At a glance:

The UPPAbaby Cruz looks beautiful – we love the fabrics used and the high finish, the sturdy frame with an extendable hood and the brilliantly large shopping basket. That said, our panel of mum testers were disappointed with the clip mechanism to keep the pushchair together when folded and those with smaller babies wished the seat could fully lie-back.

What they said:

“Parenting is full of adjustments like learning to function on little sleep and never leaving the house again without an arsenal of supplies. Fortunately for parents there’s been no compromising with the CRUZ. Its streamlined design gives you more without weighing you down. So stroll down bumpy city streets, maneuver around crowded malls, load your basket with your diaper bag, toys, groceries and whatever else you need. Relax, the world is still your oyster.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to friends and fellow mums! The instructions were extremely easy to follow and within seconds it was out of the box and I was down the street taking a walk with my little boy. It had an easy to use tilt in space mechanism for reclining the seat and an adjustable support for the legs, which improve the comfort for the child, especially when sleeping. I loved the five-point harness, which clipped together easily and thought the UPPAbaby Cruz was lovely to use, with a good quality frame and nice design. I was really proud to be seen pushing this!

How has this product made your life easier?

The UPPAbaby CRUZ has a number of really great features that made my life easier. I loved the view pocket on the hood, which was secured with a magnet, making it silent to open when sneaking a peek at my sleeping baby. The basket was much larger than any other pushchair I have ever used, and was extremely accessible, making my life easier when having to get jobs done. The five-point harness clip was easy to open and secure, which also made it easy when trying to get a wriggling child in and out. It also had a lovely mechanism to extend or fold away the leg support. Well done UPPAbaby!

Would you choose this product to win?

This product really stands out compared to others available on the market – initially due to the quality of the materials and the beautiful design, but once using the product there are many great features which make life easier. It is extremely easy to assemble, has a great folding mechanism and folds reasonably flat, it has a really useful extending leg support, and a large, accessible basket.

What changes would you make to this product?

The hood was lovely and wide, but I would make it a bit longer so that it could keep my child’s legs in the shade. Another improvement could be to adjust the folding mechanism so that it is single handed, as this is a key feature that lots of mums look for as it makes life so much easier when trying to handle a child and buggy at the same time.

Tested by mum Hannah Diskin for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I really liked the design of this pushchair – it looks expensive and is stylish with the leather bar and brushed metal frame. The designers seemed to have thought about what parents want from a pushchair and incorporated a good range of practical features into the design. My daughter appeared very comfortable in the seat in both the upright and reclined positions. The seat is also slightly higher than our usual pushchair and she seemed to like this. The handlebar is easy to adjust and it is at a nice position for pushing. The pushchair is easy to fold with one hand, but I found it to be quite bulky and heavy once folded compared to my usual pushchair. It took up a bit too much room in my boot but I like that it folds down in one piece, without having to separate the frame from the chair.

How has this product made your life easier?

I loved the extra-large storage basket, which can hold even the largest of changing bags as well as some shopping! It is open and easy to access even when the seat is tipped back. The pushchair is really easy to manoeuvre and lightweight to push round tight corners and its slim frame means it will usually fit through most doorways. Having a higher seat meant I wasn’t bending down as far to strap my child in and the fastening mechanism is very simple to fasten even with a toddler having a tantrum! The footrest can be straight out or folded, depending on the size of the child and the seat can be forward or rear facing so lots of options to make most children (and therefore parents) happy! As expected, and in keeping with the rest of the design, it is easy and quick to change the seat and footrest position.

Would you choose this product to win?

I like the overall design and the upright and higher position of the seat. There are different levels for reclining the seat and when reclined fully, the whole seat tips back (not just the back rest which is common with most pushchairs) – this is easy to do and has a smooth mechanism leaving the child able to have a nap on the go, in a more curled up position which some children may like but others may not. Once they’re asleep the hood has an extension bit on it to pull down which blocks out UV rays (useful when it’s sunny), but it could be a bit bigger to help block out more light and create more shade for the child.  I like the peek through window in the hood and the magnet that holds this together is a clever design and much quieter than Velcro.

