Eddie Redmayne announced as the CBeebies Bedtime Stories reader this Christmas Day!

Section: Christmas

The newest batch of Festive CBeebies Bedtime Stories readers have finally been announced and we can’t wait. The first is Eddie Redmayne, who will be taking his turn in the Story Seat at 6.50pm this Christmas Day!

Whether you know him from The Fantastic Beasts, The Theory of Everything or countless other films, this academy-award winning actor’s bedtime story comes highly anticipated. Reading ‘If I Had a Dinosaur’, by Gabby Dawnay and illustrated by Alex Barrow, Eddie will be telling the story of a little girl who dreams of having a pet of her very own. But what kind of pet would make the best companion?

Eddie says: 'I had the most wonderful time reading the CBeebies Bedtime Stories. Books before bed were always such an essential part of my growing up and it’s so lovely to be able to continue the tradition. I hope you enjoy the stories and Happy Christmas.'

But it’s not only Eddie on the cards this year, Emily Watson is the second reader to be confirmed. Not only is she a bedtime story-teller this festive period, the actress is set to star in the much awaited three-part drama ‘Little Women’ airing on Boxing Day. Her bedtime story will coincide with the drama that very evening at 6.50pm. Emily will be reading ‘Lost For Words’ by author-illustrator, Natalie Russell, a story all about how you express yourself if you just can’t find the words. Poor Tapir can't think of anything to write in his nice new notebook but soon finds a new way to express himself in tonight’s bedtime story.

Emily says: “It was such a joy to be part of the CBeebies Bedtime Stories to bring these three wonderful, imaginative books to life. I hope you enjoy the tales as much as I enjoyed reading them. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and of course, a good night...”

Look out for previously announced readers over the Christmas period too, including actor Mark Bonnar and his dulcet Scottish tones on 23rd December, Doctor Who’s Pearl Mackie on Christmas Eve and the legendary Dolly Parton on New Year’s Eve!
