At a glance:

We love the No Harm Nipple Balm by My Expert Midwife! A lovely think consistency, the balm soaks in easily and heals sore skin without needing to spend ages rubbing it in. The smell is beautiful and the pump bottle is handy. The balm is 100% natural so it doesn’t need to be wiped off before feeding – a huge plus!

How did this product make your life easier?

Catherine: This product was truly life-changing for a breastfeeding mother! Its consistency if so far from that of other nipple creams I have used - not at all like glue - and as such, I can apply and then pick up my baby without having to spend 5 minutes trying to remove the residue from my hands. The pump made it even easier to use and I felt more hygienic. It really was a time saver - and with a little one and a toddler at home, every second literally counts.

Cate: This is a nice product that applies nicely. I felt that it did soothe my nipples and made them feel more comfortable. I have no reservations about using this product as a breastfeeding mother and I didn’t notice that my baby suffered any effects from me using it. It was a nice product to have in my nappy bag.

Elizabeth: It is good quality, though personally I prefer the Lanisoh cream as it worked better for me. I did find this cream was easy to store as I had a smaller size so it didn’t take up much room in my changing bag. I tried this product after using the spritz for bits which is fantastic and really helped after my delivery.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Christina: I would recommend it because it does what it says on the tin. I think most mums trying to breastfeed will suffer from cracked and bleeding nipples at least at the beginning, so this product is one to get into their hospital bag before the baby is even born! The design of the bottle makes it look and feel like a luxury product and it has a helpful measure of how much to apply.

Miranda: I would recommend this product to a fellow mum because of the ease of use as it was well thought out using a pump. The consistency meant it was easy to use and did not need to be warmed between fingers to be applied. It did not need to be removed prior to feeding so again a positive for ease of use.

Julie: I liked this product for everyday use. The addition of oils to the lanolin gives it a silky and luxurious feel. The bottle is well designed and looks nice on my bathroom shelf. The size of the product is good too as it is small enough to pop in your changing bag if you are going out for the day or in a travel bag for the weekend. Although it’s small you only need to use a little so it lasts for ages.

Would you choose this product to win?

Catherine: Yes - above all others I have tried I would 100% buy this. The consistency of this product is its magic. It is light, smooth, easily pumped from the tube, easy to apply and works! I cannot stress enough the importance of being comfortable when feeding - for me the first month (or so) it was difficult to be comfortable - but this saved the day - with a smooth and light consistency and usable on my baby too. I felt safe using it and even applied to my baby's dry skin. Magic!

Julie: Personally I wouldn’t pick this product over a 100% lanolin product because I feel that 100% lanolin works much better when you have sore or cracked nipples. My nipples were stinging a bit one time when I used this and they were a bit cracked so it put me off. I don’t think it gives a ‘barrier’ like 100% lanolin either. The price is a bit too high for me too and would put me off buying it.

Swinda: I would choose this product above other balms on the market. Overall, it is a superior quality. The balm itself is not sticky and is light and far more pleasant than other balms available. It also works well and I think other mothers will find that it aids breastfeeding. The little bottle it comes in is convenient and easy for mothers to use wherever they are.

What changes would you make to this product?

Rachael: The price. I’m not sure this can be changed. In terms of the product I wouldn’t actually change anything it’s very good and very effective. I wish it was something new mums didn’t have to buy, to be honest.

Caitlin: If I could change one thing about the no harm nipple balm it would be the price. I love this nipple balm but the price compared to other nipple creams is significantly higher making it unlikely I could buy it again. I also think the name is inaccurate with the consistency being more of an oil than a balm.

Louise: I feel the No Harm Nipple Harm is very expensive for the size of the packaging and how much you receive. For long term use, this isn’t going to accessible to all mums due to the cost of the product. There are other products available where you get more product for about half the price. The price is the only thing I would change about this product.
