2015 – under 12 month Toy Award!

My Pal Scout and Violet is a playful, interactive, user-friendly toy that is great for babies and toddlers. The cuddly puppies (green for Scout, purple for Violet) can be personalised to suit each individual child. The set-up is straight forward; the USB connection is included and then it’s just a matter of connecting Scout or Violet to your computer and choosing from a host of options (name, favourite colour, animal, food etc.) to make the toy specific to your little one – details can be updated as your child grows and develops. The puppies talk, sing rhymes and songs (including upbeat songs for daytime and lullabies for night time), and also teach little ones about numbers, letters, colours and even feelings. An all-round fabulous toy that is considered under-priced in relation to its educational value and impressive capabilities.

2014 – 12-24 month Toy Award!

Leapfrog’s My Pal toy is cute, fun to play with and educational. It can be personalised to your child’s name and favourite things with an easy-to-use software tool that is included with the product. The programming instructions are clearly written so that even if one is not familiar with computers, the toy can be customised and updated without difficulty. Cuddly and interactive, the Scout and Violet My Pals also come with a lullaby feature, making them great bedtime accessories. The toy is robust, with lots of play options and a good battery life. A couple of negatives are that the toy cannot be washed (owing to its electronic component) and the Velcro closing at the back pops open with regular occurrence. But overall, a child-friendly, tactile toy that will be a sure winner with little ones in the 12- to 24-month age group!
