Testing the Vital Baby NURTURE advanced pro UV steriliser and dryer

We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review...

How did the Vital Baby NURTURE advanced pro UV steriliser and dryer make your life easier?

Alex: It’s great to have something that easily sterilises the bottles. It’s handy and quick and I love the fact you can sterilise dry then don’t need to wash off any sterilising fluid. It a nice design too so saves you having to have an ugly bowl of water on your counter top when you’re sterilising with fluid.

Sophie: For parents looking for a UV steriliser in particular then I would recommend this product. It looks stylish and definitely is more in keeping with other appliances that you would have out on work surfaces as other steam sterilisers are bulky and an eyesore. At first use, I thought it was small and would only be able to fit a few bottles in but after getting used to it, we were able to better use the internal space and fit 5 bottles in which gave a days use. The auto cycle function which dried and sterilised in 29 minutes was really useful as you could just put it on and leave it the night before. However, it was really useful to be able to just sterilise using the 7 minute function. Overall, I would encourage other parents to consider a UV steriliser, especially this one, as before using it I wouldn’t have known it was an available product.

Alexandra: It's a great steriliser as it doesn't get steamy or too hot. This is great for a number of reasons - you don't have to wait for the bottles to cool before you have to access them, which is a bonus whee you are busy or forget to do bottles and you need to dash off - also the lack of steam is good for the room it is in too and keeps the atmosphere nicer and the paint work of the room.

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Jessica: I would recommend this product as it is really easy to use and gives you peace of mind that it does exactly what it says. It comes in a lovely modern design and a choice of 2 colours (black or white) and doesn't take up too much space either. You can also use it to sterilise other things like toys. Most of all I would recommend it as you can use the bottles straight away as they are cool enough to touch.

Louise: I would recommend this product because it has multiple functions. It has large storage for multiple bottles, dummies, breast feeding parts and toys. It gives you piece of mind that you can clean multiple items at the same time. I like the fact there is no need for water and descaling, so less things for new mum to do, as we have enough on our plates.

Jodie: The Vital Baby NURTURE UV steriliser is compact and visually appealing. It comes with a very easy to understand manual/user guide which demonstrates step by step how each cycle works, enabling busy mums to select the appropriate sterilising cycle for them. The various cycles are very efficient and there is a clear timer displayed to enable planning and preparation. Items are dry following sterilisation which is excellent and easy to store/transport these items without excess water causing issues as it does with regular steam sterilisers. You can use the product to sterilise non baby products including phones/keys etc to ensure the highest levels of hygiene. Automatic sterilising cycles ensure high levels of hygiene are maintained as well as decreasing pressure on mums to manually complete a sterilising cycle each day. Relatively small and compact system making it much easier to transport than other branded sterilisers trialled previously.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Alexandra: I think the product is very good, although I think compared to a lot of sterilisers it's very expensive. I have bought two other sterilisers and they are around £50, although you do spend time descaling etc which I assume you wouldn't do with this product, it's a lot of a price difference.

Jessica: I think the Vital Baby NURTURE is a good product to get, especially for new parents who aren't sure which steriliser to purchase, this is excellent for sterilising and drying and it beeps when it finishes a cycle so you don't need to worry about when it's finished. There is a countdown timer too but the beep is another reassurance if you're busy with something else.

Sophie: The product has been useful and does look the part, however, based on the price I don’t know if I could justify spending that much on a steriliser. Particularly having breastfed previously and only realistically sterilising up until 12 months old. Having used this steriliser, a steam steriliser, microwave bags and the boiling bottles method, I wouldn’t say that this steriliser makes life that much easier to be worth choosing it over any other method. The redeeming quality about this steriliser is that you could use it beyond 12 months/baby bottles for other items such as phones, keys and makeup brushes but I’m not sure how often I would use it for that purpose.

What changes would you make to the Vital Baby NURTURE advanced pro UV steriliser and dryer?

Louise: I would change the fact that the top shelf was slightly bigger. I understand why it is the size it is as it allows for large items to fit into the bottom of the unit with ease. But that is the only thing I would change. I would not change anything else about the Vital Baby NURTURE as it works really well for me and my family. It provides us with peace of mind that items can be sterilised quickly.

Alex: It's size. It would be handy to fit more bottles in it. I’m doing combi feeding so don’t use that many bottles but if you were exclusively bottle feeding you would have to do a few loads for a couple of days worth of bottles. It’s still very quick so it’s not that much of a hassle having to run it a few times but seeing as the product is designed for efficient use it would be better to fit in more bottles. However, if it was much bigger it would take up way too much room on the counter so I suppose you have to compromise somewhere.

Jodie: To improve the Vital Baby NURTURE, it would be ideal to have more space available within the main steriliser. At times, I would be required to complete two separate sterilisation cycles as I was unable to fit the required number of bottles in the steriliser at one time. As the system and its cycles are very efficient, this wasn’t the greatest issue, however it would be ideal if there was more space to reduce the number of cycles used per day from two to one.
