Would you recommend this to other mums?

Abi: I would recommend the Medela Swing Maxi to any of my friends and family who may not have a lot of time to express for their little one. With the dual breast pump, I found I was able to express twice as much milk in the same amount of time I would express on just one side. The pump was easy to set up as it was easy to put together, the instructions were clear (all on one sheet) and straight to the point. The pump unit is small and compact which is perfect for mums on the go. It is simple and easy to use.

Claire: This is an efficient double pump which is perfect for those wishing to pump large volumes of milk. It would be useful for people who are pumping following a return to work as is much quicker than a single pump. It is portable and can be used with either the mains or by batteries.

Elizabeth: I would recommend this to other mums because of how effective it is. You don’t have to spend copious amounts of time pumping. You can easily get a good yield in a short space of time. The device is simple and easy to use. Fast set up meaning no messing about and I was able to do it without referring to the instructions.

How did this product make your life easier?

Sarah: This product is fantastic for building up your supply of milk. After a few goes the milk really comes flooding. The use of a double pump is really efficient as often you do have a let down of milk from both sides at the same time, therefore no milk is wasted. The product has a bottle too which supports the baby's feeding similar to being on the breast.

Charlene: After using the Medela Double Swing pump when I was in the hospital after giving birth to my little girl, I was delighted to receive this product as I rate it highly. It makes life easier as a mum as it is designed to allow you to pump a lot more quickly and efficiently. Time is very precious when you have a demanding little one to take care of. As it is a double pump it really does halve the time it takes to pump which is great. It is surprisingly quiet when running which is good.

Mmasifon: A double action breast pump means faster milk collection which is great as it is time-saving. It can be used attached to mains or via battery making handy on the go. It is fairly easy to use but a little cumbersome holding both at once. It comes with two bottles and a teat so can try it out straight away once sterilised. I would need more kit if I needed to freeze the breast milk.

Would you choose this product to win?

Naushaba: It should win because it is quick, mobile and comfortable to use. The swing maxi claims to produce 18% more milk than other electric pumps, although I cannot verify that claim, it does allow me to produce more milk quicker than other electric pumps that I have used. It is brilliant if you need to express in a hurry especially in the early days when you have little time for yourself. This quality is significant but there are other pumps on the market that have other better features. For example, an electrical display with a timer would be helpful.

Abi: I would pick the Medela Swing Maxi Breast pump as one of best breast pumps I have had due to the ease of use. It is well designed and easy to use! The product broke down into sections making it really easy to clean. The controls are simple and the pump worked very well for me. The bottle teat was also very successful with my newborn and he took to it straight away.

Claire: Yes, I would choose this pump as I am keen to pump a large volume of milk in a short amount of time. I also own a single pump from the same brand and whilst I am pleased with that product, the maxi swing is certainly more efficient. I am currently donating milk to our national milk bank and so the ability to generate a reasonable amount of milk regularly is a great asset. If I were simply expressing every so often I wouldn’t necessarily spend the money on this more expensive purchase but for regular users, I would recommend.

What changes would you make to this product?

Sarah: I would suggest making the breast shield softer - maybe use of silicone on the edge to provide more comfort to the skin. The current shield design is not uncomfortable for me but could be for other women depending on the shape and size of breasts.

Charlene: The Swing Maxi electric breast pump really does have the feel of being a well made, professional and sturdy product. The bottles which attach to the pump are quite flimsy and bog-standard compared to its rivals. This isn’t a major issue but ergonomically I personally like a bottle that feels “well made”. There is also no way of using this product discreetly, however, I am impressed that it is relatively quiet to use as opposed to some of its rivals.

Mmasifon: I found using it quite noisy. it could come with a bra support to make its use handsfree, can be cumbersome trying to hold it in place. It is quite an expensive piece of kit so a cheaper price would be good if possible. I do like the product as it is very effective and time efficient. Comfortable to use as you can adjust the strength of suction.