What changes would you make to this product?

To make this pushchair even better I would make it slimmer when in a folded position to give me more boot space, and a stronger clipping mechanism to keep the pushchair together when folded down. A stronger and more robust clip would make it less awkward to lift the pushchair in and out of the car.

Tested by mum Laura Webster for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I think that would depend on what they wanted from a pushchair – if I was talking to a fellow mum who lived in an urban area and wanted a lightweight pushchair, this might be a good option. It is lightweight, easy to push and it turns well. That said, the wheels are small and firm and as a result the suspension is not great, so if I was talking to a mum who wasn’t living in the city, I’d have to let them know I struggled to push the pushchair over ground that wasn't tarmacked or firm.

How has this product made your life easier?

This pushchair is really easy to initially assemble – it looks great and feels like a high-quality product. It is simple and very easy to fold up and down and it is surprisingly lightweight which is a real bonus for lifting the pushchair in and out of the car. When it’s raining, the waterproof cover fits well and is easy to put on. My 18-month-old baby is quite tall and his head touched the top of the cover, so I'm not sure how much longer I'd be able to use it for.  Although sitting up he seemed really comfy in it, he didn't like lying down as the seat doesn't lie horizontal as the angle in the seat is fixed, so his legs pointed upwards.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think this could be a contender for a lightweight option, but I think there are other more versatile pushchairs out there which perform better overall. Although the pushchair generally feels high quality, the catch holding it together when folded down broke off after only a couple of uses, and the buckles feel quite flimsy and cheap.

What changes would you make to this product?

For me the wheels give the pushchair the feel of a lightweight stroller and for an £800 pushchair I found that a little disappointing. It wasn't easy to bounce up curbs or walk on grass, gravel or uneven ground, so it wasn't the pushchair for me. The buckles feel flimsy and the catch holding the pushchair together when folded broke very quickly, so I wonder if the design could be tweaked to improve these aspects.

Tested by mum Anna Taylor for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The UPPAbaby Cruz looks stylish and is sturdy without being too heavy. I would recommend it to fellow mums as it is extremely easy to fold and put in your car boot. It is very easy to steer and is a smooth ride for baby. The material is easy to clean and looks very comfortable for baby. Finally, I thought that the sun visor is a fantastic feature – every buggy should have one!

How has this product made your life easier?

The UPPAbaby Cruz is extremely intuitive and easy to use. It folds very easily and it is very easy to steer, even with one hand. The shopping basket provides ample storage space, which definitely makes life easier when out and about with your little one, or when popping to the supermarket. Also, I thought the sun visor attached to the hood is a particularly useful addition, as it means that you don't have to carry around an extra parasol.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think that this buggy is one of the best that I have used, so I would definitely vote for it to win a Mother & Baby award. I like the unisex styling and thought it was higher quality than others on the market. If I had a large budget, I would choose it over other similar priced systems, such as the Bugaboo. The steering and suspension is particularly smooth compared to other buggies and it is more of a classic design.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing, I would make the main seat attachment suitable to use from a younger age and able to recline back in to a proper lie-flat seat. Carrycots aren't suitable for all babies, as they tend to outgrow them quickly and like to look around. Therefore, many babies prefer to be in a lie flat seat before the age of six months.

Tested by mum Lowri Mawer for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the UPPAbaby Cruz as I thought it was really easy to use and manoeuvre. It seemed to be a very smooth ride, making the experience super comfortable for baby. I thought the extra sunshade is a great feature and that the viewing panel worked well. The rain cover had good coverage, keeping my baby and everything in the basket dry. The leather-like handle was very comfortable to hold when pushing the pushchair, and the undercarriage storage was one of the best features – it was so useful and large and could hold a whole basket shop!

How has this product made your life easier?

