This stylish, timber picnic bench seats two children and features a sand/water bowl recessed inside the table top which can hold up to 14kg of sand or 10 litres of water.

When playtime’s over, the wooden cover pops easily into place, converting this back to a picnic table. It’s suitable for children aged two years and older.

Tested by Leanne, 32, mum to Darcie, 18 months, and Harrison, five. She says:

Even with very comprehensive instructions, assembling this put our DIY skills to the test.

I was sceptical about whether the picnic table/sandpit combo would be practical, but I couldn’t have been more wrong – this was a big hit! It looks fab and is exactly the right height for Darcie to sit at the picnic table and play with the sand.

Tested by Sarah, 33, mum to Emma, two, and Daniel, three, and expecting her third baby. She says:

Lovely design and sturdy yet stylish. However, it took over two hours to build – you should have heard my husband cursing!

It holds a decent amount of sand, but you end up with lots on the ground, as it spills out of the small-ish container, so regular refilling is needed. The children loved it, though – I couldn’t coax them back inside even when it rained!

Tested by Jayne, 37, mum to Lily, two, Oliver, nine, and Charlotte, 10. She says:

This is a lovely piece of garden furniture which takes up minimal space, and the hidden tray makes it look neat and tidy.

There’s room for lots of children, so it’s great for play dates and fun with siblings.

The price is very reasonable, given its durability and the enjoyment it brings – I’m sure Lily would play with this for years to come.
