This product also features in our best cot mattresses article.

Merifor is all about protection, and peace of mind, sealed in a scientifically advanced cot mattress. Serenity is a supportive pocket spring mattress that adapts to your little dreamer's changing weight and shape. The unique waterproof sealed inner core and heat regulating outer cover with anti-allergy properties, provide the best sleeping environment for your baby. This mattress also comes with a three-year guarantee to long-lasting protection and reassurance.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Elizabeth:  Yes definitely. The Merifor Serenity mattress is well designed, it looks good and my daughter sleeps well on it which is the most important thing! It is very hygienic with the ability to wash the outer layer. It is really useful that you can wash the outer cover whilst still using the inner mattress.

Denise: Thanks to the included protected cover you don’t have to worry about accidents staining the mattress. My son had a nasty stomach bug and the bed was very messy. It was easy to unzip the cover and put it into the wash. There were no marks on the mattress and the cover dried quickly so it could go back on that night. The mattress also felt like it was good quality and would last for a long time.

Fabienne: One of the main things I loved about this was how easily the cover came off the mattress and how easy it was to put back on. It also dried really fast which meant I didn't have to wait too long to but all the sheets back on. My son has also slept happily in the new mattress which is almost double the thickness of his old one.

How did this product make your life easier?

Katy: My baby had always been a good sleeper but quite recently he starting waking up during the night. Since changing to the Merifor Senerity Cot Mattress he has slept through the night every night. I am a full time working Mum and this has made my life easier getting a full nights sleep and having a happy and well rested baby each morning.

Roxanne: I absolutely love this mattress and so does my little one. You can feel the quality. The cover is so soft and has the added bonus that it is waterproof. It has a washable cover and a wipe-clean inner layer which will come in handy when my little boy is older. The mattress is great, comfortable and firm to feel. I loved the fact it arrived in a box, usually, mattresses come in plastic, but with this, you know that it hasn’t been damaged in transit. My son had such a good sleep and his naps are so much better.

Elizabeth: My baby daughter had a vomiting bug and it was then that I really saw what set this mattress apart from the rest. We were able to easily remove the outer cover to wash whilst still using the inner core for her to sleep in her cot, whilst the outer cover was drying. It meant minimal disruption. It was stressful enough with her being unwell and it was one less thing to worry about.

Would you choose this product to win?

Denise: I think it would depend on what you are looking for. There are much cheaper mattresses available which don’t have the added extras of a protective cover or anti-allergen. There are also much more expensive mattresses available if your budget can stretch. This is a good mid-range option if you don’t just want the basics but can’t justify £1000 on something that will only be in use for three years. I expect this mattress would also last if you wanted to use it again for a younger sibling.

Fabienne: As much as I love this product I would still hesitate about buying it because of the high price tag. Even though like any parent you want the best for your child, the price tag makes it not easily accessible on the market and will result in parents buying other lower cost mattresses. It is way out of my price range but I would buy one for my next child.

Katy: I would not have usually purchased a mattress of this price. Having already purchased a luxury mattress, I felt that this was very overpriced in comparison. Having said that, after testing and seeing the results of my baby sleeping through the night I would absolutely pay the £220 RRP for this item.

What changes would you make to this product?

Roxanne: I don’t think I would change anything about this mattress. If you could make it cheaper then that would be a bonus. At the same time, I would happily pay for this mattress when I have another child. However, had I not been given the opportunity to test this mattress, then the price tag would have put me off.

Elizabeth: This product is expensive and I am not sure it is quite worth this much. Previously I had a mattress that was £100 and whilst removing the outer cover is really helpful, I am not sure it is worth the extra money. Other than a price reduction there is nothing that I could change about the mattress.

Denise: After the hot weather this summer I would like something that controls the temperature. It is so difficult to regulate a baby’s temperature, especially in extreme weather. Perhaps if the protective cover was made from cotton rather than polyester it would be better at this. It would be good if it could whip away moisture and heat in the summer but then retain the heat in the winter.