The UPPAbaby Cruz made my life easier as it was really easy to use and manoeuvre, whilst giving me peace of mind that my baby was comfortable. I loved the extra-large sunshade, which was great if the weather changed and I hadn’t put sun cream on, and the viewing panel allowed me to check on my baby on the move. As mentioned above, the large storage basket also made my life easier, as it was very large and easy to access.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I would choose for this to win a Mother & Baby award as I loved the high-quality features. The pushchair looked beautiful, the handle was lovely and the shopping basket is invaluable and so versatile. The additional tucked away sun shade means you don't have to buy an additional parasol. That said, whilst the seat is comfortable, it doesn't allow a full horizontal recline which is a draw back. Also, I don't think it would last until my baby was a toddler stroller, as he is currently a small 16-month-old and was reaching the top of the seat height wise.

What changes would you make to this product?

The clip that holds the pram together when folded broke, so was not as durable as I first thought. I also wished the seat could fully recline, which is best for looking after your baby’s back when they are sleeping. I would also make the hood bigger, as I don’t think it would fit my 16-month-old for much longer and add all terrain wheels to make the ride smoother.

Tested by mum Samantha Holliday for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I LOVE it!! The toddler seat reclines really easily & the hood can adjust as they grow. The system came with a rain cover & bug shield for both the bassinet & seat. They both have UV protection linings too. The quality is fantastic & the bumper bar gives me that extra reassurance for if my daughter wriggled out of the straps.

How did this product make your life easier?

The basket is a fantastic size & contains little pockets that can hold a bottle, purse, keys, mobile etc. The pram folds down in 1 movement & the seat can be left on so no faffing about removing parts in horrible weather. It folds really flat so doesn't take up much room in the car & the wheels also click off if you ever needed them to. The accessories you can buy are great too - a snack tray for your child & an accessory pouch for you. The bassinet is approved for overnight sleeping too.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love the height of the chassis, which means my daughter is sat further off the ground & closer to me. The seat looks quite small but my 18-month-old can fit in quite comfortably. The foot step folds away for when they get taller which provides more freedom. The bassinet is so luxurious & cosy I'd be more than happy to use this for my newborn.

What changes would you make to this product?

The tyres. I live in a rural area so there are a lot of farm tracks & uneven surfaces to deal with when we go out on walks. The tires aren't inflatable so don't absorb many of the lumps & bumps along the way. I think an inflatable tyre or even the option to change them for an inflatable would be a really good option.

Tested by mum Abigail Doran for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This pram came with EVERYTHING and more. As well as being really easy to use and fitting with our lifestyle, it also came with everything to tackle all elements...including a bug net! The rain cover fits over perfect and no pulling and clipping and the sun canopy - ALL of these have UV lining. The quality of this pram is really lovely and the bumper bar across the front is a fun added extra for baby and a good safety feature for mammy :)

How did this product make your life easier?

This pram folds down in one easy movement which I cannot stress enough, is a huge bonus when you have the weather, shopping, small child, keys a handbag and just the hassle of small parking spaces. Not having to take it apart was amazingly handy. It takes up no room in the car too. The basket is a brilliant size and has separating pouches for everything so you arent rooting around looking for things all the time. Organised. I like it.

Would you choose this product to win?

The UPPAbaby Cruz is a brilliant size and looks very comfy and cosy from newborn to toddler. The basket is a huge hit because of the size. The height means baby is closer to me than the ground. To the naked eye, the pram looks quite small which may put you off, but a toddler fits in very nicely.

What changes would you make to this product?

The tires. If the tires were air rather than hard then the ride would be much more enjoyable for both mother and baby. As we live in the countryside and there is nothing but uneven surfaces anywhere we go, this would be a huge benefit to anyone who is out and about as oppose to just city shopping.

