At a glance:

Lindam’s Easy Fit Plus Deluxe Safety Gate is easy to fit and locks effectively. It can be opened with one hand, which is great for parents who usually have their arms laden with stuff – babies, bottles, toys and all sorts of other little-person-paraphernalia.

How did this product make your life easier?

Nicola: This child gate makes my life easier as I have placed it at the top of the stairs to stop my toddler from falling down them. It is excellent to know that she can play upstairs while I’m getting ready or sorting washing and she is safe and contained. This gate opens both ways which are really useful if you are carrying things upstairs. It also has two latches making it extra safe.

Emma: This product makes my life easier as a mum as the product feels well made and sturdy. Even though it is a push fit stair gate it makes me feel confident that my child would not easily be able to move the stair gate. Being push-fit, it was quick and easy to install which when juggling a toddler is very useful.

Rosanna: This gate is ideal for using on areas such as kitchen door or other areas downstairs. I like the way it closes and it does feel sturdy. It could easily be moved or transported so ideal for renters as it won't damage walls when installed. I think it's easy to fit and had no trouble putting it up or taking it down to move.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Zahrah: This gate is easy to use. It is easy to install, a great price and a simple quality item. I love the fact it has a 2-way opening and comes with a lifetime guarantee too. It just goes to show the quality of Lindam products. You can also buy extensions for the gate if you have a wider doorway or stairwell which is great too as I know some others that are just one size.

Stephanie: Yes. For the price, it is easy to assemble, easy to use and requires no drilling for any DIY phobes out there. I would say ours was out of the box and attached to the wall in about 10 to 15 minutes which is great when the toddler is already on the move trying to make their escape. The price is also similar to other products available on the market.

Hannah: I would recommend this product to another mum as it was easy to fit, it didn’t do any damage to the walls and it felt secure when in place. The gate handle for opening is meant to be easy to do with one hand which is important when carrying a child with your other arm but to be honest I did find that more difficult! I often had to use one hand to squeeze and one hand to lift but that might be the fact I’m just cack-handed!

Would you choose this product to win?

Clare: I would choose this product above others because having already used other gates, it is definitely easier to operate. It has a simple design that would fit with most décor so it is not as trying as some others. The size does though make it not so easy to fit across some stairway widths, but adapters are available. It is good though as a doorway gate.

Michelle: For the price the Easy Fit Plus Deluxe Safety Gate is a good gate, I like the fact you don't have to drill your walls or staircase, the gate feels solid and when you manually put the bottom lock on its sturdy. But I don't think I would choose over other gates because without putting the bottom lock o, it feels un-secure. Also, when you unlock it, it moves freely in both directions, plus the lock feels a little too easy to unlock.

Emma: Even though I am impressed with the build and the ease of fit. I would not choose this over other products. I find the mechanism difficult to open one-handed and this is especially challenging when carrying a child. Even after use, I have found it no easier compared to a cheaper version we have in another room.

What changes would you make to this product?

Nicola: If I could change one thing it would be to include some extension pieces. This gate wasn’t wide enough for our stairs (which I think are a standard width) and so we had to buy the extension pack separately. The extensions were a bit fiddly to add. It might also be nice to offer a different colour other than white.

Rosanna: I would like this product to have an option to fix to walls, although I appreciate that this is designed more with flexibility in mind. Personally I don't think it's suitable for the top of stairs which is where I would most want to have a good gate. It does a good job downstairs however and this is just my personal preference.

Hannah: Making the handle even easier to open for people like me! Although, having said that, we have had stair gates in the past that slide across to open which are much easier to open one-handed but also feel a lot less secure and my 3-year-old can also open which defeats the point of a stair gate! The safety bar at the bottom is also a slight trip hazard until you get used to it.
