At a glance:

The Cuddledry hands free towel stood out as it makes the after-bath drying process comforting and much more practical when baby is cold and wriggly. Our panel of mum testers thought the quality was excellent – the towel is both thick and super soft and the hood feature keeps baby covered and warm from head to toe. The only downside for our mums was the price, at nearly £30 it is a bit of an investment.

What they say:

"Out of the bath and into your arms, in the cuddliest, most natural way possible. This apron towel has an innovative design which leaves both your hands free to lift your baby from the water, and keeps you dry. Put its hood on the baby’s head, and they are instantly snuggled into a wonderfully warm and soft double layer of gorgeous bamboo and pure cotton, and you can give them a lovely cuddle without getting wet. It’s simple, it’s safe, and it brings you and your baby even closer together."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The towel is very soft to touch - probably softer than any towel I've ever used and I can imagine how great this feels against my baby’s delicate, soft skin. It is particularly great if you have to bath your baby alone, as the neck strap is very easy to handle, meaning that I can transfer my baby onto the bed with absolutely no fussing or difficulty. The towel stops me getting wet and because you can wear it whilst you are bathing your baby, it is incredibly easy to pick baby up out of the bath, transfer them onto you and quickly pull the hood over their head to keep them warm. It is also a lot bigger than other towels which means my baby can fit in it nicely.

How did this product make your life easier?

I used to get soaking wet during bath time but since using the Cuddledry, I haven't got a single splash of water onto my clothes. We have quite a small bathroom, with not a lot of space to lay my baby on the floor to wrap her up into a towel, so I used to always pull her against my body and wrap the towel over her whilst standing up. I always ended up with a huge wet patch over my clothes. This product is particularly great during lonesome bath times when I don't have my partner with me to help out.

Would you choose this product to win?

While this product makes my life much easier during lonesome bath times, the price of the product throws me off. It would work out at almost £60 for me to buy two towels and this is way out of my price range (I like to have a fresh bath towel at every wash so would need to buy more than one). The material is incredibly soft and the size of the towel is very useful because all the other towels that I have for my baby are getting too small for her.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I were to change one thing about this product, I would probably change the price of it. It is retailed at £29.99 which, to some people, is completely out of their budget for a bath towel. If you're like me and like to have a fresh towel at every bath time, and a bath every day, then you'll have to buy more than one to save washing it every day.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This towel is very thick and warm, which is great for keeping baby warm when getting out of a warm bath to cold air. I love that I can bath baby and have both hands free to get her out and dry, the fastening round the neck is very useful. It is beautifully soft even after washing and being tumble dried well too. It's much bigger than my other baby towels and so should last longer and I love that's it made of bamboo and so is more hygienic than cotton.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is much easier getting baby out of the bath using this towel than with a traditional baby towel where you need three hands to hold the towel and a wet wriggling baby. Alice loves her baths but hates getting out and dry. With this I could pick her up from the bath and give her cuddles straight away to calm her down whilst drying her. I didn't need to place her on the floor like I have had to previously. The hood is also very useful in keeping her warm and cosy and drying her hair.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would never have picked this towel before I tried it as it's quite expensive for a baby towel that will be used for quite a short time. But it's so much bigger than my other baby towels that it would be great for a toddler too. It's so soft and thick, making it super cosy for baby and I found it very absorbent too. Being able to have both hands free to cuddle baby after a bath without dropping the towel or trying to juggle everything was so helpful. You can wear it whilst bathing baby too as I found it protected me from the dangers of being next to a splashing baby.

What changes would you make to this product?

The fastening around the neck is a brilliant idea but as the towel is so thick and big I found it hung quite heavy on my neck, especially when it was wet. Holding the baby in it when drying obviously took the weight off me, but when bathing her it did rub my neck a little.

Tested by mum Stevie Ingram-Palmer for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to mums if they mentioned any concern when getting their child out of the bath, as this would be perfect for that situation. Other than that I would not - this is because whilst the design is good, personally I'm just as happy to use a 'normal' towel for my baby boy.

How did this product make your life easier?

It was very handy to have the towel ready to use without needing to reach for it. Especially useful when bathing a newborn as you don't want to take your eyes off them and with this product you don’t need to. It made getting Oliver out of the bath much easier and stopped me getting wet at the same time.

Would you choose this product to win?

This is unique in its design so if I was looking for something that kept me dry and enabled me to have my baby's towel ready to hand without needing to look away, then yes I would. This is because the quality is very good - the towel is thick and extremely soft and fluffy - just as you would want your baby's towel to be.

What changes would you make to this product?

This product works very well and the quality is great - however for me personally I would never pay £29.99 for one baby towel. Whilst the product itself is great and I wouldn’t make changes to it, I would bring the price down to £15.99 without an effect on the quality of the product.

Tested by mum Hollie Wade for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I think it makes for an easier bath time as you are reassured that you’re holding your baby safely whilst trying to dry at the same time. As it attaches around your neck, you know that you are unable to drop any part of the towel or get in too much of a tangle (I'm sure we've all been there). It has a hood to put over baby's head too!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes getting out the bath a nicer experience for both mother and baby. My little one hates getting out of the bath and being able to properly cuddle him makes it less of a big deal. It also protects me as I'm normally soaking wet trying to make the stress of leaving the bath after bath time better!

Would you choose this product to win?

