At a glance:

Chicco EasyFit is a great little carrier. Not only is it reasonably priced at just £20, you put it on like a t-shirt, meaning there is no need for an extra pair of hands, or complex instructions. Your baby can face inward or outward. The only downside is there isn’t much room for growth, and the carrier is only suitable for little ones up to six months.

What they say:

"Either parent or forward facing, this baby carrier is designed for both your's and your baby's comfort. It is suitable from birth to a maximum weight of 9kg, easy to wear, adjusts easily as your baby grows and provides extra support for baby's head and neck for the first few months. We provide a free two year guarantee."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I already have – I really loved how the product folds into a small size. I bought a carrier by a different brand which I took on holiday and it didn't fold up as easily – in fact, my husband's hand luggage for the plane was taken up completely by just the carrier! The Chicco Easyfit is much more portable. Also, price-wise, it is much more affordable than others on the market and I think it's just as good quality. I personally don't use a carrier that often so to pay around £70 puts me off, especially when there's so much more you need to buy for a baby.

How did this product make your life easier?

I find this carrier quite comfortable. In my personal experience, using a carrier is of most benefit when travelling by bus and plane. There are times when you are left without your pram and need to carry other things (in my case, lots of luggage!), so it's really important to have a safe carrier which I'm confident with so I can have my hands free to carry other things.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would yes! I'll admit I'm a bit of a ‘brand snob’ (!), so I'd instinctively go for a brand that is closely associated with the product category and often pay more to ensure I get a product that's of the best quality, especially when it comes to baby items. If I had to choose between the product I bought myself and this one, then I'd definitely go for this one. It's just as good quality as the one I have already and it's much cheaper. I also did some research and have seen that it comes in lots of different colours which is great.

What changes would you make to this product?

The product does exactly what it's meant to, and does it well, so I don't think I'd change anything really. Also the price is very reasonable. If I had to pick something as I’m reviewing this for the Mother & Baby awards, the only one thing I struggled with was the instructions, which need to be a little clearer. That said, it's quite easy to work out how to use it without even looking at the instructions!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this because it’s so simple to use. It's really easy to change the position of the baby (forward facing or front facing) and for a quick outing it’s great. I simply pull it over my head like it's a t-shirt, sit down, slide my baby into the carrier, tighten the shoulder straps and we're ready to go. There’s no messing around with lots of straps and clips.

How did this product make your life easier?

In general it’s pretty easy to use. I tried to see what I could figure out on my own before needing the directions and think it’s a very intuitive design. It folds away extremely easily and folds up to about the size of a double sheet, making it very easy to store away when not in use. My daughter loves being in the carrier and it certainly makes venturing out onto the very busy high street a lot easier. I’d recommend it to other mums, but I would clarify that this is mostly for smaller babies – the weight limit is 9kg. Also if you breastfeed, it’s worth knowing that you can’t breastfeed your baby in this carrier which is a shame.

Would you choose this product to win?

I wouldn’t choose this above all others on the market, as even though it’s a good price I’d prefer to spend a little more on something that I’m able to wear for long walks, can breastfeed my baby in and will be able to use beyond 9kg. However, my reasons are personal, and I still think this would be a great buy for the budget conscious mother who wants an easy to use, structured carrier for around the home.

What changes would you make to this product?

I’d like a waist strap for added support and comfort, as when using the Chicco Easyfit, it felt like the carrier could eventually put some strain on the shoulders and back. However, with a more complex design I imagine that the price would likely increase.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I found the Chicco Easyfit to be really light and quite compact. I tested this product in the summer and I felt that there wasn't as much padding around my baby’s body as there is in other carriers, which meant she didn’t get too hot. I also really liked the elastic straps to keep the excess straps tucked away. The design is fantastic and it's so easy to pull on over your head.

How did this product make your life easier?

I really love carrying my baby in a sling or baby carrier and she seems to really like it too. I’ve also found if I can't get her to sleep then the baby carrier and a little walk always does the trick. We love going for walks as a family and the Chicco Easyfit has made it so much easier. My husband has loved using the baby carrier too, which is great as we have been able to take it in turns. I also find it easier to go about my day to day using it – in the supermarket it is great to use it, and if she's having a grizzly day, I can put her in the carrier and go about the things I need to do. I’ve even worn this baby carrier mowing the lawn!

Would you choose this product to win?

For the price, I feel that this is a really good carrier – it easily compares to one twice the price. The fact that it's lightweight and compact is a bonus, as is the ease and simplicity of putting it on as it is so easy to pull on over your head and quickly adjust. The fabric is so soft too, especially on the inside.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing that would change is the size of the straps that they go across the back. Also the length of the adjustable part needs to be about an inch shorter for me – at the moment there feels like there is a bit of a gap between myself and the baby, but I'm sure that as she grows it won't be an issue.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I found the Easyfit carier to be good value for money, lightweight and easy to transport. I can't comment on how easy it was to keep clean, as thankfully had no need to wipe or wash it yet! In my opinon, this sling would be a good investment for anyone wanting to try baby carrying.

How did this product make your life easier?

The sling has made it possible to comfort my baby and keeping her close, whilst freeing up my hands to do other things. I found it useful to use inside the house when my baby was wanting to be held and I needed to get on with a million and one other things.

Would you choose this product to win?

I do not think I would choose this product above others on the market, as despite its excellent price, I would rather pay more in order to receive a sturdier item which offers more head and back support to my baby. I made several adjustment to th carrier and watched a video online to ensure I had my baby in the correct position, even after this her head did not feel as supported as I would have liked.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would have liked the sling to offer more head support.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

It’s priced very well and I think it is just as good quality as some that are a lot more expensive. It’s easy to fit your baby into it and doesn’t need two people to get baby in and out which is nice. It is also simple with the tightening loops and made me feel as though my baby was nice and safe.

How did this product make your life easier?

The carrier is super easy to just grab and pop on and fit my newborn well. It also was very soft, so I didn’t have to worry about it rubbing or being uncomfortable for my baby. Also, as all mums will know, life is always easier when you can be hands free!

Would you choose this product to win?

Despite all of the positives, I think I would choose a different design of sling to win, but this is purely my personal preference. However, if I was to buy this style of baby carrier, then I would definitely go for this one!

What changes would you make to this product?

I am not sure I would change anything. I think other mums I know might like a different pattern or a choice of colours, but to be honest, I would probably go for black anyway. It’s a bit of a shame it only goes up to around six months, but generally I really liked this carrier
