Trying to find the perfect stroller can be tricky, especially when you're looking for one that won't take up much room in your house or car.
And with all the different designs there seem to be a hundred different ways to collapse a pushchair too, and it's often a challenge learning how to do it. We all know the struggle when you're trying to get your pushchair into the car while juggling a child, handbag, shopping, and everything else - and we've all given fellow parents a knowing nod when we see someone else having the same experience in the car park.
That's where umbrella strollers come in handy, as they're easy to collapse and pop back open, without having five different locking clips or twists to worry about.
An umbrella stroller is the perfect solution to any storage problem. Not only are they as easy to collapse like an umbrella, but they also save a lot of space in the car - and in the home.
Check out our pick of umbrella strollers, some of which have made it into our Mother&Baby Awards for best lightweight buggy or strollers.

Cosatto Supa 3 Stroller
This multi-use stroller can be used from birth and has a whole host of fun, colourful design to choose from. Its compact fold means it can also easily fit into small cars and can support up to 25kg so your toddler can use it for longer. With UPF100+ extendable ventilated hood, rain cover, and reversible fleece-lined footmuff, this buggy is ready for any weather.
Review: "Great pram, easy to fold, fits in the back of my fiesta so pretty compact. I bought it for my 8-month-old because it will easily last her until she’s out of a pram. Originally thought about going for a cheaper pram but this comes with the footmuff, cup holder and rain cover which bought separately on top of the cost of a cheaper pram worked out the same. Plus the pattern is lovely! The liner had already been through the wash and has come out as good as new. Some milk was spilt in the hood but this was easy to clean off with a damp cloth so think it will keep in good condition for a while! I like the leather style handles as previous prams had foam handles which have had chunks break off when getting in and out of the car."
Safety 1st Crazy Peps
A vibrant pushchair that your little one will adore. It's lightweight, folds easily, and even has swivelling front wheels as well for easy manoeuvring. Weighing just 4.47kg, it's suitable for those aged 6 months to 15kg and has a five-point harness.
Review: "Compact and light so you can hold baby in one arm and buggy in other. When folded you need to watch the V-shaped bar for the brakes as it sticks out. The canopy could have enveloped the buggy more to shield the sun but we hang a scarf over and that helps. There is no padding for the seat but as it's cloth it's fine. Our baby likes this buggy more than our other one which is a bugaboo and cost 20 times as much. I like this one too and use it more not just when travelling!"
Red Kite Baby Push Me
With a shopping basket and rain cover, the stroller boasts deep padded seats to allow for slightly older babies too. Its collapsable frame also makes it easier for transportation and storage.
Review: "I bought this to use for my granddaughter when she comes around and we want to go to the park. At 8 months old she loves it. It tilts back if she sleeps and I put a pair of cosy toes in it to keep her warm. I have tried to use these new modern pushchairs and thrown them to the charity shop because they are not easy for us old people to use. This goes up and down so easy, is sturdy and good enough to keep in the back of the car for when we pop out. Great value and a great little pushchair."
Silver Cross Pop Stroller
This stylish pushchair is light and compact, making it quick and easy to fold. It also features a carry handle for ease. It's suitable from birth up to toddler age and adjusts as your little one grows.
Tested by Zoe Lester, 24, mum to Isla, six months. She says: "I love this! Beautiful and modern, it’s the perfect lightweight stroller. Easy to carry and push, it copes with a range of surfaces and steers well one-handed. The seat has lots of room for growth. The handle height isn’t adjustable, but I found it very comfortable. I like the deep basket too and managed to squeeze about three-days worth of groceries in there."
Silver Cross Reflex Stroller
Available in three different designs, this pram has an ergonomic backrest that creates a natural cradling position for your baby which helps protect their back and spine. It's easy to convert the stroller into a compact fold, making it much easier to carry.
It was Shortlisted in the 2016 M&B Awards Best Lightweight Buggy or Stroller category.
Tested by mum Alex Pearce for the M&B Awards 2016: "The Silver Cross Reflex isn't just a standard stroller, the brand has gone the extra mile to give you a high quality, stylish product. There are a huge number of colours to choose from (we had yellow and love it). The chassis feels strong and sturdy compared to cheaper strollers I've used. It folds pretty well, although I'm not a fan of the umbrella fold in general.
"I found this pram really easy to push, it was light, but not flimsy. My son enjoyed sitting in this pram as he was very upright, giving him room to look around. As a toddler, he gets annoyed if he is laid back too much unless he's sleeping."
Joie Nitro Stroller
Made from 100 per cent premium quality materials, this stroller has been made to last and will be your baby's travel companion from birth to 15kg (approx. 4 years). It has five recline positions so your baby can sleep on the move and a five-point SoftTouch harness that's gentle on baby's skin. The compact design makes folding easy, and it's easy to pop back up, making every stroll a breeze!
Review: "So happy with the stroller, it’s my favourite colour also really easy to put up and down and very light handling. Great for wherever you go. Really cheap for what it is! So happy with it!"
Zeta Citi Stroller
This vibrant stroller is incredibly lightweight, which is useful when carrying once folded. It also has a 5-point security harness for your little one's safety.
Mums have found that this stroller is easy to assemble and comes with a handy pocket on the back for dropping in keys, toys, or snacks when out on walks. It doesn't come with a pram rain cover, but these can be bought easily online for a little extra.
Review: "Bought this buggy to take to Florida as the reviews were good and it lived up to everything good. I expected to leave it behind when we were finished with it but my daughter-in-law loved it and took it home and has used it plenty of times since."
Ickle Bubba Discovery Max Stroller
Suitable for children from 6 months to 4 years, the Ickle Bubba Discovery Max Stroller is fitted with a five-point safety harness and has lockable rear wheels too for increased safety. We love the luxurious look and feel of this stroller with the soft quilted seat liner, footmuff, and rain cover that'll keep your little one warm and dry. It folds super compact, weighing only 7kg for easy carrying, and even has a carry strap and leather shoulder pad included.
Review: "Had this now about 2 months and find it really easy to use. Only request would be for the handles to be adjustable so easier for taller people but it's a good handy buggy for what I wanted. We have the V4 system as well and had this from the birth of our little girl so knew the brand. It's a really good alternative to the higher end brands with the same options of easy one-hand fold, one-hand recline, cup holder and cosy toes but at a much more reasonable price."
