At a glance:

A great product from a trusted brand, we love that this top to toe baby bath means you only need one product in your bathroom. Our panel of mum testers thought it was reasonably priced and good value for money.

What they say:

“We understand that baby’s skin is more delicate than adult’s: it is not fully developed which can leave it vulnerable to irritations. That’s why our TOP-TO-TOE® Baby Bath is designed to gently cleanse baby’s sensitive skin and hair. With carefully selected ingredients, it is so mild and gentle it is suitable for the first bath. In fact, a recent independent clinical trial has proven that TOP-TO-TOE® Baby Bath is as safe to use as water alone, from the very first day.”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I like the fact that this baby bath can be used from newborn and that it claims to be very mild - I feel that this is very important for young babies. It is also handy that it specifies that it can be used to wash babies hair, meaning that a separate shampoo does not have to be bought. I wouldn't recommend this product to people that use other Johnson's products.

How did this product make your life easier?

The bottle is large (500ml) and so will last for quite a while. This also makes it quite good value for money. I like the pump action lid, making it really quick and easy to use - it can be used with one hand which is crucial when bathing a little one! The colours of the bottle are quite neutral, meaning it blends in well to my bathroom.

Would you choose this product to win?

I personally would not choose to buy any Johnson's products as I prefer to use organic products on my baby. I like any products I use for her to contain only natural ingredients and so this would not be suitable unfortunately. Although I believe that Johnsons has been a trusted brand for many years, I have heard some recent questions over the suitability of their products for babies which makes me a bit wary.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would make the ingredients more organic and natural. This is the most important thing that I consider when purchasing any product that will be used on my baby, as her skin is so delicate. I would like to believe that if Johnsons claim that this product is suitable on newborn skin that this has been proven and is true but I would be very hesitant to use it on a newborn.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product because I found it easy to use with no waste with packaging and I liked the smell and having a pump to use. The design is basic but for me the ease of the product and the smell is good so I would recommend it.

How did this product make your life easier?

This item is very useful as it has a pump action so only one hand needed which is a bonus. This helped me save time. so that for me is making it easier it's nice a sturdy so don't need to support the bottle in any way either makes bath time easy and safe that's all that matters

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes I would choose this product above the others and would hope it wins, it deserves to. The design would be the only thing that lets it down as it's significantly different to other brands - quite boring. That doesn’t bother me personally but may bother other mums.

What changes would you make to this product?

More bright colours on the packaging. Apart from that I can't think of anything.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums because it's easy to use and makes bath time much easier when on your own. The mild formula is great for my baby's skin, my first son had very sensitive skin and couldn't use Johnson’s, so I was worried about trying it with my second, however it has been fantastic for his skin, it has helped keep it soft.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product has a handy pump dispenser, so it makes washing baby much easier on your own when you only have one hand free. I have found bath time much easier and less stressful since using this product. Before I received this product I had another brand of baby wash which did not have a pump dispenser and it was very difficult to bath baby alone.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes for my second child I will most definitely be buying this product and continuing to use it with him. It has made such a difference to his skin since I have been using it. It smells good and you can tell it's improved his newborn skin.

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think there is anything that needs changing with this product. It comes with a handy pump dispenser and it smells very nice. Also it's handy because you can use it as a top to toe wash from birth because of how mild and gentle it is. Than as baby grows and is ready for baths you can pump it into the running water for bath time.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The bottle is very easy to use with the pump action and the wash itself produces a good lather and seems very mild. My baby's skin seemed very soft after using it, so it doesn't dry the skin out like some products which is especially important for a new born.  I like the fact that it can be used on day one.

How did this product make your life easier?

The pump action is very practical and makes life easier as you are not using two hands to take a lid off, meaning you can keep baby safely supported whilst getting the wash. It appears to be very mild as baby doesn't cry if any goes in their eyes and it is very useful that you can use it on their head as well, cutting out the need for a separate shampoo as well.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product.  I trust the brand and like the fact that it can be used right from day one and that it is suitable for hair as well as skin. It does seem very mild and I like the bottle it comes in with a pump dispenser rather than some kind of lid.  It is good value as there is a lot in the bottle for the price charged.

What changes would you make to this product?

If it were possible I would like a mild fragrance. Johnsons baby shampoo does have a fragrance so it must be possible to reach a compromise on this.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would highly recommend this to other mums! We have so much to do in a day, so many products to wash, sterilise, carry around with us. I'm all for making life a bit easier where I can and Johnsons Top-To-Toe Baby Bath helps me to accomplish this by making it easy to dispense (one hand pump), being suitable from birth (no need for lots of products for different aged infants), easy to "lock" the dispenser for travel... and to top it all off, it does exactly as it should and it cleans children up a treat! It also smells really lovely. Not overpowering, just a pleasant "baby smell". I've also been using this every bathtime for the past three weeks on my newborn and my toddler and neither one has had any sort of skin reaction to it (and my toddler has sensitive skin) - so it definitely is gentle on their skin.

How did this product make your life easier?

Johnsons Top-To-Toe Baby Bath makes life soooo much easier as a mum. I'm not fiddling around with different bottles of product whilst trying to maintain a firm grip on my slippery infant. I can use this one product all over and get a nice, clean, lightly fragranced baby without the normal faff and stress that comes with gathering all of the bath supplies. The dispenser means that I can grip the bottle using one hand which is vital when you need to hold baby. Prior to this I needed my partner to help so that one of us could hold my daughter while the other washed her. Now I can do this by myself with ease! It's also brilliant that I only need to pack one toiletry item when staying away somewhere! And because it's good for newborn skin and toddlers, I only need to pack one item to cover all of the cleaning needs of both of my girls! It's fab!

Would you choose this product to win?

Since using Johnsons Top-To-Toe Baby Bath, bathtime has become so much easier and less stressful. Because I have two girls (ten-weeks-old and two-years-old), bathing them was a juggling act and required a bit of prep to make sure I had all of the required lotions and potions within reach and that I had an extra pair of hands to keep hold of my newborn. Now I have a bit of independence and can manage on my own, and the only pre-bath prep I need to do is to make sure I have one bottle within reach, and a clean towel. Because of that I wouldn't go back to using the previous toiletries. Why would I, when this is all I need?

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think I would change anything about Johnsons Top-To-Toe Baby Bath. It does exactly what I would want it to do, and more. Potentially that a smaller bottle is available for travelling.
