At a glance:

Our panel of mum testers loved how safe and comfortable the Britax Romer looked on the go – from the soft padded seat, to the Isofix base, this was a stand-out car seat. We love that the Britax comes with a newborn insert and an adjustable head rest, allowing baby to lie flat in their car seat while also growing with your baby.

What they say:

“i-Size safety without compromise for your growing baby. This is our first infant carrier that conforms to the new car seat regulation ECE R129 (i-Size). The seat provides safety and comfort for new-borns up to 15 months, adjusting and protecting your child as they develop and grow to 83 cm in height.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this car seat as it was really padded and my son looked so comfy inside. The design is nice too, it looks really smart and I like that it comes in different colours, giving mums a choice - we chose the plain black one with the blue sides, as I thought it looked really chic. The material is great quality, I found it really easy to wipe down and also to remove the cover and put it through the washing machine. The fact that the headrest is adjustable makes the car seat great value for money, as it means that it is suitable from birth right up to 15 months.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Isofix base is great and the car seat was so easy to install into the car. It wasn’t too heavy in comparison to other car seats I have used, but it wasn’t too light either, which shows that it is well-designed and sturdy. Life is also easier as the removable seat-cover can be put straight in the wash!

After reviewing this product, I will definitely be looking at Britax before buying any other brand, as this car seat is fantastic. It is a bit pricey but I think it is well worth the extra money – not only does it look smart, but it is also really padded and very secure. I love that the height of the head rest can be adjusted from birth upwards!

What changes would you make to this product?

I cannot find fault with this product – I absolutely loved it!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to fellow mums as it is very easy to use. The newborn insert keeps your delicate baby secure and supports their head, which is really important. The Isofix base tilts, which is great for positioning. The car seat is also pretty light, which really helps my posture when carrying it.

How did this product make your life easier?

Buying a car seat is a big deal as it is one of the most important products to get right when you have a baby, and to know that they are safe and secure in the car is crucial. This car seat fits snugly around my baby and the large sunshade helps keep the sun out of her eyes which is great! It has definitely made my life easier as my baby seems calm and happy on the move.

Would you choose this product to win?

If I had spent more time looking at car seats, I probably would have gone for one like the Britax Romer. The reason I went for a different brand, originally, was because it attached to the buggy I bought, but this one supports my baby much more and she appears more comfortable in the car. It really stands out on the market and, in my opinion, should definitely win a Mother & Baby award.

What changes would you make to this product?

It would be great if you could change reclining positions in the car seat when baby falls asleep – I have found that she ends up falling asleep quite upright, so tends to flop her head forward. For me, it would be better if my baby could lie flatter once asleep.

The Britax Romer was a good size car seat with plenty of room, even for a seven-month-old who is big for his age! He looked really comfortable and we had no issues at all with the size. This car seat gave me peace of mind that my little one would be super safe and comfortable during our car journey, which is what all parents want. It was incredibly easy to use and install, as well as remove from the car if needed.

How did this product make your life easier?

Life was easier because the Isofix base made even short journeys a breeze to get baby in and out of the car, saving so much time and energy. The seatbelt straps were easy to adjust for a growing little one and the car seat itself was light and easy to carry (even with a heavy little person on board). The sun shade was also an excellent addition!

I currently have a Maxi Cosi car seat with an Isofix base, which is a similar price and product to the Britax Romper, and I would say both do an excellent job. That said, the Britax Romper had superior amounts of padding to keep baby comfortable, so I am inclined to choose it to win a Mother & Baby award. The only downside I could find is that it is not compatible with my pushchair, but even this wouldn’t put me off buying it.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I noticed was that my little one’s head tended to fall forward when he fell asleep in the car seat, due to the fact that he wasn’t lying flat. Falling forward in this way puts a little pressure on his neck, so this did concern me a little. Perhaps Britax should make the car seat able to recline further to prevent this.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to friends and fellow mums as, not only is it comfortable for baby, it is also good quality and feels sturdy. The baby sits in a good position and looks secure and the Isofix base makes it super easy to use. As a busy mum, I found it really easy to detach the car seat from the base to carry baby into the house when asleep inside.

How did this product make your life easier?

I really like this car seat and it has definitely made my life easier. I find it easy to use and think the Isofix base is fab – it makes it so quick and easy to put baby into the car and feels safe and secure. It has a newborn inset so can be used from birth, which is a feature not all car seats come with and means the car seat can grow with your baby!

Would you choose this product to win?

I think I would choose this product above others I have tried – I really liked the position my baby was in and thought he looked comfy and safe inside. The car seat was good quality, stylish, easy to use and not a bad price. I would definitely recommend it to other parents and vote for it to win a Mother & Baby award.

What changes would you make to this product?

After racking my brains trying to answer this question, I don't think there is anything I would change!
