At a glance:

We love the No Harm Nipple Balm by My Expert Midwife! A lovely think consistency, the balm soaks in easily and heals sore skin without needing to spend ages rubbing it in. The smell is beautiful and the pump bottle is handy. The balm is 100% natural so it doesn’t need to be wiped off before feeding – a huge plus!

How did this product make your life easier?

Sally: This product is amazing. Not only does it help soothe my sore nipples very quickly, but it's also very easy to apply as then one-handed applicator makes it easy and mess-free. It's natural and safe for baby and so I don't need to worry about removing the product before breastfeeding. I pop it on after every feed even though my sore, chapped nipples have cleared up now as I feel it protects and moisturise them from further damage.

Julie: Its a very flexible product, it can be used not only as a nipple cream but also as a lip balm, babies bum cream, dry skin, etc. I have used this more on the baby than myself as I've not been bothered as much this time around with nipple problems but it has been great on mine and babies skin, I love that it is all-natural.

Sammi: It is a really easy product to use, the pump is simple for one-handed use if needed and the product can be applied easily and smoothly. It helps my mum-life. In the fact that it takes the pain away and helps sooth issues, I might have with breastfeeding which is essential in the early days to ensure a successful breastfeeding journey.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Juliette: The consistency of the balm is lovely and is really soothing and easy to apply. I found that if I keep on top of applying it regularly after each feed my nipples recovered very quickly. I also felt reassured that it wasn't causing any harm to my little one. It doesn't contain any nasties and it also seems to soak in very easily.

Nina: I would recommend this product as it seemed to solve the soreness whenever I had any, is a manageable size and being a pump is easy to squirt straight on the nipple when you are trying to do everything one-handed while holding a baby. The pump is also easy to wipe clean and the product doesn't get smeared around the opening of the container like a tube would.

Naomi: Yes. It is quite expensive but very versatile. Lanolin is really useful especially in the first few weeks of breastfeeding and I don't know many mums who have managed without it. I would recommend to anyone who is or planning to breastfeed. Because this is a slightly thinner mix as it also contains a couple of natural oils, it is easier to apply than some of the thicker lanolin creams.

Would you choose this product to win?

Jade: I would choose this product above others on the market, not because it works any better as it works quite similarly, but because of the fact you can use it one-handed and it pumps out so easily, rather than trying to squeeze it out of a tube. It is less thick than lots of other nipple balms too which allows you to apply it more easily.

Catherine: It really does help to treat sore nipples! It really helped me during a difficult few days in my breastfeeding journey. It is much easier and comfortable to apply than other nipple balms I have used due to its more watery consistency but it still stays on without coming off onto breast pads or clothes. It doesn't leave a sticky residue on your skin or on the baby's mouth compared to other nipple balms.

Katie: I would use this product again as I found it effective and easy to use. I do think it is not as good value for money when compared with alternative similar products on the market which is one of the main downsides. I have previously used alternatives that were as effective and much cheaper so if I was on a tight budget I probably wouldn't buy this again.

What changes would you make to this product?

Sally: Nothing..... absolutely nothing. This product is perfect. The only thing I would recommend is looking into a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way to package the product as it's a natural product already? Although this may impact the applicator etc. I also suggest you look at marketing this much wider, it has so many uses and I think most households would love this product even if they don't have children!

Jade: If I could change one thing about this product it would be to make it slightly easier to wash off your hands somehow. Once I have used it I find that it’s very sticky on my fingers and when I wash it, it takes more than one wash to remove the residue of the balm. I’ve not been able to wipe it away or complete use all I get out the tube on my nipple as it always leaves a layer on my fingers.

Julie: My only bugbear with this product and intact with any lanolin product is that it can be quite greasy and I find it can stain light coloured clothes. I've only noticed this whilst going bra-free at nights, however, it would not stop me buying the product as the benefits are great. All in all its a great product and I would recommend it.
