Tested by a mum Jane Hobday for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I think this Swaddler is a very good product - it is really soft good quality cotton which helps baby not to sweat like with other blankets. It is really easy to use - I just followed the guidance in the instructions.  It’s supposed to mimic closer to how the baby was in the womb so provides comfort and I think it really does do this as I noticed my little boy slept better. I found that my baby kicked his sheets off but this is harder to wriggle out of and because the leg bit is separate, then even one night when he kicked off the bottom bit, he still had the warmth and security of having his arms swaddled.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I certainly found with my little boy that he slept better when I used this and I didn't have to worry about him pulling his covers over his face and all the dangers of that. This product gave me a better night sleep and the reassurance that my baby was safe. It’s also really easy to do night time nappy changes because of the detachable bottom part.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I like this product but I do think that it is fairly expensive - it would be good to bring the price down slightly to make this affordable to more people. Because until you've tried it you don't really know if it’s worth the money, so I think the ‘risk’ factor would put a lot off people off.

The material of this Swaddle blanket is very soft and stretchy so it easily fits my bigger baby. The Swaddle is easy to use and comes with illustrated directions showing you how to use it.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Using a Swaddle blankets stops the worry of loose sheets going over my baby's face as he sleeps.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I wouldn't change anything about the product.

This was the first swaddle I used for my baby. I found it really easy to use and my son is really comfortable in it. I love the 'healthy hip positioner' as is keeps my baby in the right position. My son sleeps soundly in this swaddle.

The leg pouch makes night time nappy changes really easy and stress-free, it saves my son the drama of a normal nappy change as he still feels secure and warm.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The only way to improve this product would be the addition of patterns or colours.

The Ergobaby swaddler is made from beautiful soft material and it can be packed compactly into its own bag within the fabric.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The swaddler is brilliant as when my little boy was swaddled inside it, you could still feed him and change his nappy without removing it  You also get 2 in the packet for the price which comes in useful when they are sick on it.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Possibly make it a little bit cheaper.

The fabric is soft and the swaddle is solid. Most swaddles are easily undone, which defeats the purpose. Baby feels really secure. The added feature of being able to change the nappy without unsaddling is a good one. Also, the possibility to uncover the legs shall the temperature be cosy is great too.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Helps baby feel safe and comfortable and therefore sleep soundly and for longer periods.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Maybe the looks, although the neutral tone also means no colour dye.

I've never used swaddlers before so I was very interested to try this out. The Ergobaby Swaddler is pretty good value for money as you get two in a pack. During testing this product it became apparent that my son wasn't keen on being swaddled! However I would still say that the product is very easy to use.   The velcro is strong enough to keep a firm fit around baby but easy enough for mum to peel back to adjust. The bottom section folds down for easy access when changing nappies which is great as it didn't disturb my sons sleep when he needed a change in the middle of the night. Lovely soft material means baby looks very comfortable and snug.

The Ergobaby Swadller makes life easier for us mums as we know that baby won't be flinching around so much in their sleep and won't be kicking sheets or blankets off as can so often happen. It frees mums time to get on with other things knowing baby will have a rested sleep.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I think my son would grow out of this fairly quickly as he was a decent size 8lb 9 and a half 0z when born and long so I think the product could do with being longer... or a longer version available for each size.

This is a very well thought out design, I like the fact that not only is it easy to use, but also it ensures that baby is in a safe position. The swaddle is very cosy and comfortable particularly on colder evenings. As my son is a hot bod I only really feel comfortable swaddling him in the day in the summer and this is quite thick for the summer months.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I like the ease at putting this Ergobaby swaddler on is excellent and the reassurance it is on right as opposed to swaddling yourself (I cannot swaddle correctly no matter what). Although it was too hot in our room at night I can see this would be easy to use in those early nights too.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would make it a little cooler for hot babies like my son. Unfortunately he overheats often so I have to monitor what he wears at night.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would not recommend the Ergobaby swaddler because I found it hard to use and it felt like I was putting my baby in a straitjacket. At 10lbs my baby seemed too big for the s/m size which is meant to be for 6-12 lbs. I couldn't get my baby's arms in alone - it took 2 of us to get him in, and he hated it. He was not calm by the time we had finished getting him in, and we took him straight out of it. It felt like I was trying to tie him up - I didn't like it.  As it is, the double pack is good so one can be washed, the material very soft and breathable cotton, and it is clearly good quality and well made. The design is good in theory - especially the shaped hip part.  The wraps are plain - it would be nice to have a pattern or subtle colour even.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This swaddle product did not make anything easier for me as a mum, it made things worse because trying to get my baby into the wrap was hard, and I just upset him by trying to put his arms into the wrap and he didn't like it.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

This Ergobaby swaddler wrap is natural in colour, and looks too much like a functional sleep device. It could do with being coloured or patterned to personalise it a bit, also, I am concerned that some parents may leave their babies for too long in this and if the babies cannot  move at all, I do not think this is good for them to be strapped in like this without any way of working their arms looser.

Tested by a mum Karen Rutherford for the M&B Awards 2016:

Brilliant quality as you would expect from Ergobaby. Gorgeous crisp white luxury material. Allows normal leg shape but still keeps arms snug. Washes well even on high temperature to clean vomit.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Love that my boy can be frog legged inside the swaddle but that his arms are kept nice and snug and therefore meaning no breakouts.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Nothing.
