At a glance:

The Kaatu Carrier is great as it can be used both front and back facing, which is great if you want to free up your hands. That said, it’s not the easiest to get on without an extra pair of hands.

What they say:

"Introducing our Kaatu Baby Carrier (0m–24m). This simple, front & back-carry baby carrier is perfect for new-borns up to 2 years and is available in Bright Colours and Lively Fabric Patterns."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums firstly because of the quality – it is really well made, the design is great, it looks good and is versatile. The Kaatu can be used from birth, with the newborn insert and will last until your little one is two years old. The Kaatu can be used as a traditional carrier on your front, and can also be used on your back when baby turns six months. I really like the little touches, such as the bands on the ends of the straps to keep the excess tidy, and the hood to support the baby's head if it falls asleep

How did this product make your life easier?

The Kaatu gives me lots of freedom to be able to multi-task as only a mum with a young baby can. Using the Kaatu leaves me with my hands free, so I can get on with the housework and play with my other children, which really does make life easier. My little girl loves spending time in the Kaatu as she is at that stage where she loves to be held. Having her in this carrier gives me the ability to soothe my daughter whilst being able to get on with life as a mum of five.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes probably, there are many carriers on the market that are badly designed but the Kaatu has obviously had a lot of thought put into its design. I also love the colour options available, there are a few choices available – I tested the grey one and think it looks lovely.

What changes would you make to this product?

I could do with an extra pair of hands when attempting to fasten the shoulder straps as it's a bit fiddly, especially when baby is being a bit wriggly. It is possible but takes a bit of practice. I also found that the hood didn't seem to sit quite right over my daughters head when it was up.

Firstly, I was amazed at how compact this product was when I first opened the box – it was small enough to fit in a nappy bag or even in my older child’s backpack and I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family. It is easy to put on yourself without needing help and I loved how comfortable my child was when she was in it. This is a great product to take while travelling and walking.

How did this product make your life easier?

My old carrier was quite difficult to put on so I was quite worried about this, but the step by step instruction manual was really very helpful. My daughter Hollie looked comfortable and content in this and unlike my old one, she was comfortable enough to fall asleep. I am amazed that I am now able to do housework and look after my five year old knowing Hollie is comfy, happy and can sleep if she needs to.

I really do think this product should win, its ease of use for busy on the go parents is a winner already! The only downside to this product is that I can’t figure out how to fold it back down. On the plus side, the material is breathable and the straps are so much better that I can enjoy a family walk now without breaking out in a sweat!

What changes would you make to this product?

Honestly, there is not much I would change about this product, I think it’s great! My daughter sits comfortably and enjoys being close to me. I understand that this product only goes to 33lb, so the only change I would make would be to increase this, allowing me to use it for longer.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this to friends because I found it extremely easy to use and loved how comfortable my baby seemed in it. It feels extremely well made and it's very easy to put on and the colours are smart and modern. That said, I didn’t find it all that easy to fold and put away. There are different ways of using it which the instruction booklet clearly explains using text and pictures. I have been putting it in a small bag which has made taking it around with me easier, but it would have been nice if it came with a small pouch.

How did this product make your life easier?

I found that the baby carrier has made nipping to the shop a lot easier without messing around with the pram, I also love that I can walk my dogs in areas which are unsuitable for the pram, as I have not been able to do so before. Whilst testing this carrier, my son started teething and was especially clingy and wanting cuddles, so it was a breeze to be able to put the washing out and do household tasks while giving my son the attention and closeness he needed.

I had a baby carrier bought as a gift when my baby was born and after having used it, I can see that this baby carrier is far superior in quality. The Kaatu carrier felt well-made and looked extremely modern. I especially liked that it came with a cushion to make it more comfortable for my son, as the one I had before seemed to cut into his thighs. I have already recommended this to friends as I have been asked about it already.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about the Katuu baby carrier it would be for it to come with a travel pouch to make it easier to take around with me. Also, the colours of the carrier I received were very nice, however maybe a wider colour selection would make it feel more personal.

The product is lightweight and good for little ones who need to be carried. In parent facing mode, the little one is close to the chest and heart and can therefore hear Mum's heartbeat and feel comforted by the gentle rocking motion that they grew used to in the womb. I like this carrier, it has helped me conduct daily tasks easily.

How did this product make your life easier?

Baby wearing makes life easier as enables me to be hands-free both around the house and out and about. This carrier is lightweight in comparison to some of the other fixed buckle carriers out there, and compacts down a lot smaller, meaning it is easy to fit into the changing bag and therefore easier to carry around as a secondary means of holding the baby, should the little one not want to be in their pushchair.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would not choose this product above others on the market - as a stay at home mum with no help nearby, trying to put my little one into this carrier was challenging and I found it hard to get both the straps to fit comfortably and securely for me, whilst also keeping my little one safe and feeling secure. My little one wriggled a lot and so trying to juggle cross straps whilst holding him against my body and getting the straps the right tightness was not easy. Even when I'd secured my little one, the straps underneath my arms kept catching on his hands and arms and he voiced his disapproval of this numerous times. When I was trying to help to seat him properly, the straps kept pulling in tight around my neck and so it was my neck, rather than my back that was supporting a lot of the weight.

What changes would you make to this product?

This product was not easy to put on for a single person in either mode - other fixed carriers have overcome this issue, but unfortunately I could not say the same for this carrier. I struggled a lot with the cross straps and making my little one feel secure, this should be improved.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums and dads because it is easy to use while you have other jobs to do. My baby is much happier when she feels close to me and I felt this product was good quality and secure.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes life easier because when your baby is crying and just wants a cuddle, you can pop them in and they sit comfortably close to you as they sleep. I found this reassuring and felt that my baby was safe inside.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes I would choose this product above all others on the market because not only is it secure, it is also comfortable for you and your baby. Each baby is different size but I have used this with my five-week-old baby and my 16-week-old niece and with both I felt comfortable!

What changes would you make to this product?

I wish this baby carrier came in a few more colours. I also think the product would benefit from clerer instructions, as it took a lot of time trying to work out how to fasten it.
