At a glance:

Designed to keep babies and other swimmers safe in the pool, this reusable swim nappy is made from super-soft neoprene and is shaped into two back pieces, which cup the baby’s bottom. These are held securely in place by a gusset, whilst specialist waist and leg fabric grips comfortably, yet snugly, to your child’s body. Splash About have created this ergonomically form fitting nappy to be secure yet comfortable no matter how hard they play and kick in the water.

How did this product make your life easier?

Kirsteen: This product enables me to let my babies swim without worrying that they will mess themselves and the pool! This new design is easier to use than the previous one and doesn't mark my baby. The old versions were incredibly difficult to put on whereas this new design is easy and stress-free. My baby seems comfortable as well.

Bonnie: This product is great, we are required by our swimming lesson providers to wear this type of nappy. The range of designs and colours that are available are great and really colourful and child-friendly. The fit and my baby seems really comfortable in it. The cost is far for the quality of the product too.

Tracy: The Happy Nappy is recognised by all our local swim schools, which speaks for itself of how trusted this brand is, as well as giving you a peace of mind that the attire is appropriate and we will not be turned away. We absolutely love the designs available, it was a difficult decision but we chose the pirate dinosaur print and it is fabulous.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Elizabeth: I would recommend this product because it is reasonably priced, reusable and much more comfortable for baby. They come in many designs that look much nicer than disposable swim nappies, and are not needed to be covered up by other swimwear. They are small and easily transportable and you only need this one rather than a whole packet of disposables. The neoprene design i perfect, they keep baby warm but dry and they dry super quickly just with a towel and can be cleaned just by rinsing in water. They are extremely easy to reuse over and over. I found them a little tricky to get on but they need to be tight to prevent any leaks.

Amy: The designs that are available are great. The product is great quality and seems to be really comfy, in spite of being tight enough to prevent any leakage around the top or legs. It is an added bonus that reusable inners are available to make this into a double nappy system which is required by most swim schools, without the need for disposable nappies.

Hannah: I really love the Splash About swim nappy. This is the first time I have tried a neoprene nappy instead of the standard swim nappy and I have been so impressed. The combination of a nappy liner, nappy wrap, and neoprene happy nappy is very easy to use and worked very well. I really loved the fact that this system is reusable at a time when disposable nappies are so popular. It made me feel great that I am using something that will have a lesser impact on the environment in the long term. The blue and white whale design are really lovely and of very high quality. The nappy is of a close fit and forms a tight seal around the legs and waist and clearly works well to prevent spillages. Despite this, it seemed very comfortable for my little one to wear. It also has UPF 50+ sun protection inbuilt into it which has been an extra reassurance when we were on our summer holiday in France.

Would you choose this product to win?

Bonnie: Yes I one hundred percent would recommend this product over others similar on the market. I think the design and comfort of the swim nappy is fantastic and the durability of the swim nappy is great. You can also wring the swim nappy out after swimming so it doesn't hold the water like other swim nappies.

Kirsteen: I would definitely choose it above others. There are a variety of sizes and designs to choose from and they work well. I trust this brand and have used them always. I feel this new design irons out any of the old flaws and I love how comfortable they seem now. The main thing that stands out is the print. When I had my first child and was told they had to wear a happy nappy in the pool, I was expecting to put him in a standard nappy so I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety of prints on offer. It makes it a much more enjoyable experience.

Tracy: The Happy Nappy now comes with UPF50+ protection which is an added reassurance. The neoprene fabric is easy to clean, just rinse out and can be wrapped in a towel to dry quickly - tried this and it actually works! I like that it also comes with other matching products like the wrap wetsuit and swim hat that can be purchased.

What changes would you make to this product?

Hannah: It is difficult to find an improvement for this product however a suggestion would be to have an adjustable waist to allow the swim nappy to grow with the child and therefore to last for longer e.g. up until 3 years of age. As a parent, this would have many benefits as it would mean the swim nappy would last longer and therefore be more economical but also would have a positive impact on the amount of waste as it would reduce the number of swim nappies needed.

Amy: I wouldn’t change a single thing about this product. As described above, it is great quality and a really nice design. The nappy is easy to use and lasts really well. There are lots of different designs available which is nice so that you feel a bit more unique at swimming classes. It is also a fabulous value for money.

Elizabeth: I found this product to be brilliant and am aware that some swim schools enforce a code that babies must be wearing two layers but with this happy nappy I would be happy without because it provides me with the confidence that it has enough protection to prevent any leaks. The only thing we found a little tricky was getting the nappy on and his enough, perhaps a little fastening to undo to get them on easier but overall a fantastic product I will be recommending.
