We say: This has lots of useful functionality: remote-control pan, tilt and zoom features on the camera, plus night vision, talkback, temperature gauge and a colour screen. It’s got a good range and alerts you when you’re out of reach – handy for bigger houses. All our testers remarked on the good picture quality.

Tested by mum Christina:

So simple to set up and it gives a much better view of Ethan than some of the other models. It looks really stylish too, which isn’t of huge importance to me, but I do like that it doesn’t look out of place in his room and doesn’t feel obtrusive. This will be brilliant as Ethan gets older because I can move the camera angle without disturbing him.

Tested by mum Felicity:

This comes with a big pack of instructions, only a few pages of which are in English. It’s slightly irksome to set up – a screwdriver is required just to close the battery section. It performed well with clear, colour video on an easy-to-use parent unit with remotely controlled pan and tilt. The lullabies are quite traditional, but not as soothing as on other monitors.

Tested by mum Lindsey:

This was confusing – there are several instruction booklets with conflicting information, so we had to figure out what the different icons meant through trial and error. The screen is a good size and the pan and zoom is very good. The battery doesn’t last long, though, and I don’t like how it goes into sleep mode and doesn’t come back on unless you press the button.
