Nuby Ultimate Digital Breast Pump

At a glance:

The timer feature on this Nuby breast pump is super handy when it comes to timing how long you’ve been expressing. Our panel of mum testers love the range of settings available as it made the experience more personal, allowing you to choose your own speed and the strength of suction. The silicone is soft and comfortable and there’s a super long lead, meaning you don’t have to fix yourself next to a plug. Cleaning can be time consuming as there’s a number of different parts to disassemble.

What they say:

“This is a unique pump that encourages milk let down and mimics baby’s feeding action by comfortably drawing from the breast, instead of squeezing the nipple (like conventional pumps). It has both stimulation and expression modes for expressing more milk, in less time (compared to Nûby’s standard digital breast pump); with 1-9 speed selection levels for ultimate comfort. The skin soft-silicone cup has a three phased action (massage, draw and collect) to encourage milk flow. It is the ONLY pump with touch screen technology, for ultimate control and comfort. Ideal for everyday expression at home (with mains adaptor) and on the move (with rechargeable Li-ion battery that lasts for up to 3 hours).”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product as it's easy to use, it’s a lovely design and you can transport it wherever you’re going. Once fully charged you can take it out without it being plugged in. The silicone horn is so soft and comfortable. It's also really handy having the digital touch screen where it tells you how many minutes you've been pumping for so you’re not clock watching.

How did this product make your life easier?

This breast pump is so easy to use, quick to pump when you’re in a rush and it is so handy as it’s portable. I managed to pump a lot of milk and it was very efficient. It isn't as loud as some pumps which makes it very discreet and it’s not too big and bulky to store whilst not in use, it is designed very well. There's plenty of settings to choose from and there's also a stimulation setting to help encourage milk, which is brilliant especially when your milk supply settles down a bit.

Would you choose this product to win?

I definitely think this product is good value for money and worth spending for a decent pump. I would choose this pump over others as I love the digital display on it and all of the different settings. The suction also isn't as hard as some pumps so it isn't sore at all while or after pumping. Overall this is a brilliant product.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about the pump would be for the silicone horn to be a little bit bigger as it's quite small compared to other breast pumps I have used so I don't think it will suit everyone.  It might not be in everyone's price range but in my opinion it is worth every penny!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to any fellow mums. It is very easy to assemble and use and it did not have as many parts as other breast pumps I have used. This makes pumping more practical but also makes cleaning and sterilising a lot easier. Its comfort also makes it more favourable than other breast pumps. I also liked the 30 minute timer because this is roughly how long I usually pump for. It is also very quiet compared to other pumps and I will be recommending this pump when I can.

How did this product make your life easier?

This has been my favourite breast pump so far and I have used a few. When I received it, it was really easy to assemble and really straight forward to use. I can pump around 6oz in the 30 minute timer where I could only pump around 2oz in other pumps I have used. It has made expressing very easy and also very comfortable as you can find the right suction which works for you.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would definitely choose this breast pump as a winner. Its practicality makes it so much more appealing. The fact that it doesn't have as many pieces as other pumps is great as this saves time when assembling and washing. I only use this pump occasionally but I definitely think it could be used for those who express more often. The price is also more appealing compared to other branded breast pumps.

What changes would you make to this product?

I honestly think this product ticks all the boxes for those looking to buy an electric breast pump. I honestly cannot think of anything that would make this pump any better! If I had to pick something, then maybe two different flanges would be nice, but the one that came with the pump fitted me perfectly. A great pump – thanks Nuby!

I'd recommend this product for comfort as the breast attachment is really nicely designed to be gentle but efficient too. I'd also recommend it based on its portability as compared to other pumps it's much smaller. A particularly great feature is the rechargeable battery - this is a real selling point of the pump as it really makes it versatile in its use!

How did this product make your life easier?

