My Expert Midwife No Harm Nipple Balm at a glance

We love the My Expert Midwife No Harm Nipple Balm. A lovely thick consistency, the balm soaks in easily and heals sore skin without needing to spend ages rubbing it in. The smell is beautiful and the pump bottle is handy. The balm is 100% natural so doesn’t need to be wiped off before feeding – a huge plus.

My Expert Midwife No Harm Nipple Balm

Here’s what our parents thought, read their reviews here...

How did this product make your life easier?

Celia: The pump bottle of the no harm nipple balm was so handy, especially on those days when two hands was not an option. Prevention of dry cracked nipples is very important at the beginning of your breast feeding journey therefore using the balm throughout the day made it easier to avoid getting to the point where I was sore.

Miray: I purchased this before the arrival of my second child after a horrendous experience breastfeeding with my first. I didn't hold out much hope for it if I'm honest, I was cracked in half and bleeding and crying with every feed 6 days in and had all but given up after just a couple of weeks! This time around with No harm nipple balm I've actually managed to get to nearly 2 weeks so far and not a crack or even a sore bit in sight. The balm is a much better consistency than the previous one I used with my first child and generally much nicer to apply and use. Though I'm still early in my breastfeeding journey with my second child I feel like I actually have a chance to succeed this time around.

Rajika: No Harm Nipple Balm is a great product. It is designed to soothe and protect sore and cracked nipples when breastfeeding. It has a lovely texture compared to a popular lanolin cream, it isn’t sticky and went on easily and smoothly. It’s nice it can be used to help other areas of dry skin and dry lips.

Would you recommend this product to other parents?

Jen: If you are looking for fast and effective relief for sore nipples this is ideal - easy to use, mess free and doesn’t need to be washed off between feeds. This product helped me continue with my breastfeeding journey. As an added bonus, it can also soothe nappy rash and even be used as a lip balm (in emergencies given the higher price).

Hannah: As a breastfeeding peer support worker I have reccomended this to all my new mums! It's small, light, easy to pop in your baby bag and handbag (I actually bought two more) and no matter what temperature its perfect consistency means it is soothing.

Swati: I love the ease with which the product goes on. It is not sticky and glides on your skin. It absorbs well and heals sore, bruised and cracked nipples. It can also be used on dry skin. The design of the bottle in stylish and the pump works well in dispensing the product - it's so easy to use you can use it with one hand.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Danielle: I am converted to My Expert Midwife nipple balm now, I can’t imagine ever going back to using any other nipple balms I had previously tried. It has really helped me to eliminate sore nipples after those long evening cluster feeds. I am only sorry I hadn't tried it sooner, especially at the start of my breastfeeding journey.

Claire: Yes I would. They have identified the main issues with other nipple creams on the market i.e that they are thick and hard to apply and have addressed both of these issues using natural products. Also the issue that other products are difficult to get out of tubes has been addressed in the pump action bottle. The only downside is that it is a more expensive compared to other nipple creams, however the age old saying 'you get what you pay for' stands true with this product.

Laura: I've tried two other nipple balms previously. These other products were both in squeezy tubes that became sticky after a few uses. The pump action of this product makes this cleaner to use. It also means I can dispense it one handed, if needed. However, it is more expensive. I think it is worth the extra cost though.

What changes would you make to this product?

Rajika: It is very expensive, retailing at £16.50 but actually I do think it’s worth this cost. It really does seem to do what it claims and anything that keeps someone breastfeeding is a big bonus. A little bit of the product seems to go a long way and actually despite the cost I think this would last a while.

Celia: The product is a little runny and so when my nipples were sore in the beginning of my breastfeeding journey it didn't create the barrier to the air in quite the same way as other products. It worked well as preventive care and for overnight dry nipple relief. A thicker consistency might help to give that instant relief especially mid feed.

Hannah: I can't think of anything I would change actually. Maybe there was something I couldn't find out and that's if it was safe for baby to nurse if the cream was still on my nipples? I assumed it was because of the ingredients but maybe for more nervous new mums that would be reassuring. I love everything about it!
