Splash About Happy Nappy Sunsuit at a glance:

Splash About's new Happy Nappy Sunsuit is a unique combination of a lightweight, soft, stretchy Nylon Lycra body and reliable, reusable swim nappy. Offering UV 50+ sun protection, 3/4 sleeves and a high neck, your baby's young skin is protected from the sun's harmful rays. The close-knit fabric also protects against wind and sand too. In the water, the form-fitting neoprene Happy Nappy swim nappy provides maximum protection against faecal leaks. Perfect for travel; no need for bulky disposable swim nappies, space-saving in a suitcase/change bag. There is also a back zip for easy dressing and quick drying too!

How did this product make your life easier?

Julia: Great to have something well made and practical for the beach or swimming pool. They come in nice designs and are of good quality fabric. Helps to have it as an all in one as this saves time when getting kids changed, but can be tricky when needing to deal with nappies/toilet issues. Keeps them warm when needed and helpful to know that they also have SPF protection.

Emma: This sunsuit is easy to get on a wriggly 1 year old - as it’s an all in one it makes life simpler than if you are trying to put on several different garments. The built-in UV protection helps protect little one’s’ sensitive skin when they’re playing on the beach or in the garden. An easy zip-up back makes it easy to take on and off whilst avoiding getting little fingers caught (and little hands attempt to take it off themselves).

Chris: I really liked this product. With lockdown it meant that I could put my little girl in it and we could go and play in the garden and in the paddling pool. Because it was an all in one thing it meant she had decent coverage from the sun and it and there were no leaks (or saggy bums). She was really happy wearing it and wasn't restricted in any way so could run about the whole garden without it weighing her down. This was so helpful because it meant I had a happy baby and we could go out to play when lockdown kept us from our family and it was even better when people could visit in our garden. I know this would have been great too if we'd managed our summer holiday. It was also a lovely print and really bright so was nice to look at. It washed well and dried quickly too for the next day to get out again (have to make the most of any sunshiney day).

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Alex: The design, comfort, and ease of use were definitely big factors for me from this product. I loved that the design I picked wasn't 'too girly' and my daughter wore it for a couple of hours and was didn't try to take it off (normally once she gets wets she wants to be naked) so this was a big win for me.

Katie: The design is super cute for a start and even though the material is quite thick, it doesn't take up much space at all. The material is super comfy and the quality is fantastic making it much easier to take baby swimming as we all know how stressful it can be. The zip at the back makes it really easy to get on and off

Sonal: Yes I would recommend this sunsuit to other mothers. The key benefits for me are that I don't have to put suncream on the parts of the body that are covered... Which otherwise becomes a messy task to put on and then wash off not to mention the things the suncream would have to rub off on to. I know with this sunsuit, he's protected. Foldability and lightweight of the sunsuit make it good for holidays.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Callie: I would be tempted to choose this product above all others (but bear in mind that I have never actually seen a product like this before) because of the two in one aspect and the fact it helps with just throwing one thing into the bag before you leave the house. For a busy Mum or Dad it always helps not to have to pop to the shop for swim nappies on your way to the swimming baths.

Katherine: I would definitely choose this product over all other on the market at the moment because the design was stylish and attractive to my daughter's tastes and it really did stop the need to swim nappies which is not only a good thing for saving money but also reduces waste so will be good for the environment.

Sonal: I am not sure I would choose this product over others in the market, because the outfit choices I had were not neutral in design, and therefore not future proof in case I have a girl next. The designs are very beautiful and the colours lovely, but I just didn't think they were neutral enough.

What changes would you make to this product?

Katie: The only thing I would change about this item is that there aren't many styles or colours to choose from and I would have liked a larger variety, but other than that I think the product is brilliant and I would definitely buy it and think it deserves to win. The price is also very good considering the quality.

Alex: I think if the product came with a waterproof bag that you could put the product in once it was wet after a swimming session then this would be fantastic and I'd pay a bit more than the retail price for this extra, but the actual product itself I wouldn't change anything, it definitely deserves to win this category.

Emma: I tested the 12-24 months size and found it quite roomy on the top half for my just turned 1-year-old so a smaller size might have been better. Although there is a bit of room for growth in it, I’m not sure it will still fit in 12 months time therefore I’d like to see 12-18 month and 18-24month sizing. Otherwise I was very happy with it.
