Science of Skin develops scientifically proven, solution-focused skincare, taking the very best from science and nature.

Specifically designed for new mums, the Science of Skin range includes Stretch Mark Defence, and Solution for Stretch Marks.

If you’ve had a c-section, there’s Solution for Scars, a scar treatment to reduce the appearance of scars. The Solution for Scars formula contains a naturally active green tea extract that is said to shrink some scars by 40%.

Tested by Kim Robertson-Hunt, mum to Henry (four) and expecting her second son. She said:

I absolutely love these products and only wish I had them first time round.

I don’t have any new stretch marks in this pregnancy and I’m sure that’s down to using Solution for Stretch Marks throughout this pregnancy. It’s helped my old stretch marks fade and is a lovely texture and consistency.

I had a slight panic when I came to the end of the bottle and had to get some more knowing I’d be without for a few days. I used this alongside Stretch Mark Defence - one in the morning and one at night.

Solution for Stretch Marks has the perfect scent and consistency and doesn’t feel too thick or runny on your skin, it makes it feel incredibly nourished.

Stretch Mark Defence comes in a really handy spray bottle and leaves a lovely light coating which then sinks into your skin. For an aerosol-type can it also reassuringly doesn’t smell toxic so you’re happy to spray this every day.

I’ve got Solution for Scars lined up ready for after my c-section and if the other two products are anything to go by I’ll be recommending them as well.

Science of Skin would now be my recommended ‘go to’ brand to use to nourish your skin pre and post pregnancy.

Tested by mum Lauren Withers for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I had been very dubious about using the Science of Skin stretchmark soloution as I’d read a lot of online articles about stretchmark prevention, disproving lotions having any real affect- but the results have been undeniable. I saw a noticeable difference in my skin from the very first use. I had tried several other products on the market to PREVENT new stretchmarks from appearing during my pregnancy and whilst I didnt get any new stretchmarks I didn’t feel like they were really anything more than a middle of the range body lotion marketed to pregnant women as stretchmark prevention rather than an actual treatment.

How did this product make your life easier?

SOS stretchmark soloution not only made my skin feel less tight and itchy, it prevented me getting any stretchmarks through my entire third trimester AND what’s even better is the old silvery stretchmarks I had on my stomach from rapid weight gain in my early 20s were fading and almost invisible within 2 weeks of repeated application, which is an absoloute miracle to me. I’ve always been very self conscious about my stomach even after I lost the weight I had put on, but found after using this product I was exposing my stomach and showing off my bump to people all the time.

Would you choose this product to win?

Definitely! I felt like I’d finally found a product that did what it said on the label rather than an everyday body lotion dressed up as miracle cure. I had also found other stretchmark products to be very heavy, claggy and overly greasy. Oils had been difficult to apply and messy, even marking my clothes. Lotions had either not been very easily absorbed and left a residue on my skin, or had been watery and weak. Body butters had been thick and difficult to apply evenly. But the SOS stretchmark solution absorbed quickly and easily and whilst light in texture felt as though it had substance.

What changes would you make to this product?

The fragrance of this product left a little to be desired in my opinion. Whilst I could see the benefits of it being an unfragranced product and the ingredients and results being the main selling point, to me the product had a distinct synthetic "unfragranced smell", and whilst not overpowering or offensive in any way I did have friends comment shortly after I had applied it that it smelled odd - someone even referred to it as a "raw pastry smell". It isn’t something that would deter me from buying more in the future however it would be a nice bonus if it smelled a little more elegant.

Tested by mum Lynsey Orme for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums. I liked the cream, I liked its appearance, it was not too greasy like other similar products can be. It also smelled nice. When I applied the cream it felt like my skin was really moisturised and also it felt like it soothed my stretching skin as well. Definitely recommend it.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes my life easier as a mum to two boys already and another one on the way. It is quick and easy to apply, rubs in really quickly unlike some of the oils that I have been using, which tend to leave your skin feeling wet for quite some time after applying. This is a great benefit when time is short!

Would you choose this product to win?

I liked this product, it's easy to apply and dries quickly compared to other products I have used and leaves your skin feeling nice.. It is though quite expensive and I'm not sure whether I could afford this relative luxury with three children. It does though feel like a luxury product when applying so if I could treat myself then I would do with this product.

What changes would you make to this product?

Even though it was easy to dispense the cream from the bottle a couple of times it did drip on to the floor and also when I have gone back to use it again I found dried cream on the side of the bottle. So I would change the dispenser on the bottle so that it would eliminate this problem and stop it from dripping.
