At a glance:

A great electric breast pump with a dual-pump functionality to mirror your baby’s feed. It’s a very effective pump, and great value for money. The pumps are soft, the bottles are a great size and the screen is big and easy to use. It’s quite noisy, but excellent quality and a really great buy.

What they say:

“This lightweight 2-in-1 electric breast pump from Lansinoh can be used as a single or double pump - you decide. You can either plug your pump into the mains when you're at home, or use with batteries (not included) when you want to express away from home. For your peace of mind, our electric pump also features a 'closed' pump system, which means that your precious milk does not enter the tubing. This also means that you have optimum suction, making your expression even more effective than before. Our pumps also come with our wide neck bottle which are compatible between different pumps, lids and teats.”

Tested by mum Fiona Kershaw for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This product was amazing! It is a double pump so you can pump from both breasts at the same time and it was easy to assemble. The two different speeds made it a realistic simulation of baby feeding, so I found it was very effective. The pump was able to be used from the mains and also from batteries and comes with a nice easy carry case.

How did this product make your life easier?

It made my life easier because it was easy to use. All parts that needed to be disinfected were easy to remove and pop in boiling water and the instruction booklet was very comprehensive. You can use it as a single pump or a double which is useful. There are two different sizes of nipple plates, which is good as sometimes these are too small and extra larger ones have to be ordered separately.

Would you choose this product to win?

The bottles remain upright even when all the accessories are plugged in and they come with purple bottle stands however they can stand up on their own, which others do not. I definitely think this should win in this category, as it is far superior compared to two other brands I have used. The parts are easy to take apart and clean so they remain hygienic. It simulates the most natural pattern of feeding (two different speeds), so allowed me to express a good amount of milk.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think it would be handy if there was some kind of strap so that you could attach the pump on and wear it. It is easy to hold both pumps in place with two hands, but a bit trickier with one hand, and with children and babies it is often useful to be hands free! Other than this, is it a very successful and a user-friendly pump.

Tested by mum Catherine Walker for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I'd recommend it as it is a great alternative to a manual breast pump, and gives the option to double pump. I've never used an electric breast pump before, so cannot compare to others, but in my view it's well designed and straightforward to use. I particularly like the design of the tube between the pump and the bottle, which doesn't need cleaning as it only uses air in the suction process.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes expressing milk much more straightforward – it is easy to set up, easy to use and importantly, easy to clean. The instructions are well written with useful tips included on how to store milk, and general health for nursing mothers.  Compared to a manual pump, it seems to pump a higher volume and the settings are very easy to change the level of suction depending on your preference. My daughter also found the Lansinoh bottles easy to take milk from.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I would choose this product above others on the market. Although it is expensive, it is so easy to use, and it is helpful that it is both mains and battery powered, so can be used in all situations. On the automatic setting, the suction strength varies, as to resemble the pattern of a baby at boob, which ensures a good milk flow. My only criticism would be that the storage bottle could be a little bigger.

What changes would you make to this product?

I'd increase the size of the storage bottles, as I think the ones provided are a little small. I'd also make the power cable a little bit longer. I sometimes found that the plastic bit that goes on to the boob was a little uncomfortable, but not so bad as to put me off using it, but perhaps they could have been made of a slightly softer plastic. Another slight negative was that if the nipple wasn't lined up completely in the centre, it could be a little abrasive, particularly on a high suction setting. To remedy this I just kept readjusting it when I noticed it had slipped slightly.

Tested by mum Vicky Gates for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

For portability, yes, I would definitely recommend this pump as it comes with a handy bag to carry it around and is light and small enough not to be a hassle. The comfort of the shields on the breast was nice and it didn't feel uncomfortable to pump, so for that I would give a positive response, however it didn't feel strong enough to allow my milk to flow.

How did this product make your life easier?

As a breastfeeding mum, I need a pump that is quick to assemble and also clean. This pump was very quick to put together and easy to take apart and clean, however if I was to be critical, I found the motor on it noisy and so trying to pump when my baby is asleep was a challenge. Also, I don't know if it is just me but I didn't feel like the suction on it was very strong which meant it didn't stimulate my breasts to let the milk flow, but I suppose it varies woman to woman.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product stands out above all others on the market as it is smaller in design and therefore easier to carry with you. However I found the motor to be quite noisy and also the suction to be quite poor for me personally.

