Charlie Banana 2 in 1 Swim Diaper & Training Pants at a glance:

Charlie Banana swim nappies are great swimming nappies and potty training pants in one. There is no need to use disposable swim nappies as reusable ones do the job perfectly for the pool or beach. Charlie Banana 2-in-1 Swim Diaper & Training pants have a waterproof, outer layer and a soft organic cotton interior lining, which is gentle against your baby's skin. These make ideal training pants when potty training a child because of the trim fit, easy removal and a fine absorbent layer to minimize little accidents!

How did this product make your life easier?

Libby: We have been using reusable nappies and have been keen to switch to reusable swimming nappies in order to save money, reduce wastage and be more environmentally friendly as a family. These nappies are so beautifully designed it makes it exciting for both my son and I. The nappy is an all in one nappy, which is easily washable and dries relatively quickly (within 36 hours). I have absolutely no reservations in using them in the future.

Karina: Really like how the product washes, doesn’t come out of the wash mid-shaped making using reusable nappies easier and more convenient. The drawstring allowed me to adjust the waist size, which means it can be adapted to babies individual size. It was quick and easy to take off after getting wet, whereas disposable ones can be difficult when wet to remove.

Harriet: This swim nappy is very easy to use. I really like the pull up style as opposed to Velcro or popper like other reusable swim nappies I have. It makes putting it on a wriggly baby very easy. Because of the drawstring it is also very easy to undo and take off while wet too. The nappy can also be used as training pants so it does have an absorbant part but I didn’t find this to be too bulky while in the water which is good.

Would you recommend this product to other parents?

Bonnie: I would definitely recommend these Charlie Banana 2 in 1 Swim Diaper & Training Pants to a mum friend. The pants keep in what was needed to be kept in and it's great that's it's reusable. Easily dried in the sun so can wear over and over and over again thoroughout the day if rinsed and left to dry in the sun.

Libby: I like the ethos behind the brand of Charlie Banana and the design of the swimming nappies they produce are incredibly varied and beautiful - there is almost certainly one to suit every child! These swimming nappies can also be used as training pants, making them very versatile and saving money from buying more products.

Karina: I really like the quality of this product and it’s pricing range is really good. Compared to other reusable nappies out there the price is extremely good and the durability is there. The designs are eye catching and it’s easy to want to collect lots of different styles. I do believe the sizing of the legs could do with some adjusting, in the two different sizes I received there wasn’t much difference in the legs but a big difference in the waist size. The smaller size fit round the waist but was tight around the legs.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Harriet: I have other reusable swim nappies and it think I would reach for this one over the others as I really like the pull up design. I just makes it so much easier to go on a wriggly baby or toddler. I also really like the versatility of this product, it’s really handy to be able to use it as training pants too. I think it’s very clever how there is enough absorption to be used as a training pants and catch any small accidents but not too much absorption to make it bulky and uncomfortable while swimming.

Bonnie: I have tried a few different swimsuits for my children over the years and I do really like this one. The inside is soft and the leg holes fitted my sons chunky legs well. I love the design on the Charlie Banana 2 in 1 Swim Diaper & Training Pants, we had the catus one sent to us to try in 2 sizes and they were both a good fit.

Libby: The Charlie Banana swim nappy is available in 4 different sizes which seem to fit far better around the legs than other one size reusable swim nappy brands I have seen. It also has the benefit of a drawstring waist band – an essential for slim children like mine. We have been unable to use the nappy as a swim nappy over the testing period due to swimming pools being shut, however have tried it in the paddling pool and as training pants, and absolutely love it.

What changes would you make to this product?

Karina: There are things which I think would benefit the product, one would be making the packaging that the product arrives in sustainable and biodegrade material rather than plastic. As the product is endorsing sustainability in a reusable product I found it a bit disappointing that the packaging wasn’t.

Harriet: The one thing I did notice about the product is the sizing advice seems to be generous. I had a large size and it fit both my 1 year old and my 3 year old. While this is great because it means it will get a lot of use it may be confusing to parents deciding what size to buy. The drawstring to tighten the waist works really well for us but it is important that swim nappies are tight not only around the top but the legs too – for children whose legs aren’t as chunky as mine this could be a problem. A way of adjusting the fitting around the legs could be useful.

Libby: As a swimming nappy there is nothing I would change about this product and I plan to buy it in a smaller size for my youngest. Whilst there may be limits to the amount of leaks it can contain as a training pant, the thin padding is a benefit for a swimming nappy as it makes it less bulky and restrictive. This may be something to consider if using for both swimming and as training pants, however this would not discourage me from buying it.
