At a glance:

This clever little gadget heats your baby’s towel when they are swimming to avoid any shivering round the pool. It stays warm for ages, but needs a large saucepan to reset it.

What they say:

“The Towel Cozy is a re-usable, portable, gel click heat pad that stays warm for up to two hours. The Towel Cozy was primarily developed to warm towels ready for when your child gets out of the swimming pool, but has multiple uses such as keeping you warm while watching outdoor sports, camping, heat therapy (Muscular / therapeutic pain relief), emergency warmth e.g. car breakdowns and is also a great alternative to a hot water bottle. The Towel Cozy is the convenient way to add a little warmth to your day.”

This product ensures your baby doesn't get cold when coming out of the water, and allows you to go swimming throughout the year without your baby getting cold. The product, once re-cooked, is very easy to use. It folds up quite small and you can fit it into your swimming bag really easily. The product is well made, and is very hygienic.

How did the product make your life easier?

This product makes my baby’s towel very warm. She is able to get out of the pool or paddling pool and a warm towel is always waiting for her. The Towel Cozy ensures that the towel is her ready instead of her getting cold whilst grabbing a towel from the radiator and it stays warm for ages.

This product is very good and has a lot of benefits, but unfortunately I'm not sure I would go out and buy one for myself. It is quite easy to set off in your bag and it is then very hard to re-cook it whilst you are out on the go. However, with a harder case I think this product would be better and easier to transport.

What changes would you make to the product?

The Towel Cozy needs to be easier to transport without going off. Once this is sorted, the product will be pretty much faultless. I believe this is a well thought out product, overall. The design means it folds up small, and the fact that it is quite large when unfolded means your entire towel is warm, not just a small section.

I really like the idea of taking this on a camping trip or potential cold outing and having it ready to warm the children up if needed, and love the idea of keeping it in the car in case we breakdown. It’s really easy to activate, however, I only have one giant saucepan that this will fit into in order to reset it. Once cold, it is quite hard to mould into a small shape. It’s also easily wiped clean, and seems tough and toddler proof, as my oldest drove toy cars over it without any hint of damage

This is very easy to use, and came in the box deactivated. With a quick click it was working, changing colour and getting hotter and harder. It is really warm and although I haven’t taken it swimming just yet, it is lovely for an achy back (staying hotter longer than my wheat bag) and I know it won’t leak like my old hot water bottle.

I’m unsure if this is the most essential product to take with you when swimming, as places are always boiling anyway, and we often take bags and bags of stuff with us when we go. It would, I think, only make my bag even heavier. That said, it does stay warm for a lovely length of time, and I imagine this would easily last the length of a swimming trip. The shape is good, and the big, flat square and would be right size to warm a towel for a baby.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would make it easier to reset. I’m not sure, realistically, how many mums (however super they are) will be want to boil something to reuse it time and time again. I’m sure I’ve seen ones on the market that just re-click, but are more expensive. However, I love the colour, and shape and quality. It’s a well packaged product and easy to use.

I would highly recommend this product to everyone! It’s small, compact, easy to use and reuse, and is very versatile. You can use it for swimming, when out and about or even just car journeys. My husband has also used it, as he often gets a sore shoulder from time to time due to a long standing sports injury and this Cozy Towel really helps him with the pain.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Towel Coy is brilliant. We take our four-month-old daughter swimming every week. Before, she used to get upset due to getting cold with just a towel wrapped round her. We used to dread getting out, however, since using the Towel Cozy, we haven’t had any tears! We keep the towel wrapped around the Towel Cozy whilst we are in the pool, and when we get out; the towel is so lovely and warm. It makes swimming a much more pleasurable trip out. I can imagine that we will also use this Towel Cozy a lot more in winter.

I don't know of any other product on the market at this price that can do what the Towel Cozy does and for that reason, I really do think that this should win an award. It is such a useful piece of equipment and I wish that I had had one sooner. I love how versatile it is and that it keeps my daughters towels so warm for when she gets out the swimming pool, and that it then keeps things warm for up to two hours afterwards.

What changes would you make to this product?

It’s really hard to choose something that I would change with regards to this product. If I was to be really picky then it is quite heavy. However, this hasn’t caused me any problems, and I understand that it has to have a bit of weight because of what is in it in order to make it warm and keep it warm. I cannot think of anything else that I would actually change.

I think that the storage bag provided is really handy, and it can be molded into any shape once it’s liquefied, meaning it doesn't take up as much room as it initially appears! It is easy to use but its biggest drawback is the size. I would challenge that a number of households do not have a saucepan big enough to fit the cozy in to ‘reset’, especially if it has hardened in an awkward shape. It is also incredibly heavy, so with the amount of other things that need to be taken swimming, it is one I would likely leave at home, as good as it is!

How did this product make your life easier?

I can see how the Towel Cozy would be great for older children. Having just a five-month-old it was quite a lot of faff for not much gain, as speed is of the essence anyway when taking a little baby swimming. However, thinking back to my childhood and standing around waiting for my turn at competitions or galas, I can see how it would be very beneficial for an older child.

I think the idea of this product is better than the reality. When I read about it (especially where the idea had originally come from) I was brought in and thought it would be brilliant, however, due to its weight and bulkiness, I’m not too sure it would be something I would likely buy for swimming. I would more likely purchase it for sitting on the football pitch sidelines for myself to use!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change its size. If it could somehow be narrower and longer then I think it could fit into a regular sized saucepan and would be easier to use. However, that wouldn’t have as much heating benefit as the current shape and size, so it’s a bit of a catch-22. I also think the weight is off putting, and may need to be addressed.

Tested by mum Linzi Darby for the Mother & Baby Awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would most certainly recommend this to anyone – a mum, or even someone without any children, it’d be suitable for everyone. It’s perfect for anyone to take swimming or to the gym. It would also come in handy as a seat warmer in the winter months for those who don't have the luxury in their vehicle. One of the nice things about it is how neat it is to store away in a drawer until you need it again.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Towel Cozy has made swimming a much nicer experience for a chilly toddler! Upon exiting the swimming pool I am able to wrap my little girl up all warm while I quickly dry and change myself. It means gone are the days a fully dried and dressed toddler runs around getting wet again while I dry myself, and I have no worries about her getting cold!

Would you choose this product to win?

I would select this product over others because it is the only one on the market that I know of. I think it’s a great idea and the absolute best part is its reusability. I've had hand warmers and similar things in the past, but they were all single use, and had to be microwaved to warm them up. You can take the Towel Cozy with you and activate when needed.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really am struggling to find anything negative with this product. I suppose the only slight issue I had was that my biggest saucepan in the cupboard wasn't quite big enough to fit the Towel Cozy, so I had to dig out my seldom-used stew cauldron. And twenty minutes on the stove isn't the most economical amount of time, but given the size of the product, it’s unavoidable.