It's a lovely product with a really soft and natural feel to it. It feels the best for my baby's skin and I would choose this over another towel solely because of that. It's cuddle dry feature makes it much easier to handle my wiggly six-month-old without worrying about dropping the towel. It also means he's dry just from wriggling by the time we've walked to his room!

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change is that I feel the hood should be in a different place. It's in the corner and I feel it would be better in the middle as it would give you an option to cuddle both ways. My husband is left handed so he has to hold our baby the other way, which feels awkward for him.

Tested by mum Jen Lloyd for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The design is simple and straightforward to use but is so effective. It is a must have product that makes bath time a whole lot easier for both mum and baby. The towel itself is good quality and so comfortable, my son loves it!  As well as being a nice practical size, it also washed quite nicely.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product really did change bath times in our household! The towel made getting my son out of the bath safer, kept him warm and out of the cold quicker and also kept me from getting wet. The fact that the towel is attached to you definitely makes things feel more secure, especially as he got bigger and wrigglier!

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this product is excellent and should win in this category. The fact that it attaches to you makes it a unique product. This feature is the major selling point and makes the towel worth buying. It is also great quality and is a bit of a must have for all parents.  I will be buying another couple of towels!

What changes would you make to this product?

I think the one downfall with this product is the retail price of £29.99, as I personally feel this is overpriced. I don't think the average new mum would be prepared to pay this for a towel, albeit a very high quality and innovative one such as this. I think a lower price would make it so much more popular

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This product is such a good idea as its so handy to put on before giving baby a bath and not only does it protect me from babies splashes, it's so much easier to take baby out of the bath and put him straight into my arms and wrap him up. The popper fastening at the neck makes it seamless and easy to take off and lay baby down.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This product makes bath time easier as I don't have to faff about with laying towels out on the floor and baby doesnt get as cold because he's straight out of the bath and into my arms, enabling me to cuddle baby dry without putting him down and picking him back up again. It's a really simple idea but makes bath time much easier.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The only thing I noticed was that the fabric shed a little bit on the first use - I would recommend washing it before the first use.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I love this towel. It's  been made completely with parents in mind. Trying to juggle a towel and a wet baby when getting them out of the bath can test any parent. (they are like a wet bar of soap, only wriggling too) Speed is key when getting my little one out of the bath as i don't want him to get cold. This unique design helps take away the stress and worry.  It is easy to use. So fluffy, soft against baby's skin and practical. The Cuddledry is easy to wash and maintain. It is also available in a varity of colours and patterns.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Bath time is a special time for us. It signifies the end of the day for our little one, so i like it to be relaxing and stress free. This beautiful product has allowed easy end of bathtime. Baby is relaxed because i am. We spend more time cuddling once he is out of the bath because the towel fully covers him and keeps him warm whilst the towel dries him and draws the water away from his skin.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I honestly can't think of anything that would improve the Cuddledry. It is a fantastic product and i highly recommend it.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This product was just ingenuous, lovely and fluffy towelling which increased absorbancy when washed. It was so soft for babies skin and a lovely neutral colour. The desing was so easy to use, basically the towel is an apron and enables you to encapsulate the baby at bath time.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It means I can bath baby and not get soaked when taking out of the bath as I can completely cradle the baby in the towel. It's really absorbant so I can dry baby quickly

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I don't think it could beimproved, maybe a different desing when older to build in sleeves for bigger wriggly babies!

Tested by mum Stephanie Price for the Mother & Baby Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this product, it's a great idea to have the apron style towel that fastens around the neck.  Very nice natural cotton material, that felt soft on my baby's skin.  Seemed very absorbent and quick drying.  Easy to use and prevents you from getting too wet when taking your baby out of the bath.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I wish I had had this product when my baby was newborn and you need to be more handsfree when taking them out of the bath.  Great idea to have the apron style, so it feels safer when picking them up without having to hold onto a towel also.  Soaks up the water much quicker than an ordinary towel.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The only thing I would change about this product is the price.  I think that £29.99 is a little pricey.  The product quality is of a very high standard, but I still don't think that I would pay this for a baby towel.  Maybe if the towel was a little bigger, so it would last a little longer, I would consider paying this.  My daughter is quite a long baby already at 14 months so already seems a little squashed up in it, if I have it tied around my neck.  Other than that, I think it's a fantastic product.

2015 – Shortlisted for Bathtime Product Award

The Cuddledry Baby Bath Towel is lovely and plush – so comfortable!  It’s fantastic quality and washes well without losing its softness. It’s a good size and can grow with baby. The double layer means that mum and dad stay dry too, and the apron straps (the hood too) keep baby snugly wrapped after bath. The towel is, however, expensive – especially when more than one towel is needed (for washing purposes). A cheaper price tag and perhaps a double towel pack would make for the perfect product!

2014 – Bathtime Product Award

The Baby Bath Towel by CuddleDry is soft, cosy and simple to use. The apron-style towel allows mums and dads to transfer precious bundles into and out of the bathroom easily and safely whilst keeping dry in the process – the extra cuddlesare also nice! The towel is comfortable, absorbent and generous in size.

Made from quality, organic materials it is as luxurious as it is convenient. The towel can be a bit fiddly when it comes to older babies and it is expensive but its innovative properties (its practicality and encouragement of the parent-child bond) make the price well worth it!