What changes would you make to this product?

The one thing that I would change about this product would be to have more suction settings so that I could make it stronger. This is perhaps a flaw in the product as the pump I have at home has no problem with suction and I am able to produce plenty of milk.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The breast pump can be used with the mains adapter or with batteries making it really useful if you are travelling, or having to pump while at work. It's great that it can be used as either a single or double pump so you have the option of pumping one side while feeding on the other. I found it really comfortable to use and it has different pumping styles and strengths so you can choose which one suits you the best, or alter it throughout the pumping session.

How did this product make your life easier?

It's great that it can be battery powered and used if you are away and it even comes with a handy travel bag. I find the battery powered option most useful when you can't sit near a plug socket and I hate having wires. I like that I can use it as a double or as a single pump depending on how much I want to pump at the time. I also like the fact that you don't need to clean any of the tubing as it doesn't come into any contact with the milk, as this makes the washing up so much easier. It also comes with milk storage bags which is great if you aren't using the milk that you are expressing straight away, or if you are building up a freezer stash.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product because it is very easy to use and set up. I found that it was very comfortable to use and the different pumping styles and strengths are brilliant. The pump is quick and easy to take apart and clean when you've finished using it. It's also great that the tubing doesn't come into contact with any milk so you don't have the fiddly job of trying to clean the tubes.

What changes would you make to this product?

The breast pump is a bit loud, especially if you need to pump during the night or if you are pumping away from home. I found that, although it's great that it has the option of being battery powered, the base is quite heavy if you needed to travel with the pump. I also found it quite difficult to use as a double pump without the aid of a bra, so I think there should maybe be an option to have a pumping bra attachment included. I think the option of changing pumping styles is great, but I think it would be even better if you could save your settings for further use.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

There are many features of this product that make it desirable to 'expressing mums'. The pump is easy to assemble, easy to use and easy to clean - all important features when time is limited. The pump also sits very comfortably on the breast and has various modes (variable suction and a 'let-down' button) in order to make expressing a comfortable but efficient experience. Finally, the lightweight design and option to use of battery power means that it's easy to transport and allows for mums to easily express on the go.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Lansinoh 2in1 Double Electric Breast Pump is a fantastic product for mums who are regularly expressing milk. The pump is easy to use, easy to clean and is lightweight and compact enough to be easily transported. Being able to use it on mains power or with batteries meant that I could take the pump out with us and express on the go. What’s more, the fact that it is a double pump also meant that I could express more milk in a much quicker time.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product above others on the market as it is very flexible and can be tailored to suit an individual’s different needs and comfort levels! It’s a great product – thanks Lansinoh!

What changes would you make to this product?

Whilst this product has many pros, the one thing I would change would be the price - whilst I agree that the product is worth the retail price in terms of flexibility, comfort and ease of use, it is at the higher end of the price spectrum for breast pumps some parents may be put off by this.

Tested by mum Alicia Shirreffs for the Mother & Baby Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would absolutely recommend the Lansinoh double electric pump, thanks to its simplicity of use as well as the different phase settings. It is sleek and discreet in design, and the quality of the components feel high quality and robust. The digital screen makes it incredibly easy to alter the speed and suction, which makes for a really comfortable pumping experience.

How did this product make your life easier?

For me, the 2 minute let down feature on the product sped up my let down and I managed to yield more milk, more quickly than my current pump does (Ameda Lactaline double electric). This makes life much easier for me now I am a mum of two, as I don't have the luxury of as much time as I did when I expressed milk for my first child.

Would you choose this product to win?

I prefer this pump over othersdue to its comfort and effectiveness at removing the maximum amount of milk in a short space of time. I managed to express milk very shortly after I fed my little boy, which is something I am not usually able to do and I try to pump a small amount prior to a feed because of this. The ability to adjust the settings digitally is an extra feature which makes the unit feel as high quality as it is effective.

