At a glance:

This Aldi Mamia Baby Shampoo is great value for money – 500ml for under a pound! The tear-free claim lives up to its name, and our panel of mum testers reported no grizzly babies at bath time. The smell is lovely, and the shampoo is approved by paediatricians.

What they say:

"Mild baby shampoo with a tear-free formula that is suitable for newborns, enriched with vitamin E for nourished and soft hair and skin."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes I would recommend this product to a friend because it comes in a large 500ml bottle that will last a long time and is under £1 which makes it very good value for money.  It has a nice smell and the no tears formula make it perfect for babies. It leaves my daughter’s hair clean and soft with no tangles.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is really gentle on my baby's hair and skin. The shampoo is approved by paediatricians and has a tear-free formula which is great. It makes a nice lather and doesn't irritate my baby’s eyes. It rinses out easily and leaves my daughter's hair clean and tangle free and contains Vitamin E that keeps her skin and hair protected and nourished.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product above others on the market because it is affordable and leaves your baby’s hair in a lovely condition for half the price of other leading brand products. The shampoo makes a very good lather as well.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about this product it would be the smell of the shampoo. The shampoo lathers very well but I feel that it smells more like an adult shampoo rather than a baby shampoo. I would prefer for the shampoo to have more of a baby smell. It would be good if the range was extended to include a baby moisturiser too.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would recommend this product to other mums – it does exactly what it says on the tin and better than other leading brands in my opinion. The packaging is simple and durable, it has been dropped on the floor a few times and none of the packaging was damaged, which is a bonus because as mum you have enough spills to clean up over the years!

How did this product make your life easier?

The shampoo is of very high quality. Other high street brands shampoo irritated my son’s eyes, but this Mamia Baby Shampoo was so gentle and there were no tears! I know that I am using a good quality product when it reduces my mum guilt for making my baby cry in the bath!

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product should win as it is great value for money: under a pound for a big bottle is really good and it lasts for ages, even with having a bath every night. It’s simple - the packaging is subtle. It's a good quality product and the smell is amazing, it almost makes me want to put it on my hair.

What changes would you make to this product?

Maybe add a travel range of the shampoo so there is a smaller version to take away, as the bottle is quite large and takes up a bit of room. Overall though, I am very impressed!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This is excellent value for money – it works just as effectively as other similar, yet more expensive products currently on the market. There were no allergies or rashes when using this product and the shampoo cleaned my baby's hair properly and left a lovely smell after. The effects are long lasting and also makes for an excellent bubble bath and shower gel – no negatives at all to report!

How did this product make your life easier?

You can use it as a bubble bath as well which means that it doubles up as two products, which always makes life easier when bathing a slippery bath. Also it is tear-free which makes bathing baby so much easier and more enjoyable!

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes! It is cheap and works perfectly for my little one, catering to sensitive skin and smelling gorgeous.

What changes would you make to this product?

Absolutely none!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I'd definitely recommend this to a friend as it is fantastic value for money. At under a pound for a big bottle, you're getting something which is pretty much exactly the same as the leading brands. We usually use Johnson's but I’d say this is just as good, if not better. The smell is gorgeous and leaves my daughter's hair fresh and clean.

How did this product make your life easier?

This shampoo makes it easier for me as a mum as it is easy to use and comes in a large bottle which will last me a long time. Meaning I'm having to buy less, making it great value for money. Once I've washed my daughter's hair it stays fresh and clean for longer than when I've used the leading brands.

Would you choose this product to win?

I'd definitely choose this product above others in the market. I usually buy Johnson's but this does the exact same job at a fraction of the price. In my opinion, it should win a Mother & Baby award as mums are always looking for ways to save money whilst maintaining quality products for their children. I'd certainly say that this shampoo ticks all of those boxes.

What changes would you make to this product?

I have noticed that when using this product my daughter is rubbing her eyes more so maybe it stings a little. This could be improved to ensure that it is a completely no tears recipe, but it could just be that my daughter doesn't like having her hair washed! Other than that I have no complaints at all about this product - it's fantastic!
