feed themselves comfortably because they can grip the textured surface with their little hands.

Would you choose this product to win?

It encourages my children to be more independent in feeding themselves, and for this reason alone I would choose this bottle to win a Mother & Baby award. I also love the modern, quirky design and the fact that there aren't others on the market like it!

What changes would you make to this product?

The Comotomo bottle is a quality item that is innovative and forward thinking, but the price point puts me off considerably because I would need to buy 12 for my twins and that would set me back quite a bit. Therefore, if it was cheaper I would be much more inclined to buy more and recommend to my friends.

Tested by mum Amy Baker for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this bottle to a mum with a young baby. This bottle would be ideal for a mum weaning as it does mimic the feel of the breast, so it is a comfort to the baby and not such a big change. I would also recommend it due the fact that it is easy to clean because of the wide neck. It wasn’t absolutely ideal for me, just because my baby is a bit older.

How did this product make your life easier?

For my son’s age, this bottle wasn't really suitable. However, I do feel that it would make life easier for a mum who is weaning from breastfeeding to bottle, as it is such a great shape. My son liked to squeeze it as it is such a lovely texture.

Would you choose this product to win?

If I was a mum who was looking for a weaning bottle, this would be top of the list! The silicone is soft and supple and my baby fed very happily.

What changes would you make to this product?

The bottle was a bit flimsy and so it was hard to pour the milk in, maybe it could do with a slightly harder or flatter base to make it easier to stand up.

Tested by mum Elizabeth Delaney for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

If you are dealing with a bottle refuser or a baby who fusses while taking a bottle, this product is fantastic. The dual antic colic vent ensures she doesn't get bad wind and the wide teat around the ‘nipple’ makes her able to ‘latch’ effectively. The shape of the teat allows her to transition between breast and bottle easily and the soft silicone material is comforting for her to hold. This has literally been a God send. I now don't feel nervous leaving her with my husband or grandparents to feed as she is happy and calm!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is fantastic – there are so many positives! I am breastfeeding my little girl and can never get her to take a bottle, until I tried this one. Previously, she fussed, cried and became very gassy but now we have no issue and I feel confident leaving her for a few hours to get some me time.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I would! I tried multiple other breastfeeding-friendly bottles and spent a lot of money trying to find one that my little girl was happy with. She took to this one straight away. I think it is very stylish – particularly love that it comes in different colours, sizes and even flow rates for different ages. The anti-colic vent is genius, the shape of the teat is very nipple like and the whole bottle is super easy to clean! It’s brilliant!

What changes would you make to this product?

We have wracked our brains and have not been able to think of anything that needs to be improved – it is a perfect product.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The bottles are a lovely design and look really good with baby! The use of the teats is easy and baby really enjoyed using them and took to them straight away.  The bottles are really easy to clean and not too bulky to carry around so makes transporting really easy in bags!

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Once baby is old enough the bottles are a really good size for their little hands so they can feel independent and frees us mums’ and dads’ hands! They are quick and easy to wash or put in the steriliser! Also baby took to them easy so no fussy baby!

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I loved this product and thought the price was amazing for the value so I wouldn't change a thing!

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I love love love this bottle!! I love the feel of the silicone and the ease of cleaning is when you normally have to get into ridges of a bottle! it is safe in a dishwasher, microwave and sterilizer which is great and is made out of 100% safe materials which when you have a newborn is upmost importance.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This has made my life quicker and easier by taking the challenge out of cleaning the bottle, you are able to push the base of the bottle up so your hand can get into all the crevices and wash it thoroughly without having to worry that there is milk lurking (one of my fears!).

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The only downside to this bottle is it only comes in green or pink, I wish there was a more neutral colour so you are able to pick the bottle before baby is born, but I don't know what colour you would use as it would look awful with a grey bottle lid, maybe white?! I don't know but I do like the pink, I find the green a little garish!

Tested by mum Amy Hasler for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this Comotomo bottle because it is simple to construct with only 3 parts, it is very easy to clean due to the wide neck and large teat, and it is made with good quality materials. It is a very stylish and unusual bottle design, and it is made with soft silicone which feels nice to hold, warms up and is nice for the baby to touch and feel whilst feeding. The large teat is soft and good for babies who are breastfeeding as well or transferring over to bottles.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Life is easier using these bottles because they only have 3 parts to clean and put together, compared to other bottles who have up to 6! The parts are large with no fiddly bits to scrub out, and the bottle is a nice thing to hold when feeding, it makes it comfortable. My baby liked to use this bottle with the large soft teat, so feeding has been easy and the soft silicone bottle is nice for him to feel rather than a hard plastic one which makes me appreciate the different design of these bottles.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

To improve this product, the only thing really is the leaking by the seal around the neck issue we had. When feeding, sometimes I squeezed the bottle a bit by accident when moving or changing position, this meant the milk leaked out around the neck and caused quite a mess. It happened a few times. When the milk is down in the teat and the soft bottle is squidged, it comes right out. When you're feeding a baby, it's hard to not do this sometimes so it would be good to improve the seal or even make the hard part around the top of the bottle a bit bigger to try and avoid any squidging. I also think the price is quite high for a baby bottle.
