The Splash About UV sun protection UPF 50+ FloatSuit has an adjustable buoyancy system. This swimming and flotation aid gives children the confidence and skills to swim without letting them become dependent on the buoyancy! It can be adjusted to suit any child, with two floats per pocket so that buoyancy can be individually tailored. The Nylon Lycra fabric gives added windproof and sand proof protection and a brand new zip ensures it is easy to take on and off.
How did this product make your life easier?
Sally: Well this product has numerous benefits! It is an all in one suit which makes it easy to get on to a very active 2-year-old. The UV protection gives me peace of mind on holiday in the sunshine, although I still apply all over suncream to be sure. The floats work great and can be adjusted easily by an adult but not my toddler enough we get good buoyancy in the pool and help encourage my toddler to swim. It's also given her great confidence in the pool. The bright and vibrant colours are great too, although my child is near out of my eyesight I like to make sure she is dressed brightly in swimwear so she is easy to spot.
Rachael: This product is really good, I was very impressed with it and I liked the design and coverage of it. It offers UV protection, which I always look for with swimwear or swim aids. I also really liked the choices of designs and the other products when I looked at the website. It’s comfy for my little one to wear and also a great aid for learning to swim. We live very close to the beach, so having this product was helpful to me.
Laura: Swimming with a baby or toddler can be nerve-wracking as they're slippery in the water and you worry about them sliding into the water. It's also hard work having to hold onto them so tightly in the water when they're too young to swim. The Floatsuit is brilliant in that it makes your little one float and encourages them into a swimming position. It meant I was able to hold onto my little one's hands and encourage her to find her balance in the water, rather than having to carry her like a little baby. She's already confident in the water, but as she learns to kick and move her arms more, I'll be able to remove floats and encourage her to swim and tread water on her own.
Would you recommend this to other mums?
Kyla: It is quite a bulky item, so you need to bear in mind how you normally travel to the swimming pool. We were cycling, so it took up a lot of space in the rucksack, but it was manageable. It is very easy to put on and adjust the floats and was a good fit. The design seems robust and the quality of the material was good. I would recommend it if someone was specifically looking for a flotation aid as it is all in one, so you don't need a separate costume and flotation aid.
Natasha: I would recommend this over the swimming vest as my little girl was to use her arms a lot better. There was lots of different swimming float suits to choose from, we chose the shark as she is still mad of baby shark. You can also remove the floats in the suit as they get more confident in the water.
Jamielee: I would recommend this product because it’s usability is amazing. All you have to do is pop it on your child and zip it up, it is very simple and having the ability to remove floats as you go means that it will last through while a child’s swimming skills progress. It also comes in a plastic bag which is perfect for using it to carry home when the suit is wet.
Would you choose this product to win?
Stephanie: I would choose this product to win. The quality is always really high with Splash About products. The designs are well thought out and practical for a toddler on the move. She had the floats to help keep her safe but they were never in her way to stop her playing. The UV Protection is also a big draw for all parents.
Laura: I currently have a Happy Nappy suit for my little girl and I would choose this Floatsuit instead. The fact it's easy to get on and off, has UV protection and helps her to learn to swim make it better than the alternative products on the market. I really like the fact that my daughter was more adventurous in the water when wearing it because she felt safer. She also slept loads better after wearing it as she'd had more of a workout!
Lorraine: It’s well designed, comfortable, colourful and a great swim/safety/sun protection aid. I think it’d be brilliant for a beach holiday or in a water park splash pool and was great for use in the paddling pool and running around the garden. Also good in the swimming pool, but does take a bit of fiddling around with the floats and seemed to be a bit disconcerting initially for my son. He did become used to it quite quickly and I think with regular use would be great.
What changes would you make to this product?
Teleri: The gender-typical designs. There is a range of colours and designs available but they are dominated by either pink or blue. I would like to see more green, red, etc options available. My little boy does love the blue and sea creatures but it's nice to have other options, especially if you want to pass it on to the next child! I like the product and the idea and I don't think it could be sold at a lower price and therefore I think this is the only improvement that I'd like to see.
Sally: This product is great and I don't think it needs changing but it would be great if this came with arm length sleeves and ankle-length legs to make sure my child is more covered. Additionally, it would be great to be able to purchase a matching hat that provides protection to the head and neck when playing in the water.
Rachael: Again this is tricky as I really liked this product so hard to think of something to change with it. The design choices are very much aimed at boys or girls but I would like to see more of a gender-neutral design or unisex designs. But I did really like it as a product and it was enjoyed by my little one.
