Tested by mum Lauren Rukin for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I'd definitely recommend the Vital Baby 8 piece Start Weaning Set! Nice looking and easy to use, the small/medium tubs with lids are perfect for freezing single portions. The larger bowl is great, it has a 'lip' for holding whilst feeding and the lid has a spoon space so no losing the spoon in your bag! The spoons are soft and flexible, they seem to be a bit shallow short. The cup could do with handles and the 'lid' broke quite quickly but the spout is nice and soft and the fact it can be free flow is ideal!

How did this product make your life easier?

The products are easy to clean (including dishwasher safe) and can be used in the microwave which is perfect! The little tubs are easy to stack and store and the larger bowl makes feeding the baby nice and easy. The products also look nice and feel nice and sturdy.

Would you choose this product to win?

The products are really useful and a really good starting point for weaning. The Vital Baby 8 piece Start Weaning Set looks nice (the colours are lovely and vibrant and don't seem to have been effected by washing yet (by hand and in the dishwasher)), are easy to use and safe for the baby. As an added extra the baby loves to chew on the spoons as they are nice and soft on his teething gums!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the sippy cup slightly, maybe have removable handles and definitely a better lid as this one broke after first use! I would also maybe make the spoons with a little more depth and the handles a bit longer!

Tested by mum Jenny Highton for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I absolutely love the 8 piece weaning kit. I think every part is a great size, so it is easy to store, and they all seem to be great quality. The little pots are great for travelling with snacks and I think the design of the bowl with the spoon attached to the top is genius!

How did this product make your life easier?

The tiny pots are brilliant for storing small snacks when out and about. They save me from finding raisins in my handbag for weeks. Also, the bowl and spoon set is perfect for dinner on the move. I don't have to worry about keeping the spoon clean separately in a bag as it is contained within the bowl.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love this product. There is nothing else necessary for weaning that is not contained within this set. The tiny pots (also suitable for storing breast milk!) are the perfect size for snack size portions of fruit, the little snack pots are great for feeding smaller meals or snacks on the move and the spoons are the perfect shape for clearing the bowl.

What changes would you make to this product?

Most babies would probably have no problem with any of this set. My little girl, however, seems to have trouble eating off the spoons. They are perfect for getting all the food off the sides of the bowls but for some reason she struggles to get the food off the spoon. It may be because she is not far into her weaning journey, but maybe a more traditional shaped spoon would be better.

Tested by mum Margaret Mitchell for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The flexibility provided by the varying array of tubs, bowls, and spoons as well as a beaker has everything needed for weaning and provides an excellent traveling set. The beaker is a good size for little hand with its own lid and the spoons are easily negotiated by small’s hands and mouths. So far the tubs and spoons have remained stain free.

How did this product make your life easier?

The tubs in the Vital Baby 8 piece Start Weaning Set allow you to efficiently store pre-made dinners as well as left overs. The containers can be easily stored in the fridge and so far have proven to be relatively watertight. As we are a family that eats out regularly this has made taking food with us for the little one far easier and is making the whole experience more enjoyable.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product over its peers as it is a complete set, with the exception of a bib, and is competitively priced. The quality of each of the individual from the spoon to the small storage tubs is excellent and has all appears relatively easy to clean. What changes would you make to this product?

If I was to change anything about the product it would be the following: The lid for the beaker has teeth that insert into the spout which are very fine and flexible with the worry of them breaking, additionally the lid come fully off which makes it vulnerable for getting lost. An addition of a bib would round the set of as it has everything else required for starting the weaning processes.

Tested by mum Anna Booker for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This is a great product, it has everything you need when starting out on the weaning journey. This set is perfect for anyone who is about to start weaning their baby as it includes all the essentials required, a bowl, a cup, spoons, freezer pots, it's an essential purchase! Also available in different colours so suitable for everyone.

How did this product make your life easier?

It has everything I need all in one box. No need to buy separate spoons and bowls and cups etc as it is all here, everything that you need. The freezer and storage pots are a brilliant size in terms of saving up portions to use another day, ideal for little tummies. The products are made from great quality materials.

Would you choose this product to win?

There would be no reason to buy another item as everything you would need is included with this product therefore this product should win the Best Feeding product for Weaning. It is great quality and a very reasonable price, I would definitely recommend this item to any parents about to embark on the weaning adventure.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change would maybe to offer alternative colours rather than blue or pink as some parents don't like to stereotype their child by selecting blue for a boy and pink for a girl, maybe the item could be made in yellow or orange or various other colours.

Tested by mum Sarah Quartley for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend the Vital Baby 8 piece Start Weaning Set to other mums! It is great value for money, great quality items and so useful! The bowl with the lid and spoon is absolutely essential for days out. The Sippy cup comes apart so that you can clean every part of it and you can adjust the flow which is great. The freezer pots are handy. The spoons are great as the don't have a big dip so makes it easy for baby to get all the food off. The storage pots are great for at home and out and about.

How did this product make your life easier?

This weaning set makes life as a mum a lot easier in many ways. The bowl with the lid and spoon is great for going out as you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to dispose of the food once baby has finished. Freezer pots are great if baby doesn't finish a whole meal or even better for purees'. Overall this is a fantastic set.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would definitely choose the vital baby 8 piece weaning set, it has everything you would require to begin the weaning process with your baby and is also great as you progress. It's great value for money and good quality for the price. For me I would have bought it for the travel bowl alone but all the other bits are a great addition!