What changes would you make to this product?

So far, I can't think of anything that I would change about this product. It seems that Lansinoh really know their stuff about mums who breastfeed, and have considered comfort, speed and simplicity as factors that will make mums' lives easier. Expressing milk when you have more than one child is a difficult thing to fit into your day, however I think this product will continue to make it easier to do this.

Tested by mum Sarah Keen for the Mother & Baby Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This pump is very easy to assemble and clean. It comes with two different sizes of breast cushion, which is really important, as using the correct size will help prevent soreness when pumping. It's a closed pump system which means it's more hygienic than an open system, in which milk can enter the tubing. I also like the foldaway storage bag, which is a brilliant added extra.

How did this product make your life easier?

Using it as a double pump means that I can express milk twice as fast - always useful when you're a busy mum. Life is non-stop, and the last thing you really have time to do is sit down expressing milk, so anything that makes that job quicker is great! It's flexible enough that you can also use it as a single pump if you fancy pumping one side, while baby feeds off the other.

Would you choose this product to win?

I really love this breast pump. I think it's great, and I would actually choose it over the single electric pump that I bought with my first son. It's an amazing pump, really effective and efficient, and most of all, when you're spending a fortune on a new baby, the cost of this pump is so reasonable.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really don't think I'd change anything. It's fantastic. I guess if I was being really picky, I'd ask for some extra milk storage bags, and it'd be worth including a leaflet about the bras that hold the pump in place, as it's quite tricky to hold two bottles at once when you have other kids needing your attention. Some mums won't know about the bras, so it'd be a good upsell opportunity too :)

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to a fellow breastfeeding mother! I love that it is versatile and can be a single breast pump or double breast pump. Since receiving this product, expressing has been made more enjoyable, and am able to do it in half the time with the double functionality. It is very easy to use, and I like that there are two sized cones in order to be comfortable as possible for a range of sizes, and it is very comfortable. I like that there is a 'let down' function. The pump was packaged really very well and the pump comes with a plain black bag, so if you did need to travel it is very discreet and an ideal size for the pump.

How did this product make your life easier?

The double breast pump makes my life much easier when I need to express. I used to have a single breast pump, so to have a double breast pump that also has a let down function, I am able to pump more milk in half the time... it's such a revolution to me! Also, the timer on the LCD screen makes life easier as I used to time myself for a set time on each breast by using my phone, now I don't need to as it's on the pump. The LCD screen is lit which is great when I pump of an evening in low lighting.

Would you choose this product to win?

It has been a lovely experience pumping with this two in one breast pump. It is very comfortable, all very easy to clean and to store in the bag. Sleeping time of an evening is very precious once baby is asleep, so to have time spent on expressing halved due to the double functionality, is just brilliant! The one thing that really stands out for me is the let down setting, which I've never used before. It's fantastic for stimulating and initiating the milk flow. I love that the pump comes with a plain black shoulder bag which is great for transportability and very discreet if I needed to express whilst out and about.

What changes would you make to this product?

One thing that can be an issue is that you need to hold two bottles with one arm or hand whilst using the controls with the other hand. This probably isn't very efficient when expressing as the bottles and breast cushions could move, not achieving the best suction. Also, for busy mums who may want to check emails on their iPads etc, not having a spare hand free could be an issue. So if there was a way in which the bottles could be held to the breast more easily with only one arm and hand, then this would be taking this already fantastic product, one step further for convenience.

Tested by mum Louise Goodman for the Mother & Baby Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this double electric pump to a fellow mum for many reasons. It is lightweight, portable and powerful to name a few. I really like the way that it can be used as either a single or double pump and it is a closed system so no milk can get in the tubing and it is therefore a very hygienic method of expressing. It can be used with mains power or batteries making it versatile for different situations.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes my life easier as a mum as it allows me to express milk effectively and efficiently to allow other caregivers to feed my baby if required. It is lightweight and can be used with either batteries or mains power which means I can take it with me if I'm travelling unlike other cumbersome expressing systems.

Would you choose this product to win?