Tested by mum Nicola Whitehead for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this pram as it has lots of features that are practical for a mum. It collapses and unfolds easily, it is fairly lightweight compared to others I've used and the brake is easy to use. It's got a raincover & net which really comes in handy when going for family walks with our dog. From the moment you take the pram out of the box you are ready to go. There's not too much fixing together to do which I found really helpful.

How did this product make your life easier?

This pram makes life easier for me as it is very user friendly. And I like that I can switch baby from rear facing to forward facing very easily as depending on how my little one is - I do like switch her around. I also think the basket on this pram is the best I've seen. It's large and deep so you can fit your baby baby underneath and the pockets in the back of the basket are a nice touch for bottles and snacks so they are easily accessible. It also steers really well compared to others.

Would you choose this product to win?

The way it easily collapses is amazing. Other prams seen to over complicate the closing process with buttons and pushing one part while pulling elsewhere, whereas this pram's simple mechanism make the process of collapsing quick and easy. However, I think the raincover is not as thick as others.

What changes would you make to this product?

One thing I would change about this product is its straps. They seems to loosen really easily and it's is quite worrying as it can affect the safety of your child especially if they were facing away from you. The loops to tighten seem really easy to use which I thought was great at first but I have noticed is loosens just as easily.

Tested by mum Jo Simpson for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I really love the UPPAbaby Cruz as it is so parent and baby friendly. The fluid motion of unfolding and quick simple folding mechanism really makes this pushchair stand out from the others. The seat is a good size and little one was very comfortable in it both lying down and sitting up. The hood has a built in extension part which makes it a full 90 degree hood which offers is 50+ spf protection. I really love the fact that it comes with an insect net as well as a rain cover.

How did this product make your life easier?

The foldability and how small this pushchair goes is amazing and also the fact that you can unfold it one handed makes thinks a lot easier. The basket under this pushchair is amazingly big and I easily fitted my changing bag and shopping in there, so no need to have bags hanging from the back which made a refreshing change.

Would you choose this product to win?

The UPPAbaby Cruz really does stand out from the rest for it's easy to use, storage bag along with the spf protection hood. The swift easy folding and unfolding and surprising compact for storage are other big positives for this pushchair. Little one was very comfortable in this pushchair and didn't get hot in the seat.

What changes would you make to this product?

I can honestly say that I can't find anything to suggest change to improve this pushchair. The only thing that I can really come up with is to change the cover on the bar across the pushchair to make it removable for easier cleaning as my little one has a habit of trying to chew and suck these bars.

Tested by mum Charlotte Mulvihill for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The UPPAbaby Cruz opens and collapses easily, appears easy to clean and has a lovely neutral design. The basket is lovely and big, I could fit my nappy bag in with lots of room to spare. The foot rest adjusts which will be helpful to use as a baby grows. It was easy to control and has a nice big hood. It's simple to adjust everything, the handle, footrest, the direction the child faces and laying the seat down.

How did this product make your life easier?

I liked that it could face either way and was easy to change even with my baby still strapped in. It was simple to adjust the angle that she was at so that when she fell asleep I was able to lay her flat easily. The adjustable footrest was good and I loved the big basket, I didn't have to overload the handles, my whole nappy bag fit in with ample room to spare.

Would you choose this product to win?

I really like this pram. It has a lot of plus points, but my favourite thing is how big the basket is, it's huge with high sides without being low to the ground. This meant my handles were free and the balance of pram was perfect. It looks great too which always helps.

What changes would you make to this product?

I liked that the pram collapsed in one piece. Unfortunately it leaves it rather large. It still fit in my car boot, but I do have a big car. It would be nice if it collapsed in one smaller piece because I found it was actually better to take it apart for storing and travelling, although I understand that any pram that collapses in one piece would probably be this big.