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The set has the basics you need to start weaning your baby. The tumbler is handle free and my 8 month old was able to hold it easily and feed himself. The bowl has a good sized handle for a firm hold and has smooth rounded sides making it easy to scoop food out. The lid is great for on the go. The spoons are flexible making it easy for mum and baby to get food off and into the mouth however they are short handled meaning they are great for using with the bowl and lid cover but not good for getting food out from the bottom of a jar of baby food.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The tumbler is small enough to fit easily into a handbag or changing bag and with the added bonus of a spout cover so it can be kept hygienic. The different sized pots are fab for taking portions of baby food out and about. I personally love keeping small finger foods such as blueberries and multigrain hoops in the small square ones as they hold enough for a quick snack without taking up much room in your bag.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

There are 3 short handle spoons that come with the set, it would be handy to have one long handled one which would make the set a little bit more versatile.

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Lovely unisex colour, lids a great really watertight, all items can be frozen, heated in and washed in the dishwasher.  The spoons are firm but flexible, nice to hold for both me and baby.  The bowl is ergonomic, lovely to hold and  very well sealed so is brilliant for use in any kind of travel. It would be useful to have a few more of the smaller pots so as you could do batches of foods, but the soft bottoms make easy work of extracting the contents. The bigger food pots are good size for any baby/child. The sipper cup leaks in your bag, but is good for just on the table during meal times and once you take the valve out it’s a real free flow cup.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It’s a good travel weaning kit that can be used from 6 months up to school ages really as the items are really useful.  It’s a good investment.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

It would be nice to have a few more pots– as they are very useful.  It would also be useful to have handles on the sippy cup.

Tested by mum Rebecca Biggins for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The Vital Baby 8-piece start weaning kit has been a very welcome addition to my kitchen. The unisex orange colour is really appealing - usually everything in baby land is either pink or blue, so this kit makes a welcome change.  Everything is BPA-free and the items have generally been well designed, with soft spoons and non-slip features on each item.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Having almost everything you need in one set has made the weaning process much easier, as you're able to try out the various items without spending a huge amount on unnecessary equipment.  I found that the prep n' go food pots (lidded pot’s big enough for one portion) were perfect for measuring and storing my son's meals, so I'd definitely stock up on more of these having tried them out. Although first appearing like a bit of an afterthought, the sippy cup also became a firm favourite.  It doesn't have handles, but instead has non-slip panels down the side, enabling my son to become used to a proper cup, and has a variable flow, from completely non-spill to free-flowing.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I'd change a couple of things - firstly I'd make the teeny tiny freezer pots much bigger.  Even babies that have just started weaning would eat more than you can fit into one of these pots, and so for me they were just useless…  Secondly, although I like the colour, there's something that just looks a little bit cheap about this set - it doesn't really have the good looks that would appeal to mums, although this is misleading as it's a great set, and particularly good value.

Tested by mum Aimee Hawke for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This is a perfect little kit to buy just before you are ready to start weaning. It includes a number of weaning pots in various sizes and a larger bowl and spoon set for transporting little meals. I also liked the little drinking cup, as it was a perfect size.  The design is good and it looks smart and the little pots stay together well making sure any contents is kept safe.  The variety of pots makes it easy to transport a range of foods. I especially like the medium pots for my emergency supply of rice cakes.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It means you have everything you need to get started with weaning your baby. I would not recommend buying anything else before you know which bits you find most useful. It was the perfect amount of extras for anyone focusing on baby led weaning.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Having 2 of the cups would be perfect especially if one was made suitable for taking out and about. The kit would then be complete.

Tested by mum Karen Collins for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this kit as it contains everything to start weaning my baby. The set is easy to use and looks bright and colourful. The products are good quality and have been designed to be user-friendly for parents. The features for travel such as lids and spaces for the spoon are very helpful when on the go.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The soft tip spoons are especially good as they were soft on baby's gums. The pots were a good size as freezer pots and as snack pots for on the go. The bowls are very handy for on the go as the lids were able to contain the spoon.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The cup is rather small and baby struggled to get the water from it. Perhaps handles and a slightly larger cup size would be helpful.

Tested by mum Nancy Paterson for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The vital baby weaning set is really well-designed and easy to use, the spoons are really soft and baby-friendly and all the bowls and pots are cleverly designed to make weaning easier and stress free. I liked the bright colours and the soft edges. It's easy to clean and dishwasher safe. It's a really good value for money and lasts well.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It made starting weaning a lot easier. The bowl with a lid is a great idea for going out and about and I loved all the little lidded pots, they are just the right size for little ones first tastes of food.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would like to buy it in bigger sets with more spoons as it's so useful I'm sure I'll need more of it!

Tested by mum Samantha Monk for the M&B Awards 2016:

These products are typical of Vital products, well-made bright and attractive and easy to clean. The weaning kit contains everything you need for starting out in weaning so it doesn't matter if you are using purees or finger foods, there is something of use.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It’s great to have a variety of options at hand for both feeding and storing baby’s food.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

More spoons will always be needed.

Tested by mum Chris Brotherton for the M&B Awards 2016:

Would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

So bright and colourful, looks really pleasing to use. Cleans brilliantly and was safe in our steriliser. The sippy cup is my fave as it isn't too big for little hands and fits really well in our changing bag.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Lots of pots and cup and cutlery in an all in one set is perfect for meal times and to take out altogether as a kit.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I wouldn't change anything, maybe just add a bit more cutlery.

Tested by mum Fleur Bryant for the M&B Awards 2016:

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The weaning process is a long and daunting, these products really help by being well made, attractive and very innovative.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The beaker lid is fiddly and could easily be lost.