This breast pump is really efficient at pumping milk. I've found it far more comfortable to use than the hand pump and it's particularly good as it's small and portable. I'll definitely be taking this away on holiday with me and won't be worrying about it taking up space in my bag. I've found I can do other things at the same time as pumping as I'm able to walk round using the product which I wouldn't have expected to be able to. I have to say I'm very impressed!

Would you choose this product to win?

I have actually been using an electronic breast pump made by another company. Having now received this one I do now prefer this! The main reason for this is the size difference. The other one takes up a lot of space in my room whereas this one can be tucked away in a drawer when I'm not using it. For this reason I think it could be a winner! I haven't used many brands of breast pumps, but I do think this one is cleverly designed to be portable.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only downside to this breast pump in comparison to the other I am using is the number of components which make it up and the fact it does take a little time to take it apart to clean and sterilise (which I do after every use). The only other thing is when the bottle is only partially full it's quite unstable - perhaps a weighted base would hold it more steadily? On the whole though the positives far outweigh the negatives!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product as it was very easy to use. I found the pump to be quiet too, which is very good for when you want to pump discreetly. The silicon sleeve for the plastic horn felt very comfortable and I found the bottle easy to hold whilst I was pumping as it is an ergonomic shape and fits my hand nicely. Some bottles can be top heavy with the horn part still attached, but this bottle was very stable when I set it aside, after I had finished expressing.

How did this product make your life easier?

I love the fact that the display unit is a rechargeable mobile unit and I don't have to pay out for extra batteries. I found the display panel very user friendly, even when battling sleep deprivation! Also the controls were very easy to adjust the suction for efficient, comfortable pumping. I liked the minutes display on the panel too, as I knew how long I had been pumping and how much longer I had left to go.

Would you choose this product to win?

I really liked this product, however I did find that it had quite a few components to assemble and sterilise, but after the first use I found this easier to clean and put together. I think that I would use this pump at home more than taking it into work with me, as I would have to find a clean and sterile way of transporting all the bits.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only change I would like is if the manufacture could provide a little storage bag with the product to make transportation a little easier. Overall, I was very impressed with this product and I found that my bottle fussy little one took her feed from this bottle very well too! I would definitely recommend this product to my family and friends.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would highly recommend this breast pump as it is very user friendly and efficient. It has a really stylish and modern looking touch screen panel, which is easy to use and it is small so doesn't take up too much space. I like the fact the breast shell is soft and one size fits all, unlike some other pumps which come with so many parts. The stimulation and expression modes both felt comfortable and stayed pain-free until I had finished expressing. One great feature for me is that the power cable is quite long as I have another pump where the cord is far too short and I cannot sit comfortably. Also you can charge the panel beforehand so that it can be used without the cable which is great, especially at night or if travelling. I feel this pump is safe for my baby as it is BPA free which is a concern to many mums these days.

How did this product make your life easier?

This Nuby breast pump makes my life easier as a mum because it collects a large amount of milk in a shorter time. I can get around 90-100ml of milk in around 10-15 minutes which is much quicker than other pumps. It was quite easy to set up initially with not too many separate parts to assemble and easy to follow instructions. It has a 30 minute timer which counts down so that you can keep track of how long you have been expressing which is useful.

Would you choose this product to win?

This product is quick to use and means I can express milk for my nine-week-old while she has a nap and I can sit next to her as it’s not too noisy. The settings can be adjusted in order to find one that is comfortable, I found even on the low settings it worked well. The bottle stand and dust cap are useful as it means I can wash and sterilise the parts in the evening and then keep it by my bed to use in the night. The control panel looks very hi-tech and it’s the nicest looking pump I have seen and can be controlled with one hand. The fact it is rechargeable and portable is a big factor for me!

What changes would you make to this product?

The breast pump comes with a Nuby bottle which unfortunately my baby did not take to as she is used to a different brand of bottle and my bottles do not attach to the pump. It only means an extra step of transferring the milk into another bottle after pumping so is not a big issue, however perhaps a few more attachments would be nice so that other bottles could be fitted.
