As featured in our list of the best travel systems!

At a glance:

A beautiful, high-quality travel system that makes life easier when out and about with your baby. It’s easy to handle on multiple terrains, is suitable from birth and with a number of different car seats, and is a great option for taller parents thanks to the adjustable handlebars. It can also be folded completely flat, making it a good option for smaller car boots.

What they said:

“Do you feel that good looks are just as important as intelligent functionality and quality? If your answer is yes, Pepper is the perfect pushchair for you and your baby. It has extremely clean-cut lines, a stylish appearance and all the functions that are so important to you as parents. The standard of comfort for the infant, whether lying or sitting, is unique. The angle of the seat unit is adjustable – from sitting to resting, to lying. A further adjustment and the lying position can be completely horizontal. Thanks to memory-foam technology, the seat will conform perfectly to your baby's shape. Additional comfort is assured through a multi-stage suspension system, which allows for individual adjustment to suit the terrain. When developing the Pepper pushchair, we asked over 3,500 parents to explain what they feel are the most important things for their baby and how a pushchair can make everyday family life easier. Their feedback and stories were crucial in shaping the resulting design and innovative functional elements of the pushchair.”

Tested by mum Anna Gorrod for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums as it has everything that you could need and want in a travel system. This pushchair is easy to assemble and I was pleasantly surprised to discover it’s just as easy to fold down and put in the boot of your car! It doesn’t take up much room thanks to the quick release wheels, which is a feature I hadn’t seen before on a pushchair. Also, it is suitable from birth which is perfect as you don’t have to spend more money getting another pushchair when your baby is six-months-old. The seat unit has a number of different recline settings, making it suitable for all ages. One highlight of this pram for me was that I could have my little one parent or forward facing, which was good for keeping my baby entertained whilst I was out and about, but reassuring as if my baby was unsettled, I could easily turn the seat around to make it parent facing providing more comfort.

How has this product made your life easier?

This product makes my life so much easier as a mum as I no longer have to worry about boot space whilst travelling, as the pram is compact. If I am really tight on space, I don’t even have to bring the seating unit with me, as the car seat slots on to the pushchair. The pushchair itself is really light compared to previous prams that I have owned. Finally, the Pepper travel system made my life easier as a mum whilst out shopping – thanks to the large shopping basket I was able to carry my changing bag and shopping bags under the pram.

Would you choose this product to win?

This is the only pram I know of which is memory foam and I want my little one to be as comfortable as possible, so this is definitely a winning feature in my eyes. This pushchair has a lot of comfort features for both baby and parents – thanks to the adjustable handle, any member of my family can push the pram without getting a sore back. I love that this pram can easily convert into a travel system with several different branded car seats, which is a huge benefit as it means I don’t have to wake my sleeping baby when moving from the car seat to the pram. In my eyes, this a great all-around travel system, which is great value for money.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about this pushchair is to make it available in other colours.  It’s a great pushchair and I cannot fault the features, but I would love to see it in other colours such as pink.

Tested by mum Lauren Bowgen for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this pushchair to a fellow mum, purely because of how safe it feels. It has a five-point safety harness which keeps my little one secure in the memory foam seat. The seat itself is good quality; prior to this pushchair, my baby would hate being in his pram even for short spaces of time, but he is much happier in this one. The travel system is of great quality and looks stylish – it even has a leather effect handle. The pushchair feels just as secure using the car seat as it does the main seat, which is another feature myself and my friends loved. I would also recommend this product due to the braking system – it’s the only travel system that I have used where I could put the brakes on using the handle, which is really useful.

How has this product made your life easier?

This product has made my life easier as a mum as I am able to travel easily with the pushchair and use it on various grounds. I recently took the Pepper to the Lake District and even on the uneven grounds and going up hills, the pushchair felt really sturdy no matter where I pushed it. I can relax when pushing the pushchair, as I know my baby is comfortable in the memory foam seat. Another thing I loved about this pushchair is how stylish it looked – I felt proud of pushing it. This travel system is great for taller mums and dads too, as it has an adjustable handle meaning you don’t have to slouch over. I also loved that it’s a natural colour so my partner didn’t mind pushing it whilst we were out.

Would you choose this product to win?

One of the reasons this product should win a Mother & Baby award is because of how small it folds up. It folds completely flat and the wheels can be removed using the quick release feature. I have a small boot on my car and struggle for space at the best of times, so these features stand out most for me, as it means I am no longer having to use the back seats of my car for my changing bag or shopping. The pushchair is perfect for families that have small cars or limited space. Another winning factor is the memory foam seat unit, as it looks really comfortable and secure.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about this pushchair, it would be the basket size, as I found it a little small and difficult to access when using the pushchair with the seat unit. Apart from that, I’d definitely give the pushchair 10/10.