Tested by mum Louise Carroll for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I love the classy, urban look of this pushchair either with carrycot or seat. Instructions were clear, a breeze to put together and came with added extras such as the car seat adapters. Putting up and folding is a dream with durable release catches (the catch on the hood handle of the carrycot is genius). It has a fabulously large sturdy basket and a flip flop wearer’s dream of a brake. The handle extends considerably, great for tall parents and it manoeuvres easily and smoothly. The hoods give good protection from sun and rain and the ventilation has also been well considered. Carrycot is plush and deep and can comfortably be used as a standalone. The seat is fantastic with five positions, comfy padded shoulder protectors and an easy release 5 point harness.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

My life has been made easier due to the ease of shopping with this pushchair. It’s narrow enough to be compared to the practicality of a stroller, still lightweight but remains comfortable for little ones without making any sacrifice to looks or design. With the delights of the British weather all possibilities are catered for - no fiddly bits or a degree to work out the rain cover! The ease of collapse of the pushchair with a three year old in tow is also a delight. I would definitely consider this the top pushchair and would recommend it to any parent.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The only thing I would change with the Cruz pushchair would be the release catch that holds it closed when collapsed. This is a little flimsy and I don’t believe will stand the test of time. A little of the price tag would also help especially if buying the carrycot as well. I love it that much though if I had another child I would definitely be purchasing.

Tested by mum Nicola Hoskins for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Of all the pushchairs I have tested this is by far my favourite. It looks modern and I love the red Denny version we tested perfect for boys or girls. There is oodles of storage with a huge basket underneath and the whole frame feels sturdy and light. The handle height extends to an excellent range and it is very easy to apply the brake. The seat is nice and deep and sits very upright perfect for nosey older kids; it is also so easy to adjust the position of the seat with a simple touch of a button on the rear of the seat.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This pushchair folds like a dream and although I only have a standard sized boot it fits easily leaving space for other things, exactly what I would want out of a pushchair that I could use every day, covering most terrains. I also like that you can fold it and stand it up on its end meaning at things like mums and tots groups where space is at a premium it can be stored out of the way or upright in a cupboard at home. Good value for the money and I would definitely give this a silver award!

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

There are two minor things I would change with the pushchair. The brake although easy to apply, it did not feel as sturdy and as some others tested and I could still move the pushchair with some force. The rain cover has Velcro wraparounds to attach it to the legs of the pushchair which are flimsy and not well stitched in; I feel that with prolonged use this would not last long in the good old British weather!

Tested by mum Lizzy Foulger for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The Cruz looks fabulous in the design stakes for me. It’s modern, classy and lightweight. The hood is awesome, sturdy, deep and offers good sun protection whatever position my son is in I also rate the parent peephole as a good design. It steers effortlessly and is very responsive to touch, the handle extends to a good range and as a tall parent this is a must for me. The basket is an excellent size with handy pockets for the extras, rain cover, car seat adapters and insect net which are all included. It is super easy to collapse and store and folds to a decent size. The wheels are of a hard wearing quality material and I think it copes well with all types of ground.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

My son is nearly 5 months old so has tested both the seat and the carrycot sent. The carrycot is of equal fabulous design and looks really comfy for newborns. It’s deep and plush with excellent quality mattress. I love the fact that with the purchase of a stand it can be used a bassinet meaning you do not have the added purchase of a Moses basket or similar. This pushchair for me just made everything easy, shopping, walking, sleeping all thumbs up.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

There are only a couple of minor points that I would improve on this pushchair. The child’s guard rail is a bit floppy when one side is removed and I think this could be a little dangerous. When collapsed the release catch is a little flimsy and I think with constant bending back to release the chair it could possibly snap. I also found it a little harder to put up than I would have liked, but all minor points for a good value high quality pushchair.

Tested by mum Lisa James-Platt for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Forward and rearward facing good size seating, one hand recline option. Light weight seat. Adjustable handle bar, easy to move one handed, great UV protection hood with a big window to see your child through. Lovely colour and material. Compact pushchair which is easy to fold. Foot rest material is fixed on the bars meaning that the little ones feet are secure no feet poking out of the sides. Bumper bar which is easy to open and close.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Large basket to keep all the necessities in so you don't need to hang anything on the bars.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Move the bar which holds the basket up so the older child does not hit his legs on the bar allowing them to rest their feet on the lower foot bar.  Also if you put the footrest backwards the child’s feet will go into the basket.

