At a glance:

The Toot-Toot Drivers Fire Station Deluxe improves your little one's language development, sensory development, motor skills and imaginative play. It includes lots of manipulative features including a flip-up vehicle launcher, extending ladder, rolling fire hydrant, turning fire hose and much more. The play set includes nine track pieces, a big fire truck and a small SmartPoint fire engine vehicle that plays three sing-along songs and six fun melodies.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Julie: I would recommend this product because there are so many learning aspects to it. The colours are so bright and the twirly pole is great fun. The product is good from age one and even my six-year-old niece loves playing with it. It’s also good that the track pieces are big and easy to put together so they also learn how to use puzzles.

Evelina: I would recommend this product from around 18 months. I know that every baby is different but my daughter can’t play with it by herself. Other than that, it’s really fun and well made for little ones to play. I would recommend this for family’s who have space at home because you can’t fold it and put away. It was easy to put it up and also really fun for my daughter.

Nafeesa: Yes. I would definitely recommend this product to another parent. It is a good, quick and easy to assemble toy which holds a child's interest. There are many features which are fun to explore and it is a good toy to play with an older sibling. The item is robust, easy to clean and easy to take apart for storage and transport.

How did this product make your life easier?

Francesca: My son was immediately intrigued by this toy. The bright colours made it very appealing and my husband was able to put it together easily using the picture on the box. It plays various sounds which are great fun and all the mean my son will happily play for 15 minutes (which is a long time for a one-year-old). He learns something new every time he plays. It is very sturdy and there are no small parts to worry about. The one downside is that once it is put together, you can't fold it up or put it away.

Naomi: My son plays with the fire engine happily. If there were more play toys such as an ambulance and police cars included it would be an amazing product. My son just puts the car on the track and plays away. It is an amazing toy as his first play Mobil. I know he can't put any of the tracks in his mouth as they are too big. That gives me peace of mind as a mum. I would definitely recommend this product.

Sarah: The Toot Toot Drivers Fire Station is an excellent toy. My daughter loves playing with it. It was her first Toot Toot toy but I am sure not her last! I really like the fact it can connect to other sets. We like the fact it plays different tunes on different parts of the set. It is very robust and has taken a lot of pulling about.

Would you choose this product to win?

Sarah: Although this is a great product to play with, I'm afraid I would choose another product over this one. As this only comes with one vehicle it can get boring after a while. As my child gets older I think he will find it a bit boring. Adding another two vehicles would make so much difference and would mean they have a choice of what to use.

Anna: The instructions were not that helpful. One step was repeated twice but showed two different photos. It wasn’t too difficult to assemble, compared to others toys we have, so it didn’t matter too much. I am unsure if it should win as I don't know the other toys in the category but it has not bowled us over.

Anna: I think this is a really strong product. It has a nice difficulty curve and longevity. My son is still using it as much as when I got it three months ago. I really like that it is compatible with other Toot Toot toys. We have a motorbike and an aeroplane that both work well with it and they were inexpensive pocket money treats. I understand that the set can combine with others to create a big world. While I haven’t done this yet, it is certainly an option for birthdays or Christmas.

What changes would you make to this product?

Julie: The flaps on the yellow slope we had to take out as my son was disappointed he couldn’t drive the fire engine up the slope due to the flaps stopping him. We also found the fire that pops out of the building didn’t clip on properly and kept falling out. We also found at the top of the yellow slope the other Toot Toot engines you can buy are wider than the fire engine and they kept getting stuck because the track wasn’t wide enough.

Alex: I didn't like that the stickers were included to apply as part of the setting up. It took me around ten minutes without instructions to put all of the pieces together. I then spent another 20-30 minutes putting all of the stickers on. I felt that it was a lazy move by the manufacturer when they could have applied them in the factory. The only benefit would be if you were putting the toy together with a slightly older child that wanted to help. Even then you would probably end up with stickers all over the place.

Nafeesa: I would have liked a storage bag for this item. It would have been nice to have opened the toy and it was already pre-stickered! It was fun adding the stickers but it was time-consuming and hard to do when you have a toddler wanting to get in on the action and play with it straight away.
