We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review…
How did this product make your life easier?
Steven: The MAM easy start bottles are by far the best bottles I have used. The self sterilising feature makes life so much easier. You simply wash, dry, pop in the microwave for 3mins* and all done! Sterilised super quick, meaning more time for baby less time sorting bottles! The anti colic feature has also meant that my baby has had no problems with colic since using these bottles and feeds well when using them with no fuss. The super soft teats mean that baby has taken to bottle feeding with no problems.
Kayleigh: All I can say is WOW. This product has made my life so much easier. I no longer have a big bulky bottle steriliser in my kitchen and no longer have to take the steriliser with me when my son goes to his grandparents. The bottles are so easy to use, and so easy to steralise. I love how you have the different options like using the microwave or cold water sterilise with sterilising fluid. I am now no longer spending absolutely ages doing his bottles.
Sam: The biggest difference with the mam bottles compared to others is its unique self sterilising function. It was really helpful being able to sterilise the bottle in the microwave in just a few minutes without having to use a separate sterliser (and associated time and mess!). The baby also took to the teat really well and happily drank from it – she didn’t get frustrated like she does with some other brands!
Would you recommend this to other parents?
Alice: 100% would recommend to anyone who is pregnant, who’s recently had a baby and who is thinking of having a baby. These bottles have been amazing for my daughter, I have tried her on numerous different brands and she has struggled with them all. First try with MAM bottles and she took the first time. Amazing.
Amie: The quality of the bottles is excellent, they don’t fade in colour, the air vents work extremely well to reduce colic. Easy to assemble I love how they give the reassurance of excellent hygiene you can really scrub every part of the bottle unlike standard bottles. I have used them in an electric and Milton steriliser as well as on their own. The teats don’t lose texture when in a cold water Milton steriliser unlike some teats that I’ve used previously. The bottles are brilliant for both breastmilk and formula. Having experience with a tongue tie baby, mam teats really are amazing.
Steven: The MAM easy start bottles are offered in various colours and designs. I loved the matt blue colour finish on my bottle and cute designs also printed on the bottle. The bottle with its subtle dotted grips are easy to hold for both mum and also baby. The bottles come with a handle too, meaning baby can hold on to the bottle themselves when old enough. I would recommend these bottles to anyone who wants a great quality bottle and one which baby will love too. I found these bottles really easy to use when travelling also due to the self sterilising feature. There was no need to bring extra appliances; I could just pop them in the microwave.
Would you choose this product to win?
Kayleigh: Since receiving the products to test I wasn't sure if my son would be ok with the change of bottle. I have now gone out and purchased 6 MAM bottles as he absolutely loved them. He took to them no bother at all, in fact he actually took his milk from these bottles better than the Tommee Tippee ones I was originally using. He used to play about with the milk constantly stopping but I am now having to fight with him to take a break. He likes to hold on to the bottle whilst feeding and I have found that he can do this better with these bottles. The one thing that really makes this product is you can get them for either boy or girl designs or even natural designs which is brilliant. Also the big thing for me was the self steralisation. That was a game changer being able to do it in my microwave with all the components in the bottle rather in a big steriliser. It is now so much easier to go away for a weekend or on holiday and I now don't have to take a steriliser with me.
Sam: Whilst there are lots of plus points (design, self sterilising function, teat that the baby drank from without fuss), I didn’t feel that the anti colic design worked as well as another brand of bottles we have used (Dr Browns). It also has lots of parts which, whilst not dissimilar to Dr Browns as they also have lots of parts, I could only sterilise one bottle in the UV steriliser at a time which is not really practical as a lot of parts needed to go in the top tray to properly sterilise. I can fit in 2 Dr Browns & 3 nuk bottles as a comparison. I do really like having the option of self – sterilising but more for one off’s rather than every day. So I would need to buy an alternative steriliser if I was to use them full time. I do prefer their teats though, they were a big hit with the baby!
Aime: Yes 100% these are by far the best bottles I have tried over the years. I have 7 children so I have tried many brands. The usability is brilliant and the reassurance based around hygiene is high on my list and these bottles tick all of that. I like the reassurance of their colic reduction ability. They are also pretty bottles which suit both boys and girls. They also have neutral colours. I also love the quality of their soothers. They offer plain and patterned they’re really cute and are orthodontic approved.
What changes would you make to this product?
Alice: I think personally I’d like to see some brighter coloured bottles. There’s nothing I would improve, the self sterilising or being able to sterilise in the microwave has been amazing, it’s so quick and convenient! We don’t need a steriliser sitting around. But then like I mentioned, I’d like to see some other coloured bottles but that’s just my personal opinion!
Sam: I would like to be able to use them with my UV steriliser – it’s my preferred method of sterilisation (much less faff than steaming! And the bottles come out dry. Much less mess!). Only being able to sterilise one at a time is a deal breaker, even with its innovative self sterilisation function. Perhaps this is less of an issue when only a few bottles are used a day, but when using them every 3 hrs during the day, I prefer to batch sterilise!
Steven: The only thing I would change would be the amount of components the bottle is made up of. There is a lot to take apart and wash and put together again before and after washing. This led to more time washing them up compared to other brands' bottles. I also think that the numbers (oz) printed on the side could be slightly bigger so it is easier to read when mum or dad is a bit sleep deprived!