Tested by mum Catherine Griffiths for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The Uppababy Cruz screamed quality as soon as I took it out of the box. Simple to set up with great photo instructions. Carrycot was lovely, very deep and soft fabric great for using as a standalone so saving a new parent some money on a travel cot. The pushchair itself was easy to fold, lightweight and had a great standing feature meaning it saves space and you don't get it dirty laying it on the floor. It reclined so easily and the extending handle was excellent as I am quite tall. You can fit anything and everything into the really large sturdy shopping basket. The seat sits quite high too meaning your child is closer to your eyeline when in parent facing mode.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The Cruz was a pleasure to use in every day to day situation. Walking was a pleasure and my little boy loved the carrycot, shopping was a breeze and I managed to fit loads into the shopping basket. The width of the pushchair is really narrow meaning I didn't have trouble with any tiny shopping aisles and its turning circle was brilliant even with one handed pushing. I really cannot recommend this enough, I thought it looked beautiful and the Denny Red and Black is a great colour combo for either sex.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The Cruz is not the cheapest pushchair on the market and although I would happily pay the price for the quality it gives you, I would be happier if the carrycot was a little less pricey as together from birth the package would cost almost £600. Other than that I absolutely love this pushchair.

Tested by mum Wendy James for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Easy to handle and the turning circle is very good. Easy to go up and down kerbs and lift in and out of the car due to its lightweight great viewing window. Lovely bright red colour which is very stylish with the grey and silver.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Large basket for your shopping. Nice high handle which is adjustable. Nice large break in the middle of the push chair wipe-able bumper bar.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The basket could be set a little further back out of the way of feet.

Tested by mum Lucy Lower for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

The Uppababy Cruz is a very stylish, simple, clean looking pushchair. It was so easy to put together and I loved how my daughter looked when sat in it. The quality of the material used is excellent and it was lovely to be able to have her facing me or facing the world. The Cruz collapses easily and is very light to carry considering it is a full pushchair and not a stroller. The different positions of the footrest meant that it was comfortable for my little one to go to sleep and it reclines to a number of positions. The hood was very practical, I like that you can roll back the cover for the parent peephole and are able to see them even when forward facing and the sun visor in the hood gave me the confidence that she was protected from harmful rays.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

My favourite thing about the Cruz was definitely how it looked, I would be very happy to use this either for my daughter or son, I think the fact you can adjust the height of the hood is very clever for when a child gets older. The pushchair reacted well wherever I took it and as my husband is very tall the handle proved to be more than adequate. The shopping basket is huge and made daytrips out very easy as with two children I could fit lots into it.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The harness clip proved a little bit of a problem for me, I found it a little fiddly and time consuming to do up, I also felt that the seat would have benefitted from having an insert just to make it super comfy for little ones. The rain cover needs to be revisited too, the velcro straps I feel will not last long.

Tested by mum Katy James for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Easy to fold down, lightweight to fit in and out of cars also still feels light with a toddler in the pushchair. Extendable handle which can be done one handed. Window in the hood which is held down with a magnet and it can also be held open by using the toggle. Lovely padded shoulder straps.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Toddler loves the colour, nice deep seat that is comfortable so toddler will sit in it for a long time. Easy to tilt the seat one handed. Large basket to fit everything underneath. Easy brake to use.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I think is it’s perfect.

Very lightweight pushchair, great carry cot, love the colour of is as I personally don't like to put a baby in a black one. Easy to click on the carry cot and easy to change the way in which the seat is facing. Very easy to push around and lift in and out of the car. Easy to use break.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

The sun shade is great for those very sunny days when the baby needs the extra protection and also to block the light out when trying to sleep. Large basket, so no need to hang things off the handles.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

This pushchair ticks all the boxes.
