Una the Unicorn Trunki

At a glance:

We love this unicorn Trunki! Not only does she make travelling more fun for your tot, she comes with sparkly stickers so she can be personalised. The price point may be a little higher than other baby suitcases, but we believe the high-quality, durable Trunki is a game changer.

What they say:

“Una the Unicorn, with her magical powers had been designed to beat the boredom suffered by travelling tots - Trunki is a hand luggage-sized ride-on suitcase that tots can pack with all their favourite belongings whilst parents keep them in tow. Added play factor - comes with a silky rainbow tail and glittery horn and stickers. Designed to be used as hand luggage, kids can pack Trunki with all their favourite belongings whilst parents keep them in tow. It’s made from the same lightweight yet durable plastic as adult suitcases, and we test it to the extremes to make sure it can take all the wear and tear an excited three-year-old can throw at it. We’re so confident of the quality, that we’re offering a free five-year guarantee with every Trunki purchase.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes! This product is great to help young ones understand about holidays and what to take. It's very easy to open and locks with a key. It's great to have the safety strap as well, to pin things down and stop them rolling around. The Trunki is of high quality and is easy to keep clean for hygiene reasons. It’s like a little animal friend to the children and can even be played with at home and in the garden. There are especially hours of fun to be had with the tail, my daughter loves plaiting it and brushing it. It's bold and I love the unicorn idea. This is very fashionable at the moment and I think a lot of children would love this product. Happy children = happy parents!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product made my life easier because I could pack most of my daughter’s holiday things in her own bag that she takes pride in holding herself. She is able to pull it along and to sit on it in queues. She played with it so much and was always entertained, it is definitely worth the money!

My daughter would most definitely choose this product against the others on the market. I love how bold and colourful the design is and it seems very strong and durable, it may even last me until my second child. The strap is a big plus too. My husband has enjoyed pulling her around on it and she would love this at the airport – it’s perfect for when little legs get tired.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think it could be little bigger, but then again that would make it harder to store away compactly. Otherwise, it’s a fun, bright suitcase for a small person to have and was a pleasure to have with us on holiday.

I have already recommended it through social media, by posting pictures of our happy girl on the Trunki! It was so easy to store, which is great as we don't have a lot of storage, but this fit nicely on top of our wardrobe. The Trunki is very light weight, which my five-year-old was so pleased with, as it made it easier for her to pull the case along, or for mummy and daddy to pull her along!

How did this product make your life easier?

Oh my, the Trunki was so useful for us parents! My daughter is five-years-old and she found the Trunki very easy to use, it was not heavy even when we had packed her holiday clothes inside. It made travelling through the departure lounge and onto the ferry so much less stressful, and my daughter did not moan once that she was bored, as she had Una the Unicorn by her side!

The style of the Trunki is perfect for little girls, as it’s a lovely colour and the option to decorate it with sparkly stickers is even better. The added rainbow unicorn tail was amazing as my little girl could brush and plait it. I really think this is a winner, it made my little girl so happy to see people looking at her and smiling, as if she was riding a real unicorn. This product is magical!

What changes would you make to this product?

We found that the horn would bend if knocked and come off, so we suggest that it should be fixed and made out of hard plastic.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend Una the Unicorn Trunki. It makes life easier for mums as young children want to use it, which makes packing for holidays easier as you can separate their items into their own. The fact that the child can ride on the Trunki is the best part as it’s great for little legs.

How did this product make your life easier?

I think the Trunki is a great case for young children and the added glittery stickers are a fab idea as it means the child can personalise it! The case doesn’t fold but it’s so small that it’s still very easy to store. I loved the unicorn design and the detailing involved, e.g. the tail.

This product is definitely made with children in mind and it should definitely win a Mother & Baby award. I love the idea of children being able to decorate the case, making it more personal. It also covers a big age range meaning it will last a long time.

What changes would you make to this product?

The clasps are difficult for little hands to undo, so this could be improved!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, the size of this product is brilliant, just small enough for toddlers to move themselves about. I think I could easily fit all of my daughter's clothes in it for a week away and I like that it can be cabin baggage. Design-wise, Una the Unicorn may not last the test of time as the horn was pretty flimsy, but I love the idea and the stickers were fun to put on!

How did this product make your life easier?

Both my 18-month-old and three-year-old are loving this product. They take it for rides around the house, pushing each other or themselves along. I can imagine it really helping at train stations and airports, especially if they are tired.

Trunki is a well-known brand and I have always wanted to try one of their suitcases! I think the suitcase itself is sturdy and fun and most importantly my children want to use it, so it will make a difference when travelling. I think the Una theme is fun and very fashionable!

What changes would you make to this product?

I would make the added extras, such as the horn and side pocket, more sturdy so that they won’t come off over time!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes I definitely would. I think that it is a practical item and very user-friendly. The locking mechanism on it is really good - in fact I like the fact that I can open it easily but my three-year-old can't. It is very easy to either wheel or carry and is comfortable for the kids to sit on as well. I particularly like the unicorn tail on this model - it makes it really fun, but is also well put together. When I first saw it, I half expected it to either become grubby or to fall off quickly, but it completely kept its form.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is great to make travelling fun and to get the kids to help me when packing to go on holiday. It makes the mundane part of holidays fun and the kids love it. Also, it is a source of entertainment in the airport which is normally the most stressful time. I really like the capacity of it as I can cram in a lot of clothes and toys, despite the fact it doesn't take up too much space in the car.

Would you choose this product to win?

This product is definitely the best child's luggage I have seen. Trunki seem to have got it spot on in terms of the design - it is 100% practical but also really funky and the kids adore it. There are some cheaper versions, but I don't think they have the same design quality.

What changes would you make to this product?

The price point is a little bit high in my opinion - I feel that it could be more at £30 and this would make me more inclined to buy one. I would still buy one for my own children, but if the price point was a little lower I would be more inclined to get one as a gift for nieces, nephews, friends etc. There is nothing I would change about the product itself. I think it is brilliant!