Tested by mum Lauren Hutchinson for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

There are so many things about this product that I love. I feel like this travel system has been designed to make life easier for mums and make life more comfortable for babies. I love how light it is to push – it just glides over all types of paths and going over bumps is effortless. Being so easy and light to push, I was worried it wouldn’t be very sturdy, however, it has been built to a high standard and the materials used are fantastic. It folds down to a very compact size, which is fantastic for our little car boot as it fits with room to spare. I also love how padded the material is for the pushchair, as I know that my little boy is comfortable on the move.

How has this product made your life easier?

The main feature I have found to be amazing is the brake on the system, which is attached to the handlebar as it is so much easier and quicker to use. I can apply the brake with the need an of a button. I have to use the bus quite often and with another child holding my hand, trying to secure the pushchair can be tricky, but this system means I can apply the brake without any struggles. Another fantastic feature is the hood, as there is a zip that allows me to extend the hood so that it completely covers my son – ideal for British weather. I can relax knowing that if the sun does come out and I don’t have sun cream, I can protect my son with the extendable factor 50 protective hood.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would definitely choose this product to win a Mother & Baby award, as it has features I have not seen elsewhere on the market and it is easily the best travel system I have ever used. There is ample room in the shopping basket and although it can be a little tricky to access, it is not an issue for me. The fact it is so light yet sturdy, it has a unique braking system and looks so beautiful makes it a clear winner. I would not hesitate in recommending this to fellow mums.

What changes would you make to this product?

It is really hard to find something I would change about this product, but I suppose as with everything there has to be room for improvement. The shopping basket has a great amount of room, but it is a little awkward to access with the pushchair attached. It would be great if I could access it easily, no matter what position the pushchair seat is in.

Tested by mum Charlotte Stock for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this travel system to other mummies because it is safe and secure and a comfortable ride for both babies and toddlers. There is plenty of basket space under the pushchair and a large memory foam seating unit. The pushchair itself is stylish, sleek and a lovely gender-neutral grey colour.

How has this product made your life easier?

This travel system makes my life easier as a mum because it is incredibly easy to assemble and it takes up a small amount of boot space. One factor that my partner and I love is that the handlebar is height adjustable – my partner is very tall and is able to push the pushchair comfortably.

Would you choose this product to win?

This travel system definitely beats the competitors in this category as it's lightweight, comfortable and has all of the features of higher priced travel systems for a lower price. The pushchair has great features such as a brake that can be controlled on the handle bar, removable wheels and an adjustable handle.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing on this pushchair it would be a cosmetic change – personally, I would love it if the handle bar was in a mirrored, silver material.

Tested by mum Katy Folan for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would definitely recommend this to other mums as it is so easy to use. The pushchair frame folds with the chair still attached, which is a major bonus for me when I’m trying to get my baby home in a rush. The height of the Pepper is great, and allowed my son to have a good view of the world. The seat itself is fully adjustable and offered lots of different reclined positions. The hood is also excellent as it has a large extend, keeping my little one protected in the sun. I liked the fact that the seat could parent face and world face, giving me the option to customise the pushchair based on my son’s mood. It was also nice having a brake that was controlled with my hands, rather than a traditional foot brake.

How has this product made your life easier?

The Pepper definitely made nap time easier, as my son was so comfortable in this he fell asleep easily and stayed asleep, safe under the protection of the UV protected hood. It has a really large basket, which I found useful for shopping and storage. It also makes life easier as it folds in one piece, which is very handy rather than having to take the seat off each time. It was also easy to fold which makes a big difference outside a supermarket in the rain!

Would you choose this product to win?

I just loved the design of the Pepper – it looks so stylish and the leather edging gives it a slightly traditional feel. It was also large (without being too large!) – my son is tall for his age and was very comfortable in it. The label stating that the hood offers UV protection is also very reassuring to mums walking around in the summer.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the brake, as when the seat was in a reclined position it rested on the brake which made it difficult to access. I would also change the shopping basket slightly as it could be slightly more accessible, but I really feel these are minor issues and that overall, the Pepper was an excellent product to use.

Tested by mum Nicola Joy for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This pushchair surprised me in a number of ways. First of all, it is a lot lighter than it looks. It is easy to collapse and folds up into a very small compact unit which is easy to lift and fit into the boot of the car - particularly useful if you have a small boot or have lots of things to carry around in the car.

How did this product make your life easier?