I feel it has all the features any pumping mum would require from a pump. It is portable, it can be used as either a single or double pump, it is a closed system, it is comfortable to use due to the silicone on the ends of the flanges, and most importantly it is effective in expressing milk with the let down phase and expression phase of which there are three styles to suit the individual user.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about this pump is that it would be good if it came with a system so you could pump directly into one of the same brand milk storage bags which you could then attach a momma teat onto like another well known brand of pumping system. Apart from this, I can't think of anything else I'd change.

Tested by mum Jenna Hirst for the Mother & Baby Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I like the versatility of being able to use this as a single pump or double pump, and the adaptability of being able to alter speed and strength of the pump. The unit is relatively quiet and expressing was easy and comfortable. It was good that it came with two cup sizes to ensure a comfortable fit easily.

How did this product make your life easier?

Breastfeeding twins it's hard to find time to express, so being able to express from both breasts at the same time, halting pumping time was very useful. It's great that it works from mains and from batteries, making it easy to take it places and not just use at home. It was nice that it comes with a bag to keep all the bits together neatly and safely.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would chose this over single pumps as it halves pumping time. It is easy to wash and sterilise, and easy to put together and take apart. I like that the unit makes each session adaptable, and it was easy to create a profile for each session depending on how I was feeling and how much I'd been feeding that day.

What changes would you make to this product?

I liked that you could store expressed milk in the bottles that were expressed into - but the bottles could have been bigger as I kept having to empty and reattach the bottles through the session.

Tested by mum Sally Dudley for the Mother & Baby Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Yes! It is good, light weight electric pump with the bonus of being able to use batteries as well. The instructions were in very small text which was hard to follow at times, but once all put together it was very simple and effective. The carry bag is a nice touch too! Being able to use it as a single pump whilst also feeding was really useful and effective. It has a good seal so no leakage whilst pumping.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Being able to pump both breasts at the same time means I saved time and was able to express more. It was also very effective so I got more off than with my had pump. Its very quick and easy to disassemble to clean and sterilize.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

A quick set up guide on a piece of card in larger text would have been good. The instruction manual was quite daunting and actually, once I started, the set up was far more simple than I expected. Also, maybe provide two different sized cups rather than two the same. I was ok with the ones provided but they are quite small and I could imagine some people finding them too small.

Tested by mum Loiuse Parr for the Mother & Baby Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I liked the design of this pump as it did not look too clinical and was a nice color. The storage bag was very useful too. I was disappointed that I did not seem to be able to express very much milk compared to other pumps. The breast shields were too big and didn't create enough suction. It was very weak.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I liked the bag which made it easy to travel.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would change the breast shield size and it was too big and I think that is why the suction was so weak.

Tested by mum Chris Brotherton for the Mother & Baby Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Love the idea of changing from one pump to two, can't recall the option to do this with any others, great flexibility for milk output. Can be used on mains or batteries, which means you have a bit more freedom if you are on the go or in the car for instance. Easy to clean after a few disassemblies as there are rather. Few parts to aseemble.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I love the choice to have one or two pumps, obviously I get A LOT more milk when double pumping and this is great for planning ahead or getting stuff done quicker. I love using batteries and being able to sit out side or away from the plug, you can relax a bit more.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The option to use rechargeable batteries would be so helpful and lower costs of replacing spent batteries.

Tested by mum Katy Orr for the Mother & Baby Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This pump is an attractive design with lots of curves and smooth edges.  It is a handy design and the controls are easy to use.  The funnels are comfortable and have extra plastic padding.  Although the diaphragms are a pretty colour it would be useful to attach them better to the pump.  The teat provided with the bottle is excellent, smooth and comfortable for the baby's mouth.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

As a twin mum, expressing milk is almost obligatory. It is important to do this with a product that is easy and quick to use (actually this product is the least efficient of the ones that I have used) so that you can store milk to give at a different time or by a different person...a double pump saves time.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I found that the maximum power setting was not strong enough.  Although comfortable this meant that pumping took longer than usual and that pumping did not fully empty my breasts.  The instructions suggest not to sterilise in the microwave.  My steriliser is a quick and easy microwavable one and it would be better if you could use thia pump in conjunction with it.
