We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review...

How did this product make your life easier?

Poonam: Sterilising is a huge part of my day-to-day life as a busy mum of two under 2. Having used different types of sterilisers in the past, from steam to microwave, to cold sterilising, my biggest issue continued to be that the items were always wet! And you cannot dry them because then it would no longer be sterile. This is where the Tommee Tippie UV steriliser and dryer comes into play. Not only does it sterilse but it dries and stores the bottles, dummies, teethers etc and there is no faffing with measuring the correct amount of water. It is as simple as rinse, place, press a button and let the gadget do its job.

Sarah: This product really helps keep on top of sterilising the bottles. My husband would often give the bottle before bed and found preparing the bottle and sterilising when the baby was hungry really stressful. However because the steriliser keeps the bottles sterile, these can be prepared in advance. We found that it helps prepare the bottles quicker when your baby is hungry.

Hollie: It saves me time because I previously used a steam steriliser and with this one there's no need to add water or descale the steriliser which I needed to do really often because the water is hard where I live. I can now sterilise all of my breast pump parts with this product because the UV doesn't damage the materials unlike my previous steam steriliser. There's also no risk of burning myself with hot water or steam with UV which I did plenty of times with a steam steriliser when opening it too soon.

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Laura: Knowing that the bottles are sterilised, killing such a high percentage of bacteria, is a big plus and makes me feel confident in using the steriliser. I like the fact that the steriliser beeps when the cycle is complete - alerting you to the fact that the bottles are ready to use, however the 35 minutes seems like a long cycle compared to other options on the market. One thing that I struggled with was to fit all six bottles in at once, I think that if this was improved then I would be more likely to recommend it to others.

Leanne: Yes. Love the design, its various functions and how easy it is to use.

Christine: I would definitely recommend this product to my other mum friends and colleagues. The product looks good sitting on your kitchen worktop, it's easy to use and makes life very easy knowing you’ve always got a clean sterilised bottle in there ready to go. It would also be easy to explain to someone else to use if you had grandparents/babysitters.

Would you choose the Tommee Tippee Ultra above all others on the market?

Maria: For me, the size and the removable shelves are a great feature. As a mum who combi-feeds, I have plenty of bottles and breastmilk expressing equipment which need sterilising often multiple times a day. Whilst the unit can look large on your counter, the good news is that it’s a stylish design and crucially large enough to ensure you can sterilise multiple bottles and expressing equipment at once. From my research, other units appear to be smaller or don’t offer the same level of flexibility offered by the shelves allowing you to maximise the space available. I definitely think this product is a winner, life would be much harder without it.

Poonam: Definitely. I think Tommee Tippee in general is the leading brand when it comes to baby items. But this time I feel they have really listened and understood issues with sterilising and made a product which ticks all of the boxes. They have created a product which not only looks aesthetically pleasing on your counter top but does the job to a very high standard and takes away all the negative aspects/problems associated with steam sterilising.

Sarah: Comparing this to a microwave steriliser, the UV steriliser is by far the easier option and less hassle, making life as a mum that bit easier. However, although stylish the steriliser is large and therefore in a small kitchen like ours, it took a large amount of kitchen space, particularly as it had to be kept 10cm from the wall. I would compare it to a microwave on your workspace. Additionally it is not transportable for staying at family/holiday. So although the preferred option for the majority of the time, we additionally needed a option for when staying away from home.

What changes would you make to this product?

Hollie: I would compromise on the compact design for a larger unit so that I could use it less often and save more time. I can fit 6 bottles in it but if I could fit 8 or 9 in, I'd only need to sterilise them once a day or less. I was initially concerned that the 60 minute cycle would be too long but it hasn't actually been an issue because I put it on when I go to bed.

Laura: I would change the size of the product, I think that the product could look as good but be smaller and make the bottles fit in more comfortably. There is a definite knack to putting the bottles in, this could be done in the same way as a steam steriliser where it has sections for each bottle to sit in. I also think an additional benefit would be if you could combine the perfect prep machine into the model somehow but I am not sure this is possible.

Siobhan: If I had to pick one thing, it would probably be the speed in which it sterilises bottles as we all know we can get caught out at times and even if you don't use the drier function, the shortest sterilising option is 35 minutes which just doesn't work with babies!