The fact that everything on this chair is adjustable is a big bonus meaning that you can adjust everything to fit your child and also yourself. With both the footrest and the backrest being adjustable your child/baby will always be comfortable. Additionally, the handlebar is adjustable so that the parent is comfortable and in control of the chair.

Would you choose this product to win?

There was nothing about the ABC Design Pepper that I could really find fault with. The ride was very comfortable both on the smooth pavements and also on the rough paths in the woods. Due to the adjustable handlebar you always feel in control of the pushchair and this makes it easy to control and manoeuvre. The addition of good quality, easy to apply brake meant that I felt extremely safe and confident with this pushchair.

What changes would you make to this product?

Although there is a large basket underneath the pushchair, the access to it is not always easy depending on the set up of the pushchair. The wheels at the back are quite wide apart and so getting through narrow doorways can be a bit tricky - although the ease of handling of the pushchair due to the adjustable handlebars counter this.

Tested by mum Christina Tingle for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I loved the ABC Design Pepper Travel System. It seemed huge but for all the right reasons. The carry cot was so big you could still use this for a 4-month-old baby when sleeping. The colour of it was lovely and the leather details where great too. It folds down really well, is well built, and is lovely to push. It felt very comfy in there.

How did this product make your life easier?

I think the pram and pushchair part when on the main frame felt high so you didn't have to bend down into it to get a child in and out. On both parts, you could use it with the zips down and extend the hood on hotter days. It also came with a net to pop over it when using it on hot days also.

What changes would you make to this product?

The bar across the middle of the basket was a bit of an issue when buying the larger items at a supermarket. But personally, there's nothing else I’d change about the ABC Design Pepper.

Tested by mum Katheryn Dragffy - Brown for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend the ABC Design Pepper Travel System to a friend/fellow mum because it is very well designed, it is sleek and stylish. A Strong and solid pushchair. It is very easy to assemble and fold down. The handle is height adjustable which helps people of different heights. The material is very soft so makes it very comfortable for a child to ride in.

How did this product make your life easier?

The ABC Design Pepper Travel System helped make my life easier as we enjoy walking, so this pushchair is small enough to be folded up and transported in a car. It pushes great on solid ground and also terrain ground. I liked the fact that you could put the brake on at the handlebar, so you are not looking for the foot brake.

Would you choose this product to win?

It looks sleek and stylish. It has a sun protection UPF of 50+. It is very easy to push on either smooth or terrain ground. It is forward or world facing which is good for an older toddler. It is very light, and it can be stored and transported very easily. I like how the buckle can be stored away in a little pouch so the child can't loosen the straps and climb out.

What changes would you make to this product?

The thing I would change about this pushchair is to make the shopping basket a little taller. I found that it could only hold 2 bags of shopping and if bags were full, going up a high curb you may lose something. I couldn't find any more faults with this pushchair.

Tested by mum Lindsay James for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the ABC Design Pepper Travel System to a friend because it looks great and looks amazing and well designed. It's also easy to push around and even with loads of shopping and stuff on it was very light to push. It fitted nicely in my car and could fit more things around it. It took me a while to put it up and down but as soon as figured it out I was fine with it.

How did this product make your life easier?

This pram could fit a lot shopping and everything I needed to underneath it which was great as that was usually my biggest problem with finding a pram. It was very light to push on and off-road. The rain cover was easy to get on and off and fold back away easily, and I had no problems changing the position of the seats.

Would you choose this product to win?

It’s a great looking pram, very light to push and good storage, but it took me a little longer to fold it down and put it up. But once I got the hang of it I found it a bit better, it just took me a lot longer than some others.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change how it folds.

Tested by mum Hannah Britton for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This product is so worth the money. I would recommend it as being one of the most comfortable prams, it has memory foam and extra padding for the baby’s head. It's easy to change from rear facing to forward facing. It has a large shopping basket, for all the extra we mums need to carry! The handle is very comfy.

How did this product make your life easier?

The comfort for my child was great, she felt safe and secure and easily fell asleep! Having a comfy handle was great for long distance walks. The large shopping basket underneath was more than enough space. Having UPF 50+ sun visor to protect my child from the sun. Having a viewing window for parents while having the protector over meant I could ensure my child was OK.

Would you choose this product to win?

The fact the designer has thought so much about the child comfort, having memory foam and extra padding for the child's head, I personally believe this product should win! To a parent who wants the child to be comfortable at all times, this is the pram. The colour or pattern is not important when you know the efforts that have been put into this pram.

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't like the different colour in the handle and it looks about out of place! Also having a better range of colours to choose from. Although with this pram it isn't important about colour as it has so many other pros as to why this pram is the best for your baby! Also, the price is slightly too steep, although you get what you pay for!
